Real Flavors Super Concentrates Tasting Notes (Part 1)

Here’s the thing though… If it’s something that you’ll mix as a single flavor, is 5-7% total flavor in your recipe bad? Think of it as a one-shot, which if I’m not mistaken (I’ve never actually used one) are usually used up towards 10% and higher right? It’s still keeping the total % significantly lower than your traditional 10-15+% tpa-type-flavor recipe.

More good new for us EU outcasts, yes that includes the uk too, the rest of the SC range should be with rainbow vapes in a few weeks.

Has anyone tried the Real Flavors Taffy base yet, I was wondering what it was like… mainly just mouthfeel or is it flavored?

not sure how to distinguish between mouthfeel and flavor but I guess I would lean towards more mouthfeel than flavor based on these comments I made:

edit: that post was 8 days ago and I only mixed it on 23Mar so I expect it will only get better with a longer steep.

@Fozzy71 I did a 8% total flavour mix of RF sc just as a test quite early on I found that while not bad the flavours were muted - maybe I missed the mark and ymmv.

The RF sc are very forgiving flavours too much wont make you vomit like some other brands but I found the flavour just wasn’t there at high %.

While I don’t subscribe to the not more than 3.5% rule I do find that too much is not as good.

yeah, that is what I was thinking. If I am happy in the 3.5% range I am not sure it makes much sense to test much/any higher but I may give it a go for science’s sake. I think it might be easier to do in small testers with a single flavor vs an actual recipe as it will be hard to measure such small numbers even in weight if a 20ml recipe has 4 or 6 flavors mixed in requiring some be just 0.04ish grams per flavor.

Thanks for the info.

I am generally at about 40% PG.

Interesting that you mentioned that the “deep fried” didn’t come out for weeks. I don’t get anything now other than Oreo and coffee (liquor? Maybe a Tia Maria kinda thing?). But it is still an amazing vape for one flavour!

I am using a TFV8 at 0.15ohms/65W currently with the DF Oreo liquid but use a KFL+ at 1.8ohms/13w a lot as well. Be Interesting to see the flavour difference…

Has anyone tried or can compare Watermelon (SC) Real Flavors to Watermelon (Inawera)? I’m getting fairly low on the INW and will purchase it again unless RF is a good sub for it… thx

I went big on the FT as well, just too damned good…

I still have my original 16 steeping. I couldn’t wait, and started trying the Apple Pie and Bavarian cream after only 1 week @ 2.5%, which seems rushed. So as others are doing, putting back into the steep tank for at least 2 weeks, to make sure they’ve had a chance to cure. 1 month might be better, but don’t know if I can wait that long.

i still have 47ml of flavoring left. that was part of the first batch I ordered from walmart on the bogo weekend so I have plenty more to mix of that, baklava and pumpkin pie.

There different, not night and day so but I am not sure if the RFSC is better than the INW if that is your taste. The INW is a little more bolder were as the RFSC is a little more fruitier for lack of a better word.

Oh i love INW Watermelon and despite the fact i ordered RF SC WM i also stocked up on INW’s melon just in case.
I got a recipe where i use only INW flavors besides MM.
I will make the same recipe and use SC flavors where i can to see what that recipe will be like.

I tried the Butterfinger flavor at 2% and really liked it from day 3 to a little over 3 weeks. Then the flavor died completely. I’m going to try it again in a couple more weeks to see if the flavor returns, as I have had that happen before during steeps, but it’s not common.

Has anyone else had that experience with it and if so did the flavor return?

Yes same I am due to try it again in a week (it was almost tasteless yesterday) - i did my test at 1.5 it may need more time or flav will have to wait and see.

I tested mine yesterday after testing nutmeg then vaping a little 0mg unflavored. I would say the taste is weak/faint but not tasteless like the unflavored I had vaped just before as it didn’t taste like VG. I could make out the BF notes but they were not as powerful as the other flavors I tested at 2 - 2.5% yesterday like DF Twinkie, Bread Pudding 2 and French Toast 2.

I found the same. I thought the VG concentrates were far to weak. They would be fine for making edible items but for vaping the flavour just wasn’t there until you hit a good 25% which wasn’t economical.
So far with the SC flavours that I’ve bought I’ve found they all taste great and are more true to flavour then pretty much all others I’ve tried. However… 1-2.5%, (for the fruits) is not viable unless you like a really weak vape. I’m yet to try some more mixes as have a couple of litres of random blends i need to vape through first but think a single flavour fruit mix will need at least 5% if not more. So definitely not as potent as inawera fruits for example but they are tastier.

It does seem all over hyped. I’m not knocking RF but from all the comments i was expecting to really get a great flavour from a 2.5% mix. I do have to credit @Walt_RealFlavors and his team for amazingly accurate flavours though. They really are some of the best I’ve tasted. Especially the sugar cookie and vanilla custard.

I’ll toy around with the percentages and come back with what I find a suitable percentage for a good vape. Taste is of course subjective and I do like a lot of flavour so i can appreciate some mixing in the 1-2% range. The sugar cookie did actually taste great at just 2.5% so may just be the fruits that need to go higher.

Completely agree with almost everything you say. A lot of the ones I have tried, especially fruit wise 2.5% is weak standalone, I am personally finding quite a few of the flavours I have way over hyped and not understanding the fuss, but I do really really like two or three of the ones I have tried. They are all ok though, nothing awful, all decent unlike the VG… but I am not enthused to keep trying others personally.

Each to their own. Personally 2.5% is strong for me but as it is always said everybody tastes differently or we would all like broccoli. I am interested in what devices you guys are vaping on and the steep times you are using.

Whats wrong with broccoli?
Brussels sprouts on the other hand…
