What Are You Listening To? (Part V) 2021

Saw them both again about two summers ago. Palmer is the only one alive. The casino where I live has out door concerts. Had Palmer and Yes played that night too.(no Anderson). Then went to Rivina to see Yes with Anderson and Wakeman. Two bands calling themselves Yes. Doing the same music. Must be a riff between the old members. Wakeman and Anderson were great. Last concert I saw.

ELP gave Yes their start. I believe Wakeman made a tribute album to ELP to thank them.

wow, you guys got in to early’ish. my very first concert was the Doobie Brothers at Taste of Shitcago, 82, mayor Burns Honky Fest(yes, that is what it was unofficially called. apparently there were little/no black vendors there. so the blacks boycotted it). anyway, Navy Pier(when it was still a dock), the place was a sardine can = jaam F’n PACKED. general admission, i forced my way up to about 6th row, just off to the right. it was touted as DB’s last concert. turned out to be the first of many of their “last concerts”, lol. and thats good, darned good band, and that was a great show ! i was 17

Alright! Now we’re talking. There’s “music” and there’s awesomely “cool” music. Yeah, absolute cracker @Bad_Influence. Thanks for the reminder :star_struck:.

You’re welcome, happy to help! This particular song is one of my all time favs with Les Claypool, Brain Mantia and Ler LaLonde. Actually I’m a bit of a Marc Ribot guy when it comes to Tom Waits guitar stuff but Ler is doing an awesome job there.
Definately the kind of music that doesn’t get old.

Here’s some of tracks where Marc Ribot played:

I must have posted this one 20 times over the years but the guitar solo is unbelievable:

I record stuff off the TV sometimes and for some reason I recorded a Japanese animated movie entitled “When Marnie Was There” and this little number plays over the closing credits. I realise we’re all different yada-yada-yada but this one burrows deep inside and I don’t know why. Pretty sure someone out there will like this. Might just put this one on my “funeral songs” list (yeah, I actually have a list for that ). Oh and BTW, I watched it this arvo and it was a great little movie with a kick-ass ending I never saw coming :open_mouth: .

I like Fleetwod Mac’s earlier stuff with Peter Green more than the McVie/Nicks/Buckingham era but Rhiannon is just a magical song… I remember when I was a child and it was on German radio all the time. Thanks for sharing!

For me, Fleetwood Mac has two identities, one with Peter Green and the other from when Buckinham-Nicks joined as a package deal. I enjoy both identities. Kind of like the Moody Blues with Denny Laine versus post-Denny Laine. For me, it’s great to have the history and appreciate the differences.

there also is a bio on Fleetwood Mac, money corrupts, they lived that life.
on tour, they would have their favorite mexican food flown in from LA, $15,000 a meal for the band.
Mic was so broke at one point, that he lived in a motor home in the studio parking lot, yet he still had the money for drugs.

A friend just posted a link to a world radio station called Radio Garden, started in the Netherlands several years ago.
