Hi, I am new and glad to be part of this great forum, I have a couple of questions:-
when I have mixed my juice & nicotine [Strawbery custard] in a 100 ml bottle [or if good taste 500ml bottle] how do you steep? do I leave the screw cap on or off?, is steeping allowing air into the bottle or not?
if I store a mixture long term [say six months] is it best to keep screw cap on and keep air out? or occasionaly open cap to let air in?
Never take the cap off, shake and let sit in a cool cupboard. If it seems harsh, it’ll smooth out with a steep. You’re just letting flavour evaporate with the cap off.
As for storage, I think the air left in the container will do nothing, but the hardcore DIY nerds have used a gas called Argon I believe it was called, but that’s just nerdy posturing imho.
Welcome to ELR @IA1. As others have stated, the length of the steep depends on the recipe. Fruits a week or so, bakeries, and some custards 2-4 weeks, heavy custards 4 weeks, tobaccos/NET’s even longer.
Never uncap, as if you can smell the flavors, while uncapped, you are LOOSING flavor molecules/compounds = less flavor.
You’re welcome @IA1, and please remember, all of this is our ADVICE, so you could always TRY a few (small) samples, in 10ml bottles. Leave one capped for a month or two, the other uncapped, and see what YOU think at the end.
About the only time I can remember “venting” juices, were when I had HIGH levels of flavors that were alcohol based, but even then, not sure what I vented more, flavor molecules OR the alcohol LOL.
