Now we can’t dismiss that Michelle is making that connection on her own, unless the employer specifically said that is the reason she was not hired. I’m not going to turn the guy on the spit just yet.
social security card
Phil, and you’d be right except my daughter has been doing this same job for another manufacturing plant (still is) for the last 7 months and she is always above quota. This is a different company and they pay $6 more an hour. While he said they went with a male employee instead, they didn’t SPECIFICALLY say it was ONLY because he was a man. I do however know more than a few men that work for this company and they are sexist pigs outside of the job, not sure how they act inside.
I agree, but that is what your tax dollars pay for, if said, and especially if job is turned down. Federal and State agencies all there to find the truth. Baqesh Emet
I’m not trying to be right or wrong, honestly. So, have you spoken to them yet? I’d ask them why she wasn’t selected. Of course, I don’t think they’re required to tell you. Also could easily be that there are a lot of applicants, since this seems to be a more lucrative option than the same thing elsewhere. No offense intended to your daughter!
edited so my answer above… I actually didn’t. I wrote our female governor instead because I was more than a little upset over this… While I’m a girly girl and have no issues with working at home… my daughter wants to make her own way in the world without a partner… so yeah I’m bothered that it isn’t her choice
I wish ‘my’ tax dollars were wisely spent, but that’s not worth whining about here!
What is ‘the truth’, anyway? And how will they find out without a wiretap or digital evidence? Unless the fellow said “Sorry, but you’re a she!!” unfortunately it looks like a missed opportunity.
The guy could be a sexist arsehole, or a great guy, I don’t know.
I get ya, But being in the investigative field and law enforcement for over 35 years the truth I know can be illusive, but that is why it is investigated.
I hate to keep playing Devil’s Advocate, but how do you know this was the reason she was not hired? I’m just saying, it isn’t necessarily fair to accuse this guy of discrimination without all facts in evidence.
And let’s be sure we’re clear- I have not a single sexist bone in my body. I am also well in favor of ‘the best candidate’ based on nothing but a resume. But that includes hiring a male over a female if the qualifications call for it. I’m just not a fan of others accusing someone of a motive when it hasn’t been established. Again, he could be a jerkface pig, but he could also have had to choose from 50 applicants too.
I could even go so far as to say it sounds like you’re the sexist one! “Hire her over him because she is a she!!! It isn’t fair otherwise!!!”
It’s my kid of course she was the best choice for the job my issue is they took all her information then turned her down… as in filled out paperwork, got her hopes up and then hired someone else. Now if he had never brought up … because you’re a woman, this wouldn’t have been an issue at all.
I’m with you there!!!
That’s fair enough too. I hope that really wasn’t the deciding factor, because that hurts.
And included an interview (from the sounds of it originally).
If they hadn’t done any/all of the above, perhaps then you’d have grounds… But as it is, “that’s life”. Hate to say it, hate to hear it… But sometimes, it is what it is.
Not worth the stress it’s adding to your life.
Move on, and be grateful she’s not working for a POS company!
Price gouging.
And having to mute more threads.
When people come into your store and proceed to yell at you for not having Clorox wipes toilet paper and hand sanitizer.
I hate that this even has to happen. It’s probably the right thing to do but …
We’ll see if this is a good idea or not, as things progress…
Not paying attention to my juice level… uggh dry hit
Your response is funny as hell and also very true lol.
