Real Flavors! All Natural VG Based Flavors

@Lovebag Just a short note of encouragement. I had to go back and check but in Feb I’ll be 3 years stinky free. The best advice I can give you is to just let it happen. Wifey and I agreed to our sons giving us our first ecig for Christmas. When we discussed it we went into it with the attitude that maybe it could help us cut down on the smoking. Then without really trying one morning I got up and just didn’t light up. That was Feb. 25 2014. I haven’t had one since and haven’t even considered having one.
So as I said before LET IT HAPPEN

I picked up a few of the VG versions, I had used some of them already as the Northwest branded flavors on ecx. The cream isn’t bad, I think the PG concentrate will be far easier to use. I think the using them at 5% or 10% or 15% is just weird for us who are used to blending a lot of flavors together but using lower percentages on most of them. The VG ones also seem to need a fair amount of time to steep. If I hadn’t used the vortex mixer on a few of these at day 6 they wouldn’t have yet been vapable. Creme Brulee is good. Jury is still out on Spongecake. Bread pudding is pretty yummy too. I just posted a simple elephant ear recipe too with just RF flavors. It works. But it is a little simple for my tastes, but it is also kind of an overpowering flavor at 15% flavoring, so I don’t think i could work with them as blended flavor recipes in the VG states. But I just ordered a bunch of FLV flavors so I am going to have to hold off on spending $300 on more flavoring just to test. #diylife. lol

I was wondering why the vg versions were so sweet. I rarely use sweetener, mostly use marshmallow, em, ev, brown sugar, caramel, buttscotch, ect, as sweetness in my juices. Been vaping these test bottles of RF vg flavors and I’m wondering why they are coating my mouth in a film of sweetness. It’s too much for me for an ADV. While it does taste good, I don’t do a lot of sugar in general, so it’s just too much for me. But it’s good for those who are coming off commercial juice that is super sweet.

I have a question that’s sort of off the wall. If I were to take a one ounce bottle of extract how much VG should I add to it to make it a flavoring similar to RF, FLA or FA as these are the three most concentrated flavors. That I use anyway. Any suggestions

@Jennifer_Jarvis Have you ever tried vaping straight VG no nic no flavor in it? It’s got an inherent sweetness to it so I’m sure that is part of what you are tasting.

Now that you mention it the RF Boysenberry extract is a little sweet to. I just started adding .01% more TPA sour to it.

Welcome @Lovebag Please don’t be shy, and welcome!!! Congratulations on stopping smoking. 22mg in a mtl set up like yours is very reasonable. You are right that in subohm it would be too high. When I first stopped and was mtl, I used 18mg, and know of many others that used up to 36mg.

At a guesstimate, I would say I had to mix with higher percentages of flavor for almost my first year before my tastebuds started recovering. If you go by someones posted recipe, I would not be afraid of bumping up percentages by 25% and going from there. It will make it a little stronger, and you can always add more if, after steeping for a few weeks, it’s still not strong enough. Allso don’t be afraid to ask us question in the comments on any receipe. If you comment on the recipe, it will email the creator, and we could guide you a bit on whether to mix stronger or not. But, PG is a better flavor carrier than VG, so with you using 70%, you might get a good flavor without bumping. Easy rule of thumb is you can always add more flavor, but can’t take it out.

I agree with everyone else. The Raw concentrates are much much better. Walt has awesome flavors, but when used in the VG version it is quite weak. The extracts are much stronger, and you use less so it will go a long way.

Again, please don’t be afraid of asking questions, the only stupid ones are the ones unasked

Again, welcome to the group and congratulations on quitting. Also, if you do end up smoking an analog or 2, that is perfectly normal in the beginning. Don’t beat up on yourself, even 1 or 2 is much better than the pack a day, and you are trying

That’s what I always assumed it was…the natural sweetness from the VG. I know mine is very sweet. But only Walt knows for sure…maybe he’ll give up the secret?

Other than…

(which I think @Walt_RealFlavors should be able to answer for you) it looks like others have answered your questions. So I’ll just say welcome to the crazy awesome fun world of ELR!!

Hey that’s my line, I tell people that all the time.

Oh yes, I know the sweetness of vg, it’s not that. There is definitely something that is sweetness in the extracts. I did all 10% test batches with the exception of the elephant ear and dulce mix, that was 15% total. It’s really, really sweet. Normally, I mix FA flavors and usually only use 2% marshmallow max in a recipe for sweetness.

