So I have a short work day today and gathered my mods, juice and tanks and put into my Stanley tool bag I use as a tote. Juice bottles on the inside, mods with tanks attached in the outer pockets. I go downstairs where my wife and dog are hanging out and I set the bag in my usual place…at the end of the back rest of the chaise lounge. I sat next to it as always. Then my wife decides its time for a little horseplay and plops down beside me, knocking the bag and all contents off the back of the chaise lounge and into my dog’s water bowl. I have a BIG dog, so naturally a big water bowl. You guessed it, all my mods were submerged in the water. That is 2 Efusion, 1 Reuleaux DNA200 and 1 RX200. Each one was leaking water as I plucked it from my dog’s swimming poo…ahem, I mean water bowl.
Well cut my legs off and call me shorty!!! What a deal huh. Being the ever-inquisitive one I had to try and fire each one to see if they still worked. Nope…all are DOA. But I have them sitting in rice for now so hopefully when they dry out we’ll be back in business. I certainly don’t want to have to replace all that shit! Now I’m stuck with my xCube II for the rest of the day. Lord why me?
Dropped my sig 150 in 2 feet of water crossing a river. Completely submerged for 30 seconds. No question everything was wet inside and out. Drained water left out to dry and next day fired without issue. However month later stopped working. Can not say cause and effect though as i do stupid shit like this quite often lol
damnnnnnnnn thats a nightmare… hope the rice does the trick… tho if you tried firing them before hand, idk… hope for the best. prayers be with your recovering mods!
Seriously though, my heart goes out to you. I knocked a gallon of water over on my Reuleaux DNA about a month ago. I didn’t fire it. Just pulled the batteries immediately, left the back off, and set it so the display was facing up to drip dry. Left it overnight and it’s worked like a champ ever since. I truly hope you have as good of an outcome.
Man that is the worst news I have heard all day! I hope it is an April fools Joke! I have to keep my mods placed in strategic locations around the house , that way hopefully I can save at least one in case of natural or man made disaster! Never keep all your mods in one basket or bag!
At least the woman of the house can’t say a thing when you order three new DNA 200’s, after all she was to blame right?
Get em ordered and get back on the couch before she gets out of the mood!
I love it!!! Actually I’ve been looking for an excuse to buy a DNA 133. But if they work after drying I will keep holding off. I figure by the time I need to buy new mods something fantastic will be available.
Nope…not an April Fool’s joke I’m sad to say. But oh well, it’s just stuff. And stuff can be replaced.
So very sorry Hopefully they dry out and work! Just be careful. My iStick 100 had that nautilus tank leak into it and I let it dry out a week… the next week yes it dried out enough to use BUT it autofired on me burning the batteries inside and luckily I caught it before it caused a bigger problem.
Oh dang that sux so bad ! It must be the week of miss haps I was sleeping for work and my fiance’ had his mod sitting on the covers and forgot about it as he pulled the covers up and turned over…( meanwhile I am asleep ) the damn mod cold-cocked me right in the face right under my eye on my cheek bone what a way to wake up !
Obviously he had no idea what I was screaming about then noticed…oh shit…I’m fine just some mild bruising I’ll live. Your mods I hope they make it !!! Come on the power of rice heal those mods !!!
Oh yea it was pretty bad and to have to work the next two nights…still a lil swollen and definitely hurts like crap and bruising. I iced it so I’ll heal
Firstly, I’m really sorry and oh God…I understand …I did that to a very expensive camera. ($1400.00)
I did not know it at the time but the way to save them would have been to immediately remove the batteries and let them sit for a few days drying out so nothing shorted… and then use new batteries to test fire them when you knew they were completely dry.
