WHAT Has Made You Smile Today? (II)

If it makes any better, it has been very cold here. It didn’t go above 40 today and it’ll hit mid 20’s tonight. Good thing I still have my thermals and LL Bean shirts that are over 25 years old.

Nothing works like the old thermals. I have a bunch of old Carhartt, some Bean and some Dickies.
Still work great to this day.
But I will say the new Carhartt shit is cheaply made today as compared to the old stuff.

I’ve heard that LL Bean’s quality has also declined. Has it? I have 3 shirts I wear often that are at least 25 years old and they’re in remarkable condition.

I don’t have any new Bean stuff so I don’t know.
I have 4 heavyweight flannel shirts and a few winter hats that are very warm still after 15 to 20 years.
I just know the Carhartt heavyweight hoodies aren’t what they used to be. I bought a couple of new ones online and they weigh about half as much as my old ones and not as warm. Plus now they are made in Mexico

I read the other day that Carhartt is making workers get vaccinated even though the Supreme Court stopped the Feds from doing it. I’ve never heard of the company until the other day. Of course, I haven’t needed heavy clothing for the past 22 years. Now I do, though.

This guy is hilarious. The guy being interviewed is clueless and humorless.

I have worked outside my whole life and bought nothing but Carhartt for outerwear. Used to be a great product. Last decade they moved all their production to Mexico and India and have down graded their products. All that is left of the company in the US is the suites.
All the production of their competition has done the same. Dickies, Work & Sport, Carhartt rule the construction and farm work trades.

@rcleven I think Carhart is going to go the way of the dodo.

Na. They have cheapend their products over the years but I have product that’s 35 years old. As I have mentioned the playing field is vast but their duck products are the best out there. Heavy sweats are equal to Dickey and insulated bibs still can’t be beat. All the other manufacturers have gone off shore too. It’s all going down hill.

Lol! East of Toronto eh??! I was beginning to wonder if there was anyone from Canada even on this Site!! I just moved from Orillia Ontario to Edmonton Alberta.
It wasn’t even planned. There was only 1 rehabilitation center in this Country that would accept animals and that place was called called “Beyond 12 Steps,” in Salmon Arm British Columbia and I wasn’t going without my 2 cats! In the Now there’s none in Canada because they don’t even accept animals. I always cleaned up after, them. So.idk why…sorry for the long.reply I am bothered because without them I wouldn’t be better.

Woot!
That was a gut clencher at the end. Not a high scorer, but a damn good game.

Anyway my point was I ended up staying here my parents died from smoking and I had to get-away from a scary guy so I had my friend grab ally stuff out of storage in Orillia and drive it 4 days here and back now I’m here in Alberta. Weird how life takes us where we need to be. I met someone who treats me good and it seems to be working out.

Knowing I can sleep in tomorrow (Wed) morning and not having to go to work. To all our fellow Aussies out there … Happy Australia Day! :australia: :australia: :australia:

I’m happy for the mild snowfall in Denver today. Was enough to quiet things down and the main streets were fine to drive on. However, the side streets were a bit slick. I’m still waiting for a big snowstorm of 14" - 18". No wonder my friends think I am a bit weird.

@Dardy Happy Australia Day. My dad loved his time in Australia during his Navy career. And heck, when I rode horses as a serious hobby, I rode Aussie…saddle, hat and duster.

Thanks @Cary1. Is this you riding in your saddle, hat and duster in the snow you’re looking forward to? Thanks mate.

So I let everyone at work know that I won’t be working Thurs and Fri this week and everyone wished me a good four day weekend. They asked what I was doing and I said I would be "trippin’ ".
“Bring back pictures” they said. “Ummm…ok”, I replied.
They don’t know I’m going in for a colonoscopy.

Not really at liberty to divulge too much my friend but let’s just say I made a couple of discreet enquiries and next thing you know… Cheers.
