The actual trump card in this thread. MF Watermelon.

Hehe, I’d agree with that.

So for someone who wants a realistic watermelon without jumping through hoops, MF is the ticket?

I’m voting yes on that @muth.

FINALLY, my all time favorite flavor! :watermelon::drooling_face:

I’m especially excited to try everyone’s creations!

I’ll submit my own in the second half of the month.

Yes @muth. MF is the bee’s knees.

I personally don’t think it’s a solo watermelon, but it’s an amazing base for a realistic watermelon. IMO, it needs a bit to round it out. If you push it high, it gets dry, but develops some nice top notes without getting rindy. I’ve used it as high as 2%, but I find 0.8-1.5% the sweet spot, depending on application.

RF Watermelon (Extract) is a really good realistic one, too, but it’s WAY too sweet for me. I also use this one more as a base. Or to add sweetness to a realistic WM mix without adding sweetener.

VSO raw is alright, just gets a bit floral if pushed too high (for me).

So my go-to for realistic watermelon is like a 1.5/1.5/1 mix with these 3 flavors. Add a smidge of cucumber for juiciness and you’re golden.

I can probably write a book about watermelon flavorings by now. I think I have at least 30 different ones. Probably more.:rofl:

Yes it is natural and realistic…It can get rindy if pushed too high , but you would have to test for yourself. IggyZ pushes it way higher than i do

I know because of the few I own but I never tried their watermelon and don’t remember anyone talking about it. Now that it’s been brought to my attention… :tada:

Did I see MF on Amazon or was that strictly culinary use?

They do have some flavors on Amazon, and it’s usually cheaper once you factor in the free shipping. Their Platinum line (formerly known as Premium line) is the one that can be used for vaping. However, all the photos of them say ā€œPremiumā€ line so they are most likely to be old since they changed the label to ā€œPlatinumā€ a while back. And they are sold by a 3rd party.

I don’t have any MF myself but I’ve browsed their site a few times. I’d be curious to see what their Root Beer tastes like.

Watermelon in reality and watermelon in our mind is a bit of a weird misperception. Going strictly off flavor, to me, watermelon isn’t really a ā€œmelonā€. But my idea of what I want watermelon to taste like does include ā€œmelonā€ elements. I usually throw a little honeydew or FLV Wild Melon in with watermelon, although it seems like a lot of y’all don’t like that.

For an accurate watermelon, MF Watermelon is it. Clean, natural, and complete. A little bit TOO complete to stand on its own. It leans into white flesh and rind territory, which keeps it from being a solo flavor, unless that’s what you’re into.

Cucumber adds moisture and bends the greener notes in MF very nicely. FLV’s Coolcumber pairs well.

Virtually all of my watermelon recipes at this point include

  • MF Watermelon and
  • SSA Double Watermelon

So, if we’re talking bases, that’s the 1-2 punch that I build around. The rest is just what direction to pull it - wetness, candy/sweetness, other fruit or melon accents.

This is one that I threw together recently, playing with the newer SB Splash from TPA. Bright, fresh, water"melon"y. I accept that the ā€œredā€ from strawberry is, in fact, a false construct. But I like it.

I’ve only ever bought direct from MF. If it’s on Amazon I’d assume it’s a third party re-seller.
Most of my MF stash is the ā€œSilverā€ which is alcohol carrier. Platinum/Premium is PG carrier.

Just avoid the ā€œGoldā€ line. That’s in MCT oil. Don’t vape that :upside_down_face:

I went with silver for the bang-for-buck aspect, but I’m not sure if it’s worth doing. Some of the silvers need to be used super low. Like 0.2%. Some are pretty close to the platinum percentages. There’s not a consistent multiplier across the line.
Watermelon silver I use in 0.5 - 0.8% range, which seems pretty close to the platinum percentages.

The seller on Amazon is Good Earth Beauty, and the amazon prices are all marked up, it’s cheaper to buy from GEB than Amazon, free shipping either way

Alright, something I’ve been playing around with. Refined into an actual sorbet ie all fruits, no cream.

Double watermelon backed up by sweet watermelon for the main body.
Double apple and dragonfruit for flesh and moisture.
Coolcumber doing triple duties, adding a touch of rind, cool, and wet.
I went with juicy lemon instead of Sicily for the more candy aspect and to add a bit of brightness, but might revise that if the limoncello seems like it would work better.
The slightest bit of Duo lychee, started at 0.75 and it completely overtook the mix, even after a steep it was way too floral. Settled at 0.25 as a nice background flavour.
A bit more sweet and colds than normal cause sorbet, but the sweet could drop either by half or all depending on taste.

I saw that Good Earth Beauty sells it and then I saw that Medicine Flower has their own shop on Amazon. It looks like the prices are hiked but if you get free shipping maybe it’s worth it, Idk, have to do a comparison.

Do you find DW (SSA) candyish? I only have SSA Sweet Watermelon. How would you compare the two?

I did see the Medicine Flower Shop on Amazon, as well as 3rd party sellers.
