That aint how it works, i was asked by the site owner to help uphold the rules, im going to do what i was asked because i respect the person who asked.
i understood both sides of the argument pro badge and anti badge but when u start flinginā shit at each other like monkey politicians the day of then i lose respect for both sides
Ok. All of yaāll just take a chill pill.
or, better yetā¦ go sit in the corner.
Yes, Momma.
Damn, I was just going to request a scarlet letter. Took the wind outta ma sailsā¦
I like the mentor group idea. Letās me know who to bother with asinine questions
DILLY DILLY!
I mean if i had knownā¦
Itās my kryptonite. Just canāt get passed it. I tried, but to no avail.
Wowā¦ I was away for the weekend and I feel like I just came home to find my house being destroyed and my wife banging some guy on the living room carpetā¦
I do not stand on either side of this ādebateā. Speaking personally, I would rather not have a label, of any sort. This is something I live by in my career, as well as everything else in my life. I am NOT saying this badge thing is right or wrong, only that I myself prefer not to carry around the label of anything, for any reason.
Lets use my career for an example. Most that know me, know that I am a chef by trade. I have been a chef for close to 30 years now and I have devoted my life to it. (Unfortunately, I have to bring this up to explain where I am coming from and even doing so, turns my stomach.) I was awarded a James Beard award a few years ago and I do everything I can to not talk about it (see, I feel like a fucking hypocrite now). I leave it off my resume. It isnāt that I donāt think I do or do not deserve it, itās because it has ālabeledā me or has put me on a certain level that makes me uncomfortable, as well as the majority of others. I donāt want people to think I know it all or have the belief that they think I do. I have learned new things from a 16 year old dishwasher.
I do not want my staff to call me āchefā. Most of the chefs in my business get VERY angry if you donāt call them chef. Yes Chef! Right away Chef!! Youāre the best Chef! We are mere mortals living in your world Chef! That shit is just not for me. I prefer people to know how long I have been a chef, not what accolades I have achieved. My door is always open, if someone wants to come to me and ask about things I have witnessed in my years in the business, but I donāt want people to walk by my door and see a plaque that reads āMaster Chefā, āGreatnessā, āAll knowingā
I am probably getting WAY off track here, please excuse me, I just worked 78 hours straight, with 4 hours of a ābreakā in total. What I am saying is, I do not want the label āmentorā or anything that says to other that I am all knowing. What I donāt mind is, is showing that I have been around for a long time and that I have been mixing for a while. I just donāt want to be put in a position that reads I am above or below anyone when it comes to intelligence. To me, mentor is only a hop, skip, and a jump away from teacher. Teachers are the head of a class. I am not this. I have opinions, [my own] methods and what I like to do. If someone benefits from the way I do things, great! If someone has a different approach, that may assist me in achieving what works for me, even better!
Mixing is like wine. Thereās no wrong in wine. You like what you like, fuck all to what the sommelier is telling you is right. I would rather be known here as a person that has been doing this for a while, been a member since the beginning. Not someone who is better because of it. I am NOT saying thatās what this badge is intended for, just that the actual name does give that off. Longevity and experience already hints at that, without slapping an intimidating label in your face.
PLEASE understand this is only how I feel about myself, not that I am saying this is right or wrong for others involved, and those that created it. I am not here for labels, notoriety or status. I am here to absorb knowledge from any place that I can get it, from newbies or veterans.
I am almost afraid to hit āreplyā because I am half asleep typing this and I probably make no sense at all. So if I had to give a voice on this debate, I would say the issue lies in the name. Itās direct in itās meaning, so maybe a more subtlety named badge would be more appropriate? Letting people know person XYZ has been around for a while, without saying they are above everyone else because of it?
On the other side of this coin, I do also thing there is WAY too much reading into this, than there needs to be. I can say, with confidence, that the intentions were not to divide, so maybe working together to achieve the same hopes and goals the MODS had, would be more beneficial?
(I would also like my mentor badge to be removed and replaced with Juice Slut, thanks)
Understandable, i knew from the git go that not everyone would want to be involved and im totally cool with that. I can remove you from the group.
Now d00d, go git you some sleep! My eyes hurt just thinking about your weekendā¦
EDIT: Removed but the door is always open.
ā¦ yes, this!
So what, now youāre saying I am not worthy?!?!?!
Totally kidding
Nighty night everyone
ā¦andā¦
uh humā¦
Juice Slut?
Umm, only JoJo can do that.
Forgive me DaMomma for borrowing such a large percentageā¦ But I share the majority of your sentiment, and Iāve edited in /
As for the whole āMentorā monikerā¦ Itās a bitā¦well, for me āunsettlingā (is the best term I can think of offhand). Mostly because, I think of such, as being designated (or assigned to) someone in a one on one capacity. And the last thing Iād want is to become someoneās go-to āanswer botā.
I I might be so boldā¦ I would suggest a change in symbol/icon, to perhaps a pair of hands in blue
Eg:
(if possible) so we avoid the racial undertones bullshit thatās already been mentioned in private among quite a few folksā¦
Additionally, my nomination for title change would be to: The Order of the Trusted Helping Hands
I have more to consider, and read up on (obviously) but this is where Iām at for the moment!
Iād be interested in seeing folks feedback the ideas.
which is why im not going to ask you anything anymore in regards to e liquid because you dont have the proper badge. i wish i could have a squiggly crap badge next to mine.
Okay Iām new to these forums here. So Iāll say my 2 cents and leave it as that.
Mentor idea is a good one. I like it.
Mentors should in my humble opinion, be members who are respected by the moderators, admins, and the newer membersā¦
Granted having hundreds of flavors might make you a good
Vape Wizard
To someone whoās needing a little help with making blueberry pop in his recipe.
But this actually distances you from the guy just starting outā¦
A Mentor
needs to be someone who still remembers what it like to be new. Someone who takes the time to know the person they are helping. And help guide them into the DIY experience. Not choose the path they should follow. Buy saying you need to buy this , this , and this, and order these flavors.
Okay maybe Iām not good at long winded speeches and maybe this is more than 2 cents.
But mentor can be a good thing.
Oh yea @JoJo sent you a pm
i like your suggestion , only one thing if it is blue hand can they look like smurf hands ( i just watched the smurfs movie with my kids ) and they are a helpful bunch , if not no biggie just a request good night everyone ā¦
I agree with you. While I appreciate @JoJoās sweet and heartfelt thoughtfulnessā¦ The capitalization, and context makes all the difference to a Vet. The other is trivial in relation.
