Recipe comments are confusing

I havent been a member od ELR for very long and havent posted many recipes yet. The few i have posted have received comments along the lines of, “use proper names for ingredients and repost” etc… ive updated my stash to the tee so im not sure what i am doing wrong. A recipe that i posted as as public i think was changed to private by an admin (with a comment similar to the one just mentioned). Am i doing something wrong? Is there a specific recipe posting protocol i am not following? :man_shrugging:t2:

@KAPOW the recipes look fine, you are just using less known or local flavors.

Looks like LCL to me …

Hence my lack of understanding of the comments

Disregard them in this case @KAPOW, your syntax was correct. Sometimes there can be confusion on certain brands. You’re good mate.

I totally understand what you mean by syntax, just sounds funny because thats what the SA government “calls” the taxes imposed in things like nicotine… SIN TAX :rofl:

@KAPOW can you please link to that recipe so i can check it out. As far as notes, and percentages, they are not required, BUT, can help people out who are mixing your recipes, as well as what you are testing it on. Not required though.

I think they mean, for example, peppermint should read Peppermint and MIXED BERRIES should be Mixed Berries. It junks up the database with incorrect names.

Funny enough, i typed Peppermint with a capital P and the drop down menu offered that one as the one to pick. I never type in bold unless i want to crap somebody out on social media platforms or through personally related texts, so again that is what was offered by the “stash” drop down menu as an option.

Alright @KAPOW I see what’s going on, and it’s somewhat confusing.

At first glance, the things that stand out are the WS-23 doesn’t have a MFG name, Menthol Liquid is lower case, and appears non valid, MIXED BERRIES is in all caps, which again, appears non-valid, and peppermint is all lowercase, which appears non-valid.

With the menthol liquid, it actually IS legit, BUT, the correct format would be the third choice, i.e. Menthol Liquid (PG) (TPA).

With the FA Peppermint, the correct choice would be the third choice, i.e. Peppermint (Mild Winter) (FA).

Now with the WS-23, that flavor is train wrecked on ELR, because even without a MFG name, the one you used has also been used 10,924 other times !!! I’m not even sure which one IS correct, as I don’t use cooling agents.

And finally, the Capella Mixed Berry (not berries) was just a typo …

As a GENERAL rule, when searching for a flavor, the most used (most times) is the accurate one. I’m sure this seems like nit-picking, or a PITA, but imagine how many incorrect flavors are entered into the database. It adds up, and then it’s a total mess.

You should really read and follow the instructions in the link below, which WAS not written by me. In the recipe you posted, there are 3 possibly 4 changes you should make.

My pleasure @KAPOW. Now the Peppermint !!! You’re going to HATE THIS.

I tried by entering “Peppermint”, and “peppermint”, and guess what ?? NO choice for the correct Flavor Art flavor, NONE !!!

Now, I used a trick that I use, which was I entered “Peppermint FA”, and low and behold, NOW it showed up !!!

I know, I know. How the #%$^#$%$^& is anyone supposed to know, or remember all of this LOL.

Typically when I enter flavors, I’ll enter the flavor name, and then the MFG abbreviation like I just showed, to help out. I can’t answer why the correct flavor did NOT appear when only entering “peppermint”.

Stash updated accordingly and recipe adjusted, does this look better?

Hehe, yeah, I don’t know how often (if ever) the forum software pulls a FRESH LOAD, as opposed to the cached copy.
