Properly storing nicotine

Outta my league. I usually just stick it in the freezer and call it a day.

Food grade nitrogen/argon would work so would a vacuum to stop any oxygen contacting the nic.

It would be easier IMO to take your big bottle and break it down into smaller bottles so that you don’t keep opening it up. Just grab another small bottle when your out so your nic will last longer.

Thank you all.
I’ve been thinking of mixing in a Erlenmeyer Flask and using the vacuum cork. Shake, evacuate, and steep in that until ready. Then pour that into my bottles for pouring into my vape. Any suggestions or “Don’t do that” to offer?

@Bruce8 Going through all that extra effort may not give you much benefit. Air, light, and heat are the enemies, so anytime you can eliminate or minimize them, that’s always good, but how much worrying about corking off, or topping off with Argon gas may not be worth the effort.

I purchase litres of NIC and get both Argon topped for long term storage, and non Argon topped for breaking down and using. I use the Argon topped only for long term storage, and do not top off any other bottles. I do break down ALL of my regular NIC into 60-120ml bottles and leave only about 1/2" air gap before capping off, and freezing. With no light or heat, and the very small air space I have managed to get far over a year of storage with no degradation. If you ARE in the “keep it in the freezer” camp, then the most important thing is NOT exposing your entire bottle to heat/air/light every time you mix, hence the breaking down into smaller bottles, that way only ONE bottle is exposed till empty.

I just pulled a 120 ml bottle out of the freezer stash the other day. I let it get to room temp overnight, and broke it down into two 60 ml bottles. One went back in the freezer and one stayed out for mixing. I drew some out, with a pipette, and it was as clear as the day I put it in the freezer 2 1/2 years ago. Nothing special done when it went in the freezer. I just left a half inch or so of air at the top, as @SessionDrummer noted, capped it with a polycone top, and stored it. Very easy.

Guys i wonder what should i do i have a unopened 500ml pg 100mg nic.i have own it now for 3months i have stored it in the fridge but my question is should i put it in the freezer instead? Cause iknow that im not going to use it for at least 6months forward. Can i just put the bottle in the freeze? And when my other nic is out i just take the other bottle out from the freezer and when i start to use it i store it in the fridge? What you think?

@min0, @anon28032772 is right get it right into the freezer. I am assuming it’s in a glass bottle ?? If so, you will be better off. I WOULD recommend when you start to USE that big 500ml bottle of NIC, that you break it down (safely) into smaller glass bottles, and keep them all in the freezer. 500ml is a big bottle, and if you just leave it in the one big bottle, every time you open it to use, over and over again, you will be exposing the ENTIRE bottle to oxygen, heat, light, etc. If you break it down into smaller bottles and only use one at a time, the remaining bottles will stay much fresher, as only ONE will be opened at a time.

A few people also use argon or some other inert gas to top off their bottles so that oxygen won’t touch their nic. That way you can be pretty sure your nic won’t go bad, but it’s an additional investment, not just the cartridges but also the dispenser. Specialist wine shops etc may sell those things.
I believe I used about 125ml of 72mg nic in my first year, so your 500ml bottle will last you quite a while if you’re only mixing for yourself.

Yep freeze that thing. I buy 100% nic split it 50\50 with pg then right in the freezer it goes.

Need some clarification my good man…

Are you buying 100mg/ml OR “100%” nic (which is 1000mg/ml)??

I hope it’s not the latter.

I buy mine and split it into 30ml glass bottles, double bag and chuck in freezer. Pull them out as needed. PG base.

Where are yall getting the glass bottlrs from? I see Amazon has some but not sure if that’s the best place. In the reviews I’ve seen reports of either faulty or broken cone caps. I’d like to get extra (highest quality possible) but dont see any there.

I’ve been keeping my nic in the freezer but in just PET plastic bottles. I know it’s not optimal but haven’t had a problem with nic in 3 years. I want to stock up on nic and store it in glass for LONG term storage.

Can somebody point me in the right direction pertaining to 4 or 8oz bottles with good caps?
