@muth pralines tasted very dark and earthy to me, and could easily be overused. Smoky said to try this one, and sub in pralines for pistachio.
Thank you, SD.
My first try of Pralines in a mix at 0.75% was perfect for the mix and my palette. It was supposed to be praline forward and didn’t produce the “mushroom off notes” that some have complained of. It was when I mistakenly over poured to 1% that I got it.
I can’t tell by reading the mix above what it’s supposed to be. What does it taste like, please?
When I get some time (LOL), I will start solo’ing my FLV’s. Right now, you know who’s in the know for FLV.
Yes, I do, but I’ve had difficulty tasting some of the flavors at super low pct like she can. I know we’re sympatico on Popcorn because she said she’s used it as high as 1.00% and for me that’s perfect.
Fair enough, same here. Her taster/sniffer is fine tuned. Despite any differences in our strength tolerances, she’s got the profiles down pat.
One point that she always drives home is start low, and move up. A lot of people still overflavor with FLV, and other ultra concentrates. I’m learning how to back down for them.
Yes and sometimes that can be harder than it sounds. I know, for me, if I find a flavor that really works for me I tend to want more, lol.
Been there, done that. I’m struggling to remember the FIRST flavor that I really over did, and it went SIDEWAYS on me. Regardless of the flavor, I too thought, “Mo is better” hehe. I mean look, ultra concentrates like FLV and MF are obvious, right ? What about the less concentrated flavors ?? I still see many of them used way too high. BUT, that’s for me, AND, everyone’s tastes are different. There can be exceptions depending on what OTHER flavors the target (overused flavor) is mixed with. Take my “Classic Smores” for example. 6% TPA Marshmallow ?? !!! Average mixing rate is 2.1%.
In that mix, it worked good, and wasn’t overflavored. I have since changed that particular flavor into two marshmallows at lower rates, BUT, when I re-mix the original, hehe, it just works.
So what’s the take away @muth ?? Anyone, everyone can over flavor, BUT, at the END of the day, if it taste good to you, then that’s IT, Game Over, End of Story. If you (like FLV Pralines) find one going sideways, you should always try to cut it down (like you stated) before condemning the flavor.
Maybe mine was TPA Maraschino Cherry maybe ?? !!!

i have that, tried it once, didn’t go well. there is/was a juice i was trying to clone when i first started DIY. Transistor Respek.
Are you ready for some B-Ball!
Buh, buh, buh BEEBALL !!!
Speaking of that, I need a Maraschino cherry for a cocktail vape. Since you seem to have a history with it, what’s the verdict? Okay if you don’t over do it?
Thanks for the pep talk, SD. As always, I appreciate your help.
Well, I never went back and deep dove on it, but lowering it considerably DID cut the soapy-ness of it. Lately I am smitten with FW Cherry Crush, and INW Cherries.
Would these be appropriate for a cocktail cherry?
I’m looking on BCF and FW Cherry Crush is described by many to be part maraschino, part black cherry. Sounds good. The FW Maraschino Cherry has complaints about floating to the top. Uh oh, sound familiar?
INW Cherries might not be AS friendly to cocktails, as it is fuller and darker, but maybe as a mixer for that. The CC is brighter, and less weight-ier.
The TPA MC got good reviews only if used very sparingly. FW and TPA are cheap enough to try both, ay?
@SessionDrummer have you tested Lemon-Lime Soda (SC)(WF)?
Now you have me going down a cherry rabbit hole. I just started an idea for a Cherry Garcia recipe. I’m going way off track, lol. But I thank you for that
FW Cherry Crush is ideal for a fruity type cocktail. It’s a good dark maraschino, almost candied cherry flavor. No medicinal off notes at all, unless you go too high with it.
