Real Flavors Super Concentrates Tasting Notes (Part 1)

Hey guys…I have begun testing all SF @ 1%…I know I said I would start @ .25% or .50%, but I didn’t want to waste the VG if it was unnecessary…and to be honest I am glad that I didn’t start that low because most of the flavors are tasting pretty weak so far as SF…I have only tested on Day 1 and Day 6 so far…I will test again around the 2 week mark…I am not good at describing the actual flavor notes on flavors, but these aren’t really ready for that yet anyways…right now I am just testing the strength as SF’s and whether it tastes good or not…I will wait at least a month before I try my hand at describing the actual flavor so it will be more of what one would get with a one month steep time…For now this is only to try to pin down the best starting %'s and steep times for SF’s…if anyone feels this really is an unnecessary post please PM me so I can take it down…hopefully these notes can help someone to not give up on a flavor by seeing how it develops over a month or more…this is what I have so far…

(While adding my Day 14 notes, I forgot to tell you all what I am testing with! I have been testing them on an Avocado 24 with a dual coil being used as a dripper, 316L SS two strands twisted 28 gauge claptoned with 34 gauge and wicked with rayon, it is .27 ohms and I am using it in TC mode at 45 watts and 480 degrees on an RX200)

Strawberry SC - 1%
Day 1 - Delicious SB…probably the best SB I have tasted…I have high hopes for this one! Good flavor but not very strong
Day 6 - Still a very good flavor…may be a tad bit more pronounced than on Day 1 but still a little weak
Day 14 - This is a very true SB, and while it is very good, I want more flavor…it is still weak, maybe even more so than on day 6…definitely needs to be stronger for a SF mix…I will continue to see how it steeps
Day 21 - This flavor keeps getting better (if that is possible) but it is so weak…I don’t think it is any weaker than it was a week ago, but this flavor definitely needs to be mixed at a higher percentage…I would suggest 1.5% to 2% as a SF

Cream SC - 1%
Day 1 - A little stronger than I would want right now
Day 6 - Has mellowed over the last few days and is actually pretty perfect right now
Day 14 - Wow! I thought this was good on day 6! It is very good now @ 1% as a SF!
Day 21 - This has steeped well and is an excellent cream flavor…it hasn’t gotten any stronger in the last week, but it is very good @ 1% for a SF.

Marshmallow SC - 1%
Day 1 - Can taste the sweetness and mouthfeel this will add to a mix but is a little weak as a SF
Day 6 - Sweet but still a little weak as a SF
Day 14 - same as day 6…sweet and good, but weak @ 1% for a SF, but who really uses MM as a SF mix anyways!
Day 21 - Still the same…it is sweet enough to add some sweetness to a mix if used @ 1% but that is not enough for a SF recipe…but as I said before, when do we vape MM by itself?

White Chocolate SC - 1%
Day 1 - Very good flavor but not very pronounced
Day 6 - Love this flavor but still a little weak as a SF
Day 14 - Flavor is very good and a tad bit more pronounced, but still a little weak as a SF @ 1%
Day 21 - Really good flavor, very well rounded, still has not gotten any stronger though…it is good, but weak @ 1%

Vanilla Custard SC - 1%
Day 1 - Really nice custard but is weak @ 1%
Day 6 - has developed more…the flavor seems thicker (if that makes sense) but still weak
Day 14 - This has developed more over the last week and is really good but as a SF it is a little weak @ 1%…maybe 1.25% for a SF…I will continue to see how it steeps
Day 21 - Very nice VC…it seems as if it may be a tad bit stronger than last week, but if it has it is not by much…as of right now, I would bump the percentage to at least 1.25%, or maybe even 1.5% for a SF mix.

Caramel SC - 1%
Day 1 - This is almost undetectable
Day 6 - Has gotten stronger and is a really good caramel, but it is still pretty weak
Day 14 - This has stayed virtually the same as it was on day 6…it is really good, but I like my flavors a little stronger…I will see how this continues to steep but will probably mix it @ 1.25% next time
Day 21 - Still good, it is sweet and subtle…has not gotten any stronger

Meringue SC - 1%
Day 1 - Good flavor…sweet but weak
Day 6 - very good and sweet…has gotten stronger with this short steep and is really good right now as a SF
Day 14 - has mellowed from what it was a week ago…it is still a really good flavor and I still really like it as a SF @ 1% although for a SF I may take it up to 1.25%…but I don’t really see myself using this as a SF mix anyways
Day 21 - this will be a great sweetener, 1% is still a little too weak for a SF, but is probably perfect as an additive to other mixes