I don’t necessarily dislike the sweetness, but it has killed a coil a lot faster than usual, and my current coil is starting to gunk up (and I’ve got ceramics in my ultimo tank.) I’m not crazy about pre sweetened flavors. I don’t like using CAP Sweet line very often, though sometimes in low amounts with other less sweet fruits. But overall I don’t like not being able to control the sweetness factor. That’s why I think the raw extracts versions will suit me better than the VG based ones.

A lot of the extracts seem sweet to me as well, but he said the extracts don’t have sweetener. I wonder if I’m just sensitive to the sweet? Hasn’t been overwhelming for me on any of them, but the only thing I’ve used sweetener in is the bread pudding so far. Everything else was good without for me. However, I don’t use sweetener a lot either. I’ve just recently started playing with it a bit to see how/if it works with different flavors.

Hopefully he will pop in the next day or 2 and answer these questions for us

@Jennifer_Jarvis did you work your way up to the 10 and 15%? I’ve been using the boysenberry at 3 to 6% in the two recipes I make and sometimes the sweet berry flavor is a little much.

Is it possible that you are talking about the total percentage of the finished juice with other flavors added in.

maybe one of us needs hope onto his site and see if we can ring his bell with an email or filling out the contact form

I generally check and see what the average percentages that folks tend to be mixing stuff, look at the manufacturer’s suggested amount and pick a point somewhere in the middle of it all. 10% seemed like a good point to start with the VG flavors. Depending on how it tastes at that amount I’d mix a second and third batch at different ratios to decide where I like a flavor to be, either going higher or lower than the original. I liked cherry pie, spongecake, creme brulee, and breadpudding at 10%…I think the flavor comes through enough at that point, but it is just a little too sweet for me. If I could halve the sweetness it’d be much better for my preferences. With the Elephant Ear, I did 10% and 5% Dulce, because I could tell the dulce was going to be pretty good just from smelling the bottle, but I didn’t want it to overwhelm the elephant ear. 15% was the total flavoring for that mixed bottle, the 10 + 5 %. Oh and I mixed a frosted cereal at 10%. Not that crazy about the cereal notes now that it’s steeping. It’s not bad, but I’d rather work with it in a concentrated form so it could be layered with other flavors and not quite as sweet.

Cherry Pie was good enough that I finished off the 30ml before it fully steeped. I need to make a couple more test bottles and try it on the vortex mixer to see how it turns out.

Edit to add: These were just single flavor test samples that I was mixing up at 10%, not sure if I made that clear before.

I promise I am here! Welcome to the family @Lovebag!

  1. LOL I don’t know too much about setups but I am finding a lot more people are loving the extracts more.
  2. French Toast is one of those odd flavors that some people love or hate, we had to make a change back in July but I am working on a different version. It is hard with all the rules we are getting :stuck_out_tongue:
  3. KFC should be out in December or January. It will pass as well
  4. I am as well lol
  5. Right now we need to get the new site live, that means the ELRECIPES does not work right now.
  6. lol I am hoping someone else can help with that.

The VG tends to lend some sweetness. We do not add any extra.

Normally a 1:4 to 1:8. I would say closer to 1:4 for most (except mint! Mints is FOR SURE 1:8 lol)

I promise I seen the emails from the site lol

If you’re VG has that sort of effect, maybe you should be selling it as a base, because I’ve never had any VG that was sweet enough to leave a sweet film in my mouth. The VG I’m using right now, that is organic palm based is not that sweet on it’s own, nor in any of my other recipes. None of the various vg’s I’ve used have done this. So you’ve got some seriously special VG supplier.

When compared to PG, it does. I said some, not a lot :stuck_out_tongue:

Our VG is Organic Palm

Thank you @Walt_RealFlavors! And everyone else who has been so nice :hugging:

I’ll be ordering a few extracts from you tonight then. Quick question (since i don’t see an ‘add note’ thingie in the site)…i’ll be going with USPS First Class shipping. Better known as cheap  Could i please ask you to make sure that a signature is not required?

See i live in an apartment building with a broken buzzer, and have a very tiny mailbox. Just want 'em to pop in there, easy. Picking up a parcel from the post office in person involves cajoling my annoyed sister into helping me since Canada Post has the stupidest ID rules you ever did imagine. You need less ID to vote. And none to receive it directly from the postman if you see him! It’s so dumb…the government issues photo ID to everyone (a health card) but that’s free so noooo they won’t believe you’re you. “Sorry, we wanna see the optional one from the same government that costs $35.” :unamused:

Anyway so yes…no signature required, please   And thank you re the KFC Chicken! December is better than January…though i sure won’t object to testing a sample for you now. :kissing_heart:

You are 100% fine. We do not normally require a signature unless there is a history of missing packages.
