What do you really hate? (II)

If you’ve been paying attention, if you’re hearing about it, they’ve already done it.

They may of approved it but there is no way it can be done fairly. Surprised this hasn’t gone to court. Technology is good but it isn’t perfect or fast enough to cover a population of 6 and half million people. It would take a decade to fairly implement.

All governments that privatize profits and socialize losses, that is, all governments…
I hate them to death…

Government websites. Try to avoid them as much as possible even when it comes to big issues like Medicare/Medicaid, Social Security and the likes. I’ve been trying to help a family member sign up for SocSec benefits for almost 2 weeks. The website says it’s easier to sign up online. It’s a LIE. I would get into details but I’m overwhelmed by it all. Long story short, I got a live rep from the local SSA office and she was able to get the job done on the phone within a half hour. The trick is getting the number for your local office. Online info claims there is one universal number for SocSec that connects with all the branches. Don’t buy it. You might need to get a SocSec rep on the phone to give you your local number. Whatever the case may be in your state, I recommend going through a live rep or else you will be subject to a facial video scanning via your mobile phone’s selfie cam. It’s a creepy experience and not necessary via a live phone rep. Good luck.

Make a appointment to a walk in office. Meet with an agent. It will go as smooth as glass and they will backdate too. Any questions are answered before you leave. For a government agency they will do what is best for you.

It’s easier to do it via telephone and the call is your official start date as opposed to requesting a paper copy, filling it out and returning it. Be prepared for them to deny it. SSA usually denies the 1st application and appeal (I’ve worked with someone who’s on his 5th appeal). Keep going with the appeal process and don’t let it lapse. This keeps your orig file date active and your pay will be retro to that date. If your appeal date lapses, you have to start all over again.

Edit: if anyone is applying, see if you can find an agency that has SOAR trained staff. Their application submittals are usually approved on the first try and on average, take about 45 days.

Omg, how can they appeal a person’s SS benefits? I can see if there was something fishy about your information but to deny what’s rightfully your’s, something you worked for your entire life? Cripes, I hope that doesn’t happen. Thank you for the helpful info.

Personally, I think they want you to give up so they don’t pay. Happens all the time.

No, really? That just makes me ill. Besides how can someone give up on their SS benefits, that’s their own money? F#cking government makes me sick.