Watermelon SC - 1%
Day 1 - Tastes like cough syrup
Day 6 - has mellowed and is a very good flavor right now as a SF
Day 14 - This is a really good watermelon…it has actually gotten a little stronger @ 1% for a SF mix…I think I will take it down to .75%, maybe even .50% next time
Day 21 - Awesome WM…very realistic…it still seems as if it is getting weaker though…may still be a little strong, but not by much…if it continues to weaken, 1% may turn out to be perfect for a SF mix with a month long steep

Coconut SC - 1%
Day 1 - Very good coconut but weak
Day 6 - has developed more and gotten a little stronger…is great right now as a SF
Day 14 - This is a really good, but subtle, coconut…it is not overpowering like some coconut flavors can be…it is really mellow @ 1% SF…I love coconut and personally, I will make this at 1.25% or even 1.50% next time!
Day 21 - OMG! This is a very, very good sweet coconut! Love it! This is steeping wonderfully and is a really awesome coconut…as of right now I, personally, would make it a little stronger.

Pear SC - 1%
Day 1 - Yummy! Very good as a SF right now!
Day 6 - flavor has faded some and needs to be a little stronger
Day 14 - This is really good now @ 1%…it seems to have come back around since last week…it is a very good SF pear @ this percentage!
Day 21 - This pear is lovely and sweet! It is very smooth and mellow! It is still very good as a SF @ 1%

Fried Dough SC - 1%
Day 1 - Very good as a SF right now
Day 6 - has weakened since day 1 and needs to be a little stronger
Day 14 - still tastes good, but it has mellowed and seems even weaker as a SF @ 1%…however, it does taste like fried dough! I think right around 1%, maybe .75%, is a good mixing percentage, but maybe for a SF it needs to be 1.5% or even 2%…I will continue to see how this steeps
Day 21 - Very good…it hasn’t gotten any weaker in the last week, but it is still weak for a SF

Cheesecake SC - 1%
Day 1 - Good but a little weaker than I’d like as a SF
Day 6 - OMG!!! This has gotten significantly stronger…tastes like butric acid…not pleasant at all…need to cut flavor % in half at least!!!
Day 14 - This is still tasting very strongly like butric acid to me @ 1% after two weeks of steeping…@ this point it tastes so strongly of butric acid that I do not like this flavor, but I still have high hopes about what it can add to a mix at very small percentages, so I will continue to steep it and try it again next week! Next time I mix this I will mix it @ .50% maybe even .25% for SF!
Day 21 - This flavor has calmed slightly, but 1% is still way too much for a SF mix…and it still tastes like butric acid…even though this is gross at 1% I can tell this has potential to be an excellent Cheesecake flavor from the undertones of flavor I get when I am testing it

Yumberry SC - 1%
Day 1 - Great Flavor but I am hoping for more development with steeping
Day 6 - No change…still the same as Day 1…still weak for a SF…awesome flavor though!
Day 14 - this is a really good flavor but it is really weak as a SF @ 1%…needs to be mixed @ around 2% next time
Day 21 - This has not changed…it is a wonderful, very good and tasty flavor…but it needs to be stronger

Pink Candy SC - 1%
Day 1 - Love this flavor, but weak as a SF
Day 6 - Has not developed any more…is still a great flavor, but it is still fairly weak for a SF
Day 14 - very good flavor…it is very true to a strawberry starburst flavor, but is very weak @ 1% for a SF…should increase to @ least 2% next time
Day 21 - I love this flavor…but I still think it is too weak and it needs to be stronger as a SF mix

I will come back and add to this post every time I test these…If anyone has a question about one of these flavors I would be more than happy to try to describe to you in more detail what it tastes like at this point in the steeping process…

Unnecessary? Please…this is exactly the information that is needed! Thank you so much for taking the time. I only have a few of the SC’s, but I started my testers at 2%, so hearing the results at 1% is very helpful to me. Also on the different flavors as I have been curious.

I am not surprised on the cheesecake. I have the VG version of the Cream Cheese, and it is super strong in that form. I am sure they use the same cream cheese in their cheesecake. The VG version is very very authentic, but .25% is my starting even with it not being a SC. I can’t even imagine working with the SC, I’d have to dilute it to even work with I’m guessing.

Again, thank you for sharing your results :yum:

yes, it can be very overpowering but it should start to mellow after 2+ weeks. I did my SF test at 1.5%. I used it in a recipe Dec 21 at 1% of a total 3.5% and it was quite overpowering at first but now it has mellowed and the Vanilla Custard @ 1.5% and Graham Cracker @ 1% have started to come forward. That being said, next time I make this recipe I am considering upping the custard to 2% and dropping the other 2 flavors to 0.75% each.

