Vape Tax UK (1st Oct 2026)

To start, I wasn’t sure which category to put this post on, so just went with the general public. :face_with_peeking_eye: New to the forums really, only made a couple of posts. :joy:

As of the 1st of October 2026 the UK government is imposing a vape tax on all vape liquids, including nicotine shots.

The flat rate will be £0.22 per 1ml of liquid plus the 20% tax. So, a 10ml bottle of eliquid will go up roughly by £2.64. This won’t only affect the sale of ready made eliquids, but it may also affect the purchase of DIY products. If a product is sold for the purpose of vaping, then that product will be heavily taxed. Meaning PG/VG will also fall under that bracket and most likely won’t be easily available to purchase at any flavouring/vaping websites and would have to be sourced elsewhere.

I just spoke with someone from king flavours, and she assured me it shouldn’t affect the pricing of their flavourings or even other retailers flavourings, as they aren’t solely tailored towards DIY vaping they’re food/drink flavourings too. You might see websites like Nom Nomz or Darkstar, use wordings like “food flavouring” instead to accommodate this.

As I say nicotine prices will surely sky rocket. I’m thinking of bulk buying nicotine in preparation for this and was wondering if there is any suggestions on how to freeze it. Is glass Pyrex best or plastic? Obviously I want to make sure I have enough to last a long time, because I dread to think what the price of nicotine might end up being. I was looking at purchasing a large 5L of 72mg nic salt to freeze. Set me back a few bob, but might be good for the long run. :man_shrugging:

I’m just wondering how anyone from the UK, feels about this? What is everyone’s thoughts? What are your plans for this? I know it’s been a pain for some areas of the US, plus the ban in Australia. It seems like vaping might end up being a thing of the past the way things are going. :sob:

Hi mate I’m in the uk so the same boat as you

I get my nic from nicotinehub and select the amber glass bottles I use 72mg in 100ml bottle [pg]

Ordered 3 bottles for the freezer it won’t freeze it just keeps it stable for few years

The vg and pg I was getting from dark star but have now sourced lubrisolve from Amazon

As Amazon is not a vape store and selling the vg and pg for a number of things I doubt the price for this will go up

Flavours like you said should be fine

Hope this helps a little mate

I also usually buy 500ml 72mg nic salt from Nichub myself. Does usually last my 6 months or so when I’m using for myself and others. So I was thinking of just purchasing one of their 5L bottles of the stuff. As regards freezing, I wasn’t too sure about the glass bottles, just didn’t want them to crack or get damaged.

Again, Darkstar is where I usually get my base mix from. :joy: Will have to look around, see what the cheaper options are when the time comes. Dreading it to be honest. :sob:

Most likely the UK vape tax will only affect Nicotine and Nicotine based products. Like premade commercial juice and disposables. VG and PG should not be affected because those are used for retail food production and even DIY crafts. I personally use VG to make glycerin based scented soaps and lotions. Now some suppliers like Nomz and DarkStar may stop carrying Nicotine, but VG PG and flavorings are food based and do not fall under the same regulations as vape products.

Not necessarily the vape tax will probably bring more people over to the DIY community, as the usual vape flavors or disposables that they purchase will get more expensive. And with the price of cigarettes being OUTRAGEOUS, diy mixing e-liquid will probably be the choice for anyone who vapes commercial liquids or disposables. The only other choice would be to quit all together and anyone who has tried to go cold turkey off of nicotine (cigs or vape) knows it’s really difficult to quit.

And I am maybe one of the first people on here to switch to DIY to beat that nasty tax coming

I was getting juice off a friend and then decided you know what I can do this

With the help of everyone on here I have achieved two juices I love so much (mothers milk and twister)

That’s what the woman at king flavours (forgot her name :man_facepalming:) was saying to me. She was saying it might be good for them, as it will bring more and more people to them who are making the switch to diy. I’m not worried about anything else, just the nicotine prices going up that bother me.

I’m going to make a wholesale purchase for some nicotine, but I just keep thinking of some point in the future a few years down the line, finishing that final drop of Nic and think “God I’m going to have to try and get some more.”:rofl::joy:

You can always use the Vapocalypse Calculator@ Vapocalypse Calculator to get a general idea of how long your nicotine will last you if stored correctly.
