Real Flavors Super Concentrates Tasting Notes (Part 1)

After taking Fozzy’s lead, I’m doing 20ml bottles now. Not for the smaller %'s, but more so, so I can get a good 10ml to play with on my first test date, 2 weeks or so, then I have some left for later down the road tests. Good stuff Fozzy.

Actually I think we should drop the “Beta” reference all together.otherwise 6 months from now there is going to be a French Toast Beta and a French Toast (and possibly a V1, V2). And a year after that the “Beta” tag will still be floating around although most (I’m sure there will be still some out there) of the flavoring will either not be in circulation or on anyone’s shelves.

This is what I’m going to achieve.

That is the scale I’ve had my eye on $60 in Canada but I only want to buy once. ‘FA’ Flavour Art?
I’ve been spent dozens of hours reading/researching on here, but the more I read the more I feel like I need to read even more. The knowledge here is endless!

My original plan was to line up 10 x 5ml bottles of single flavours each with a sight variation. I quickly learned that was not viable. In theory it sounded like the perfect strategy

I’ve put a lot of time into it, and it’s had it’s fair share of tumbles and abuse, but it just won’t stop working flawlessly. The backlighting (blue button) is very nice, as well as the AC adapter which means your scale will NOT time out as MANY of the scales out there do. I do have (2) 200g. weights handy as I cal. it each time I get on a mixing binge, and about 9 times out of 10, no cal. is required. Can’t give it enough praise.

Because I only have 20 or 21 tester bottles at the moment I end up trying to test 6 or 7 at a time/group that I think would taste ok together if they were in a recipe together and once I am done testing them, and need the bottles washed for more testers, I just dump the remnants together into a 120 or 150ml bottle and toss it in the steep cabinet as a franken-recipe to vape on later, good or bad.
I have a number of these concoctions in the cabinet right now. If it is leaning towards the bad or weak end of the scale at that point I may add in a bit of extra/random flavoring or mix in some other partial bottles of recipes to change it up. I am pretty easy to please when it comes to flavors/vaping and I hate to waste so even if I am not a huge fan it will get vaped eventually, one way or another.

I hate wasting as well. A few flavours I bought on line on sale without tasting were too horrible to be saved and I had to trash, but most times I’ve been mixing with various pre made. Some have surprisingly turned out rather well.

Mixed up a simple recipe with 2.5% Watermelon SC and 3% Raspberry SC. After 1 week it is a wonderful vape. The flavors are vibrant and sweet without any off notes. The final mix is around 95% VG. I will let it steep another week to see if the flavors fade or get better but for now it’s a really nice vape.

It will be really difficult to stick with one supplier. I know it’s a PITA but if you stay with one line only you wish miss some gems. Even the, how do I word it, not so premium flavors have their place in mixing. Instead of ordering direct from FA you should check out the resource page on the recipe side and pick a supplier that carries multiple brands. Even then you may have to shop at several different suppliers to get everything you want.

Oh definitely! I’ve been scouring the flavour list, sorting by reviews, reading notes, threads on other brands etc. I have several 'must buy’s from a few brands. I know what flavours I want to start with (like vanillas, marshmallow, creams, custards, chocolates, strawberry, sugar cookie, butter cream, graham cracker, caramel, banana, lol and every sweetener available  ) and will buy the top rated versions from various brands.

if the beta has changed at all it should not be merged they are two different flavors at that point , someone who has a beta and then buys the new version has to have a way to keep them separate

I’m only now getting a look back in here. I couldn’t agree more with @fidalgo_vapes. I only recently got round to doing a few single flavour tests and I was shocked at how extremely weak the so called big brands are to me. To such an extent that I’ll not be restocking the majority of TPA and CAP flavous I have now.

Maybe we need code names for betas next time… Like Carrot Cake could have been… The Orange Rabbit

:stuck_out_tongue: I would have too much fun with that ha

I realized this nearly 2 years ago. I’ve since converted my stash to mostly premium flavors. I still have more to do, but I use very few of the brands you mentioned. I have tried over time to convince mixers to try some premiums so they can see the difference.

I’m sorry I didn’t see that post when I joined here first. Choice is limited here so that can make converting a bit harder. The comparison to even FA is very noticeable.

IMO the key is researching flavor choices before you buy them. Looking at the top rated mixes, newer mixers would think the common flavors are the best there is, but over time some would come to realize that those common flavors are subpar to the premiums.

That’s basically what I did. As a new mixer you don’t have the luxury of researching every flavour before you buy it. You want to get juice you can vape and the highly rated ones seem like the obvious place to start. You’re already researching mods, tanks, battery safety, coil building and the list goes on. So researching flavours is pretty far down that list.

I agree… That’s how it was for me. I was all about the vape gear and coil building in the beginning, then I realized most of my mixes were shit. The best mod/tank setup in the world couldn’t help a bad mix. I asked a ton of questions and the answer I got over and over was test your flavors and research. I’ve tried to stress this in several posts, but buying junk flavors seem to be a part of the DIY process.