@Walt_RealFlavors wondering if you can advise on recommended starting point percentages (stand alone) for the following:

Rhubarb
Samoa Cookie
Shamrock Shake.

Ive just received them, and have never used RF before, and notes on the inter-webs are scant for these.

Thanks in advance

Something to consider is how the original person made this up, perhaps the percentages they used was because of how they taste after steeping all together. If you add it (whatever the ingredient is) later in the steep cycle, would it change the juice into something other than the flavor the juice was intended to taste like…? Just making a comment here is all, kinda like asking if you should marshmallows be added to hot chocolate when you first put it in a cup or add them right before you drink it… lol

I’m thinking you probably purchased the vg flavors based on the 3 you mentioned. This is the super concentrate thread. You might want to check out some notes over here…

I have some of the vg samoa cookie I am finishing off right now that I mixed up at 20% and the flavor is very faint. Other VG flavors I have tried in the past like apple pie, banana bread, aged bourbon cream and bread pudding had more flavor at 12 or 15% than the samoa cookie does at the 20%.

Ahh sweet, thank you

Brilliant, thank you  I appreciate the reply. Your recipe looks good, Ill give it a go.
I’ve bit the bullet and mixed a small batch of the Shamrock at 15% stand alone to test it out, but the mix you posted looks more to my liking with different layers and flavour components.

Thanks again

Okay…so my intentions to test weekly went out the window as life stuff got in the way. So the following are based on a test after nearly 4 weeks steep (my subjective opinions only):

Baked Bread 1% - This is strong even at this %. Has that yeastiness like FA Joy. I like this a lot. Would use lower in a mix, maybe 0.5-0.75 as I think it will overpower other flavours easily.

Butter Toffee 1% - Smooth, sweet toffee. Leave a lovely buttery taste on the exhale. I’d need is stronger as a SFM but it’s very good.

Caramel 1% - This is a delicious caramel, not candy-like, more like the gooey caramel you get inside a chocolate bar (think Galaxy Caramel UK peoples).

Condensed Milk - 1.5% This is weak to me. Getting sweetness and hint of creamy/milky. Has thick mouthfeel.

French Toast 1% - Hint of egg, the toast is more prominent, nice touch of sweetness from cinnamon.

Fried Dough 2% - I only seem to get sweetness from this? Need to try lower and higher SFMs.

Molasses 1% - Accurate in terms of dark sweetness. Feels almost syrupy in the mouth.

Rice Crispy Treat 2% - Caramelly with a savoury rice crispy exhale.

Strawberry 2% - Delicious strawberry - has both freshness and ripeness to it. Really balanced - will use this a lot!

Vanilla Custard 2% - Getting sweetness, hint of vanilla, full mouthfeel. Needs to be stronger for me as SFM.

White Chocolate 2% - I get creaminess with light white chocolate but feels weak to me.

Yumberry 2% - Having never actually tried a Yumberry, all I can say is that I need an actual Yumberry Tree (or is it plant?) in my garden! It’s sweet, light and refreshing at this %. If it was possible to vape colours, this one would be pink…I get a lovely ‘pinkness’ from it!

For my tastebuds I would increase % on all of the above apart from the Baked Bread as SFMs, although not massively (varying increases of 0.5% - 2%)

Not sure if these are of any use to anybody, but thought I would share with you all the same :+1::blush:

EDIT: These were all mixed 70vg/30pg, 0 nic and tested on a 0.15 ohm coil in a baby beast tank.

These are great use, thank you very much for taking the time to write them up :heartpulse:

Is everyone also putting their notes on the flavors in the database? That would help a LOT for people that don’t read the forums and/or if we are looking for quick notes without having to search through all the posts in the threads

I agree with Lisa as well , thank you @Lolly your notes are a great help to all of us!:kissing_heart:

I have been trying to get caught up on some but I am still way behind , I have several new ones that I need to get started on! I agree with you that is the one of the best ways that we can all pitch in and help.
I just got in my bottle of the Toasted Blend RF SC and I am excited to see if it will add a good smokey type flavor to a couple of my Custard and RY4 type mixes.

I’ve actually put quite a few in the database. I’ve been trying really hard to do that right now. This time I’m actually lacking on discussing them here! Lol!

I have a few RF VG flavors has anyone worked out the sub ratio sc>vg or vg>sc ? @Walt_RealFlavors

Im fairly certain that in the RF thread Walt said the SC are 3-4 times stronger than the VG

agreed. I had/have 5 of the VG flavors. 4 of them were good in the 12 - 15% range. Samoa Cookie I took all the way up to 20% and it was still pretty lacking in flavor.
