Someone told me it meant “trusted” which is an honor but also probably misguided, lol.
If there’s something in a mid-saturation level cerulean, that would be awesome. It’s honestly not worth the effort though since I’m used to it now. I was only making a point.
similar thoughts and ill quote myself here , lol " in a way it helps a newcomer get comfort hearing thoughts from a badged member but also as others addressed he/she/it may take that opinion over an unbadged member w/ more experience on that particular subject"
I had to look it up:
Cerulean (/səˈruːliən/), also spelled caerulean, is a colour term that may be applied to certain colours with the hue ranging roughly between blue and azure overlapping with both. It also largely overlaps with azure and sky blue, although cerulean is dimmer.
First let me say that it is very hard for me to be respectful right now. I am trying very hard to not swear.
I just do not see the point here.
Let’s take a look at the rating system on the OTHER side. Yes folks there is another side to this forum.
So everyone goes and says hey make the top rated recipes. The people that do not get votes do not even have a chance of getting feedback for their recipes. I could care less about my own, but others get hurt by it. I stand up for the little guy, because I was that guy at once.
Now here. You cannot mod everything. I know you have your handful. I just think that giving a badge will lesson the value of what the little guy has to say. I am not for that.
Which is where I find the issue… let’s say I some how have a badge by my mugshot (as far fetched as that might seem), and am chatting to someone about coil building and in walks @Cutlass92 (whom we all know won’t get a badge by their bald head). The person is going to take my word for it or the shiny dommed person and that would be a pity. The first train of thought would be for me to say … "Hey listen to @Cutlass92 " but I might not even see their remark for hours and that would be sad (to the person that wanted assistance)… shrugs just something I’m probably reading too much into is all.
hmmm… I have mixed feelings about this whole ‘badge’ thingamajiggiewhatchamacalllit .
On the one hand, I am honored to have one, as I’ve been here since I was a toddler and I might be able to point someone in the right direction that’s looking for help. .
On the other hand, there are some folk with much more knowledge than I have about most things. Except for @Skullblade789 … he’s as dimwitted as I am.
Ya’ll do what you like. I will just continue to advise about things I feel comfortable with, and point them to others with more knowledge when I’m unsure.
Keep in mind that even the name isnt set in stone at this point. I was super high and now everyone likes Wizard better, ffs.
At this point it is a handful of folks who many of us consider masters of their craft. It doesnt have anything to do with top recipes, that side of the website never even popped into my head when i thought of this. Some of the first members are knowledgeable in one or more areas, gear, flavorings, building, etc.
Next we will discuss, as a group, the criteria and additional group members once things are settled.
And please dont hesitate to ask anything, Skullblade. If i can answer it i will, if not i will make up something that sounds close to an answer.
I really think this is where some of these comments are getting lost. I’ve noticed that members that’s been here for a while has pretty much settled into a groove that works best for them. They pretty much reply in threads that they are knowledgeable about and stay in their lane when a topic isn’t familiar to them.
I don’t see much if any older members commenting on subjects that they don’t have knowledge of. A lot of comments I see are from things a person has read or heard and then repeated to death. IMO most older members answer from their experiences.
i choose not to comment on squonk posts, not at my lack of knowledge of it, but the level of silliness I believe it is. Both the name and the action sounds like a dr. seuss book.
Squonk squonnked his squonky squonk into the squonky day.
Agreed. I don’t know how many badges you guys had planned or decided on, but I’m sure a minimum is best. What comes to mind, for ELR ??
Mixer, Mentor, Reviewer, Hardware, Veteran maybe ?? Dunno, might be too many, defeating the point.
I hadn’t considered what @Skullblade789 mentioned, and that’s a valid point for sure. I’ve run large forums and we always used some sort of badging. Leaders, mods, team leaders, veterans, etc. Made it easy for new joins to know who was who, etc. It could work like that here, but, with skullblade’s point still on deck.
I’m hearing that the desired goal is to make it easier for newer members to be able to differentiate between members ?? For help or questions ?
I don’t know how to unlock the badges unless I get a certain action unlocked, is there a badge list we can “study” or something, I would’ve started working out months ago if I knew I was gonna be in a race.
