Be a nice change from 6 months of 100 degrees heat
That’s clever !
Great way to use them and trigger some fine memories. I remember when those were the newest things around. Darn…I’m old. I remember when 5.25" ones were new and replaced the 8" floppies. Thanks for sharing this.
@DaveJ @Cary1 Just a little backstory on this for a trip down memory lane. Back in the 90s, I started a Jaycees project called Kid-Disk, back when digital cameras first started to come on the scene… What did it hold? Yep, a floppy disk. So, we would lug a big honking desktop computer down to the mall, set it up on a table and offer to take photos of kids (with parents permission, of course) Also on the disk was a text file that the parents would help us fill out with all the details of the child and then give the disk to the parents for free. It was just a little peace of mind for the parents to have that disk to hand to law enforcement in case the child was ever lost.
…And then digital cameras became so popular that I no longer had any use for all the floppy disks piled up
Among the woodworking techniques I’ve learned is something called Shou Sugi Ban. Basically it’s burnt wood which is then stained and clear coated.
These will become wall sconces when finished.
Those are beautiful…love it
Lovely work on those pieces.
I’ve seen a few youtube vids on that burn and stain process. The end results sure look pretty damned special.
I, for one, would like to see what you do to make those into wall lights.
(When you get that far)
That looks great
A variation of this (black charcoal finish) has been promoted on a home Reno show here in Australia.
Ah … that’s how you were planning to do it.
Lovely.
Nicely done
Love it friend.
Sorry but you can’t do that it’s inviting kids and adults don’t like flavours
But that looks sooo good
Mt st Helens is part of the cascade mountain range…and the photo is just to the right of the mountain and I think it’s called Elk rock.
I just thought the moon light looked almost like a sunset photo.
I remember seen Mt. St. Helens a few years after the eruption. Trees were still laid over like match sticks but there was the start of green undergrowth. Great shots !!
