WHAT Has Made You Smile Today? (II)

RAIN!!!

It’s finally raining in California. It’s been nice to have a slow, soaking rain again. Fired up the woodstove and seriously thinking about some beef stew for dinner. Some days, it’s the simple things, ya know?

You can use your wood stove out there?
If so, I wonder how long that will be permitted

We do have regulations regarding the use and sale of wood burning stoves(In CA? Regulations? Say it ain’t so!) but when we rebuilt from the Camp Fire, we got a fairly efficient one. It’s made of primarily soapstone and cast iron, with a reburner built inside of the woodbox. Keeps the house pretty damn toasty and looks beautiful to boot!

They’re calling for flash flood warnings in the burn scars of the Dixie, Caldor, Monument, and a whole slew of others. Being in the foothills of the Sierra/Cascade range, flash floods don’t affect us too much, but the flatlanders can get soggy with a quickness! We had some really bad flooding back at the beginning of '96, most of the valley floor was a lake. What did the brilliant minds of CA do? Built a shit-ton more houses DIRECTLY IN THE FLOOD PLAINS not even 10 years later.

BUMPASES!!!

Just like they are still building up around Mt. Ranier.
Not too smart. If that mountain goes off, those people are screwed

Glad to hear you are feeling better. COVID hits folks so differently. My old boss is healthy and in his 40’s and COVID hit him HARD. 3 trips to ICU…had to take a couple of weeks off a few times and worked part time for about 2 months. On the other hand, one of my apartment mates tested positive and had no symptoms at all. I hope you continue to get better. Continue to take good care of yourself…you deserve it.

LOL, that seems to DEFEAT the purpose OF writing your own research paper. You know, the whole researching, and the writing parts at least.

The worst side is the maths and statistics side: They’ll just send you meaningless figures. But they can get away with it.

YES! That’s what we stuffed her “paper bath” with lol. She loves it! When we take it out to replace it, she will lay on it, on the floor until we get the new stuff sorted out in her box.

I made some beef and veggie stew last weekend. Hope yours will be tasty and satisfying. Mine sure was. :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m so glad!

I love soup/stew when it gets chilly and blustery. It’s like a warm hug, from the inside :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: everyone in the house usually devours it, too. So, win-win :joy:

I find myself making more winter chili than anything else. Def. warms you from the inside, and sticks to your ribs, and keeps you going.

The hubs is the chili guru, in my house.
I’m the soup/stew/‘n’ dumplings chef.

Me too! A good Shepard’s Pie works on a Winter’s day as well.
