The Elusive Honey Bun

Then I thought, where am I duplicating efforts?
And pulled out and tweaked some flavors.
This is honeybun 2

And then the minimalistic version, the one where I’ve either learned something and subsequently share with you my victory, or hit myself in the forehead and apologize for wasting your time.

The only wrong thing about your recipes is that they are Private …

You are doing the biggest thing right, by writing down what you are tasting, what you think you taste…

by not seeing the recipes, its hard to see how you did them.
I will say keeping it simple, is better.

In vape form, simple is the only way to go. I took peach cobbler, because it was my fav… and it turned out to be a 31 flavored recipe. No joke. With a crapton of manufactures… in the end it cost me a hour every time I mixed it, even tho it was one of the best recipes I ever did taste, years ago, I lost the desire to keep the recipe going.

Nowdays with the flavors out, it doesn’t take 31 flavors to make the best juice ever… I think for a realistic approach… I would aim for under 13 for myself. I haven’t had the want to vape a honey bun, but I won’t say it isnt possible.

Maybe when I get an urge to mix one I will… I can say I love flv honey… and I do not use it often in my public mixes… maybe I might toss up something with it… even the blackberry blossom is just amazeballs lol… but that is just me… there is no fruits in a honey bun :stuck_out_tongue:

Okay I’m back in business, undoubtedly for a few more days before it happens again.
I checked the private box last night but neglected to hit save, which does nothing.
So they are viewable.
On the k buckle test, one and two are bullied by the cinnamon, and it gives off a Kat puke essence that will render them useless.
However, honeybun 3 tastes pretty close after just a day, and I have a fair amount of hope that even if it doesn’t replicate a little Debbie honeybun, it will taste good and replicate something, which I will simply tell my friends is what I was trying to duplicate. They will all think I’m a genius.
Oh and by the way, Smokey was right about the citrus in an indirect way. Apple pie uses an acid, usually lemon juice, to make it more tart. So while you won’t see lemon juice in my recipe, it’s there, in the apple pie. You’ll all see nods to your contributions to the conversation.
Next I am going to go after the ice cream sandwich. I saw Wayne from DIY OR DIE TRY to make an oreo cookie about a year ago, and Oreos and the chocolate part of the ice cream sandwich are similar in that they both (food wise) have Graham flour in them. So I need a soggy chocolatey cookie and delicious vanilla ice cream and I should be good to go. Plus I get to eat 5 ice cream sandwiches in the interest of science.

Idk what the current situation is with the real flavors sc line, but if they are available from that new company and unchanged then rfsc cookies and cream is the definitive Oreo flavor, my only issue with it was it was the original Oreo that barely has any Creme filling lol. I have worked a lot with it in the past and it could be bent into an ice cream sandwich cookie pretty easily, cap sugar cookie v1 at low percentages really softens up the crispy crunch type flavor that rfsc cookies and cream has, a graham cracker could maybe do the same but I never went that route so idk.

Upon further review, his Oreo recipe video is old and doesn’t have many of the newer flavors available. I like your idea of, instead of taking flavors to build “up to” and Oreo, take an oreo and dull it down a bit, and then introduce smooth creamy ice cream vanilla, maybe LB VIC.

My recipe for “honeybun 2” steeped for three weeks and proved the winner of my three attempts at honeybun. I also sometimes reload with honeybun 3 (simpler) and it is quite delicious. Keep in mind, this is attempting to replicate the Little Debbie brand of honeybun, which is very much “cheap apple pie”.
I think I nailed it. I would love to hear what others think.
I carry this with me every day, it is one of 5 ADVs I include in my overstuffed man purse.
Anyone who’d like to try it, hit me up, I’d love to do a few 30 ml swaps, in fact, that reminds me, I Need to send some of my better Mixes to Dan the Man, who sent me several flavor testers some time ago.
Cheers everyone!
