Sterling Cloud Flavors Reviewed by SessionDrummer -- Testing Now

Key Lime (Sterling Cloud) 3.5% I gotta say Session Drummer hit this right on the head. Though I think that this is a perfect Key Lime flavor. This is almost an exact replica of Nellie and Joes Key West Lime Juice. It’s really natural, not too sweet and with very light lime zest notes. This is by far the best Key Lime flavor I’ve ever tried. 10/10

Wow, I wish I’d thought of that comparison. Very good call.

Eggnog (Sterling Cloud) 2.5/3.5% (12-15-24) – Picked this one up later, and technically it was Apex, but will leave it as Sterling Cloud for simplicity. Out of the gate, you could tell this one was an eggnog. A light cream element, some vanilla, and some spices, which seemed to be a light cinnamon and nutmeg. At my initial testing weight of 2.5% it felt a little thin and lacking the creamy mouthfeel so I bumped it to 3.5%, and it improved, but only slightly. It was almost as if you could taste the cream, more than feel it, i.e. mouthfeel. Still tasty, but still kind of thin overall. It was similar to LorAnn’s, and it had an almost cream cheese-ey-ness to it. At times, I could have sworn I was picking up a light butterscotch note, but it wasn’t always present.

There was an undertone mixed in with the vanilla, which implied some eggy-ness, but it wasn’t overt or in your face. I thnk this one would pair up nicely with another eggnog, and would benefit from a little more eggy-ness, and creamy mouthfeel. In the ballpark, and would just need a little help. At 3.5% it was tasty, but felt a little thin, and underpowered, and sweetness was 2-3 ticks below mid-level. No off-notes or complaints not already listed, and still rated it fairly high as it was fairly accurate at an 8.4/10.

This needs some more steep and probably a tad but of Neotame or whichever Sweetener you like.

@fidalgo_vapes I can see it working good like that, 2:1 with the FLV.

Well thanks to @D.Sims, and his overflowing Holiday generosity, we’ve got some MORE Sterling Cloud (APEX) flavors to add to this series. I will update/add these to the OG post for easier reading. Thanks @D.Sims

I will be mixing these up today, and let them begin they’re steeping. I haven’t decided on the testing weight, as during the OG run, where I started out at 2.5%, I did increase more than a few to 3.5%, so I may end up just mixing/testing at the higher weight. We’ll see, it’s CHRISTMAS !!!

My first go… If you don’t like this in your thread @SessionDrummer, just lmk bro. Thx!

This French vanilla is truly delightful. Tested at 3%, it really stands out! It’s incredibly smooth with a touch of sweetness, which I personally enjoy.

The possibilities here are limitless. As a true “vanilla fan,” this will definitely become a staple in my future mixes.

Using the standard 1-10 scale, I’d have to give it a solid 9.5+. If you can get your hands on it, I highly recommend doing so!

I tested this using my Hellvape DR2 with a single coil setup, running at 45 watts on my Geekvape T200. Thanks

Vanilla Ice Cream

I started this out @ 2% and it was good, but I thought it could’ve used a little more “Kick”, so I bumped it up to 3% and things improved. The flavor is fuller at 3% and I get the actual “Ice Cream” flavor coming through. It’s like a “Deans” product. Nothing spectacular, but a Vanilla Ice Cream, nonetheless.

The aroma is wonderful- and I immediately wanted to put a few drops into the morning pancake batter. Ha!

She is a tad bit dry as a single flavor, so I would add a cream into the mix when building a recipe. “Personal preference”

Skies the limit with this on as well. Another good one from Apex/Sterling Cloud that I would pick up 100%. Pretty good stuff!

: Vanilla Custard Type Sterling Cloud @3%

I LOVE me a good vanilla custard, so it’s difficult to mess this up unless the flavor just sucks. This flavor is a Plain Jane VC. It’s smooth, tastes good, but lacks something?! I can’t put my finger on it exactly… Would I use it in a mix? For sure!

We all know finding “1” single ingredient for a solo is near impossible, but this flavor creamy and smooth with mid-level vanilla notes. A start for a Base, absolutely! Would I buy it?! YES I WOULD!

There is another VC in their line I have mixed up- and will review soon.

Do you know if these flavors are DAAP free or not?? If they are Daap free that could be whats missing

UPDATE

Looks like the AP in Daap is listed along with Butyric…Butyric is often what is used to replace the DAAP…Apex has great SDS sheets

Yeah, probably the “buttery baddies”…

Would you say this is a must have for custard lovers that have a large array of other VC’s? I’m taking notes of these reviews to possibly make an order soon, but so far, nothing is jumping out at me…

With your flavor stash, I would say no @Lynda_Marie. That french vanilla should be on your list tho… I have the rest of the line steeping rn- and will post a few more this weekend.

Wait for the “Master” himself to post tho. As we know; his articulation of words is STRONG.
