Thank you all for your assistance in this, I never paid any attention to the “mode” button being spelt incorrectly, I have a return set up in place for both scales through Amazon so I am. It anticipating any problems, but if for some reason there are, I still have my order information for each that I will send directly to the aws email on their site and have them settle it.
I guess I really took one for everybody, finger has been inserted deeply inside back end, to the knuckle for everyone, I can say it hurts lol.
Thanks for all your help, when I get that truweigh scale I’ll update you on it.
I will send pictures of the boxes tomorrow, I can’t believe I’ve helped uncover a slime seller like this with everyone’s help.
Never gave it a thought that the numbers looked different as mentioned from the 1st one I bought, I just figured they have changed the display between most of you all getting it and me.
I’ll take pictures of everything and send them to AWS as well but they’re both set up for a refund/return so they’ll be going back either Thursday or Friday at the latest.
anyways all it proves so far is there is serious QC issues not sure if the performance has changed at all. sometimes cosmetic changes are made because of supply chain issues but yea i will say i doubt its only cosmetic
probably tarriff related
@Kev it appears the seller you bought it from is in fact AWS not a reseller. they made some “changes” to this model
Have you tried weighing random stuff with the scale? retesting things for accuracy and speed etc
Yeah they both function very well, but turning off when plugged in isn’t what I was hoping for.
They’re scheduled for a refund with Amazon for a refund/return on both, but the lady I’m in contact with at AWS will be getting some pictures of the boxes, order numbers from Amazon and other stuff so she can have more information
I bought this one 6 years ago for under 5$ with shipping included and i wouldn’t change it for a new 501. Even if it was talking. Even if they give one extra for free. If i’ll ever have to buy another one, i would buy one of these. I finally had to change the batteries 10 months ago. And 0.001g is so handy at my mixing amounts. Just sayin…
I just ordered, and received an AWS LB-501 through Amazon last week. I received what I’ve now named one of the MOOE-Y editions. The back screen has the ‘new’ / different g and the backlight on the screen is more gray than blue. My power block when lit is red as well. This is because the plastic bubble on the block is red. It will never produce any other color, the bulb may actually be white, but the plastic is red, so thats the only ‘color’ it will appear.
The scale seemed responsive. Will test more when actually weighing items.
It does seem something changed mid production and these versions versus the previous ones are not the same, maybe changed manufacturers or parts sourcing. The proof will be in the performance.
@Milamber777 first things first, welcome to ELR. Secondly, thanks for the LB-501 update. I copy on the “MOOE-Y”, and new “g”. If it is plugged in, do you get a low batt icon, and/or does it stay powered on while plugged in, or does it time out, and shut off ??
When plugged in, and batteries are not installed, there is a battery icon on the left. It is with a diagonal line across the battery icon length, half filled, half empty. I would normally take this as a ‘charging / powered’ icon. Hopefully, with batteries, the meter is a vertical line. That would make sense.
When plugged in, without batteries, it turned off after just over 5 minutes.
Thank you! I’ve used the name since the 90s, and yes, Riftwar was a good series. The name stood out and particularly resonated with me though, so I adopted it.
Copy that @Milamber777 that IS the problem. It’s still a good scale, but there seems to be an issue with the “newer” runs, where there is a low batt icon even though there are no batts installed, AND, it’s plugged in, AND, the unit is powering down WHILE being plugged in.
As I bought this in the US, will the AC adapter work i Europe with one of those plug dongles that changes a US plug to EU? I don’t want to blow out the fuse because the current is too strong. This happened once with my turntables, and I realized after the fact that they have a switch inside to flip if you’re going from US to EU or Japan. I’m sure the scale doesn’t have this, so how would I use the AC adapter? Or am I stuck using all those little batteries?
Sorry for asking this here, but I didn’t want to start a new thread about this scale when there was already an active one going.
Look at the wall plug and see what the input voltage is. if it’s 100 -240V you should be fine with an EU plug adapter. To be honest, I’ve never used the AC on mine. Just batteries. I’ve had mine for a number of years and think I’ve recharged the batteries three or four times. I just lay out the flavors I need prior to mixing it all up and it never times-out in the middle of a mix.
