I would say a combination of
-24 month been a member (to prove familiarity with the site functions and site history)
-Active user at least monthly, preferable weekly
-posted # of recipes at least, 10
-reviewed # number of recipe, let say… 10 or 20
-has left a flavor review or . 10 or 20?
-has # number of forum posts/responses left to show, (is a community going person.
^as a starter, it shows site familiarity, DIY hardware familiarity with flavors, community/forum familiarty and interaction and general awareness of DIY ejuice, ELR and its community
(the numbers are up for grabs though, but a higher number proves that they have climbed the mountain)
its an idea everyone , an idea that hasnt been completely developed and figured out yet , its not a thing to put one person above another or to say that this person knows more than that person , i believe whatever two of our leaders @jojo and @Ken_O_Where have presented and we should be supportive and let them build this , i think the coolest thing is that as a group its being discussed most groups wouldnt even be discussing this it would be what it is and that it … I have a pretty strong belief that knowone is running around with their chest puffed up bc they got a badge and i believe everyone those with one and those without arent going to let it get to a point where someone is getting over shadowed because they dont have one , but if it can make a newer member feel more at ease to be able to talk to one of these people then great , i propose we get on board and support ken and jo …
And i aint above admitting when i am wrong, it happens a lot. If it comes to that point i will do so.
And folks, this is just the beginning of the changes. Not all of them will work out. I opened this up for discussion for this exact reason, to hear your concerns, put them in a notepad file and make sure that it doesnt happen.
Im also considering opening the forums rules thread for discussion. We are all in this together…
I think it’s more about recognition more than anything else. I’m not bothered about this whole badge thing, I’ll never earn one either which doesn’t bother me. Advices given should be taken equally and with your own judgment as to what is best not because of some orange tag in the profile. Just my 2cents on this matter, seems like more of a big deal than it needs to be.
basically, criteria that shows that they have withstood the test of time here and know how the site works and learned the “unwritten rules of the road” for DIY, someone who can relative draw up info at the blink just based on familiarity with certain types of recipes, flavors, or knows the bare bones of certain questions or situations.
The “memba berry” members will be the first flock, and the “Pepperidge farm remembers” will be second, hahahaha
"memba when they used to mix by drops and called it bathtub juice? I memba"
“memba when they added titanium dioxide and food coloring to the juice to make it look really cool? I memba”
why would you think that ?? @Ken_O_Where and @JoJo both have said its not , isnt that enough to ensure this is not a popularity or recognition thing ???
Well, you are right. It is about identifying those who most know to excel in what they do so that new folks coming to the site can quickly identify them. Most people know they already as they participate often and reliably but a new mixer may not.
I completely agree with that, Kenbu. It may end up not working out at which point people can boo and hiss me. Im totally cool with that.
Either way i think post repeating the sames questions a half dozen times are over with. At the same time we do not want to discourage new users which is why this idea sprang to mind. One part in a (possibly) larger plan.
My take, as a relative newcomer that’s interacted with a lot of you here…
I would like to see badges for staff, and veterans. That’d be all. I want to know staff and also who’s been around for a while. In public threads all opinions are welcome to me, but if I want something specific I’d like to be able to seek out a vet or a mod.
Titles mean little, content is what counts. There are some amazing people here, and I still haven’t taken the time to see how long they’ve been here. It is something I’d like to know at a glance. Otherwise, good advice and people dispensing it have been easy to spot.
As far as “regulars” go, this is a wonderful group. I’ve been able to do my own filtering easily. The only one that perplexed me was @Skullblade789. He’s a big ol’ teddy bear, but at the same time he’ll eat you if you have your head down and don’t pay attention.
My point is, I don’t see value in putting some members above others, sans staff. Just my tiny opinion.
i enjoy attempting to help others best i can or relate them to other posts but it is irritating to see the same q pop up a couple times the same day. the quick solution is to link but it does seem a little rude, perhaps a message containing “if not found here, ask again”
So to me this sounds like a good way to keep new members from feeling the need to be active enough in this community to form their own opinions about who has good advice… because its just being fed to them… Meanwhile others with no special badge will be overlooked.
Could you explain a bit more please? This isnt an exclusionary device at all, its not what its intention is, but we all know what they say about good intentions so i would love it if you would go into a bit more detail with your concerns.
Often we only see things from our own point of view, i want to avoid this by hearing everyones thoughts.
