Who still buys commercial juices?

Yup, I learned the hard way. There’s no getting around it, ya just gotta try it yerself. I have so much I’ll never use.

I think that’s a possibility. Sometimes I think there’s just guess work, and a recipe thrown together that sounds good. I approach it probably the hardest (and most spendy) way. I try to imagine what I’m tasting and buy flavors that could be possible matches. Once I find a flavor that smells or tastes like a match I get excited for bit. Putting them together should be the easy part but I keep dragging my feet. No matter how you slice it cloning is hard, “Re-mixes” or whatever those are called aren’t as much.

I’m not really trying to make a 711 Blue Slurpee, Blue Icee, or whatever convenience store’s blue slush drink. I’m trying to make Propaganda Blue Frost e-liquid flavor… in a long drawn out, taking way longer than expected kind of way lol. I do way more figuring in my head than actually trying the ideas I come up with.

Anything blue raspberry or similar is tough. I almost quit DIY because everything blue raspberry wasn’t very good. What others seem to like, I don’t pertaining blue raspberry flavors. I don’t think any were used in my favorite liquid. I’ve pretty much ruled them all out a long time ago.

I guess that’s a blueberry/raspberry combo? Is it a realistic fruit flavor? Someone told me to consider the year it was released and the popular flavor brands being used at the time. You might just have to settle for something similar but that you find enjoyable.

My last purchase was this past December. I made the decision to give DIY a try, did some research and found this forum. As a complete newbie, I hope to be thrilled with a few of my own and won’t have to buy commercial juices. So far, of the mixes I’ve made, about half were not the greatest (thankfully only mixed 10mg of each), a few are pretty good and a couple are darned good. I expect to keep experimenting and develop a handful that tickle my palette in the best of ways and am willing to be patient. With each one I don’t like, I figure I have learned something as valuable as when I find one I like. Both are good lessons.

With this attitude, you will surely get where you want to go … My respects …
Here in the forum there is a lot of accumulated knowledge, and very experienced mixers, who can surely help you with any doubts that may arise. Hope you enjoy the mixing journey!

Thanks much. I am already enjoying the journey and appreciate the help I’ve already received…and will continue to need. My hope is to be able to learn enough, practice enough and enjoy enough so that I can encourage and support others on this DIY adventure.

I haven’t bought a commercial juice in years however, sometimes I get a little goodie when I buy from my local store, most of those I passed on to friends as they are all crap.

Favourite flavour of all time…

vapetasia-killer-kustard-vapetasia

Only commercial liquid I consistently give a shit about and the only one I can ADV without it getting too much, too fruity, too sweet or too otherwise blugh.

Not because it’s so awesomely tasty, but because so plain I don’t have to pay attention to the taste and even get to the point of not noticing it at all - same way I didn’t notice the taste of cigarette smoke when I did that.

I still add it to most orders - long as it’s a site that sells nicotine and not just 0% crap…

I love Killer Kustard too, got a few bottles each of the plain, lemon, strawberry & honeydew custard flavors for $3 per 120ml bottle recently! I’m currently vaping on the strawberry kustard. Trying to use up the rest of my commercial juices before I switch over 100% to DIY.

I dunno what it is about it…

It’s not REALLY plain, there’s heaps of mouthfeel and flavour…

It’s just not in your face annoyingly OVER-flavoured maybe? I dunno…

$3!! Wish I’d known about THAT sale…

I agree it’s pretty delicious, not too sweet or over flavored tasting like a lot of stuff. Like a good bowl of vanilla ice cream kinda!

I can’t remember which US site was holding the sale but it was right after the US PMTA BS legislation was put into effect Sept 9th. Vapetasia was changing all of their packaging to remove all imagery, so some sites clearanced out old stock. Idk if the packaging change was due to comply with the stricter US PMTA rules or so they could sell their products in Canada & elsewhere (Canada doesn’t allow any cartoons or character imagery on their tobacco products).

It’s just THICK, and vaguely creamy but doesn’t take over your mouth like so many juice flavours do, yet it also never tastes lacking or under-flavoured… weird how hard it is to put a finger on what makes it so good

I’ve tried other custards too but KC just somehow tastes better.

I’m sure there ARE other custards I would think are better - somewhere - but finding those among the thousands of custard recipes online is a bit of a fools game, when none of them will taste quite like Vapetasia’s version and trying 50 custards that don’t quite cut it is a lot of time and effort for nada.

I’ll have to try killer kustard i love McDonalds custard pie. I’ve just been vaping diy for awhile now love sub ohm salt but I digress ghost berry steamjunk raspberry and blue berry with hint of something else is my favorite.
Edit: its gone the house of vapor steamjunk looks like I’m going to have to order cactus flavor to try if I want ghost berry.
any other exotics I should add to collection? I got dragon passion honeysuckle and acai

^ that… tell us what it is that makes it such a kickarse custard when it tastes so simple, though personally I think that is why it’s so good: you get the super thick mouthfeel, the lung hit (@6mg anyway), and the richness of a flavour that’s only vaguely vanilla, vaguely custard and vaguely creamy but still single full of taste…

Makes a great ADV because it’s not screaming for attention from your taste buds and yeah.

Definitely try it - especially if it’s on sale.

Plain one is the only I’ve tried because I loved that enough the first time I ordered it to not want to risk ordering the lemon/strawberry/etcetera and have those turn out not as good, though everybody who loves Killer Custard seem to leave the same good reviews for the other ones :smirk:

Somehow I messed this post. I’ve heard that too. I bought just about every raspberry flavor out there and none smelled or tasted like my beloved Blue Frost e-liquid. One day on BCF, I saw they had a version 2 of Capella Raspberry. The V1 had no taste at all. I doubted it but still ordered it. When I smelled it, I flipped out! I’ve smelled that flavor probably dozens of times prior in Blue Frost.

I tried it out and nothing I ever did with it was good. It’s probably a complimentary flavor. It doesn’t have much body so there’s a different base flavor which I suspect is Capella’s Pink Lemonade. It took me months to figure out that what I was tasting could be citrus. I tried Capella’s Lemons, limes, and Lemon/Lime. None were familiar. I got Pink Lemonade, tasted it, and boom. That’s another one.

Now I need something to soften those two flavors up and blend them together. I’m familiar with all the techniques this entails. I’ve just been dragging my feet at putting the tools to use. I think my wire hobby, time-wise is taking away from my mixing and creating. I’ll get to it soon though. My 20 or so bottles of Blue Frost aren’t going to last forever.

I’m not a raspberry person but I know of some really good ones. Raspberry Syrup (SSA) and Raspberry (MF). BCF has the SSA and River Supply has the MF on sale, about half price. Expensive but worth it if you want a great Raspberry. Or blueberry. VSO has a nice blueberry.

Good deal!

Only gotta cut it down by 6% for 6mg: that’ll not affect the flavour noticeably at all :+1:

I’m probably start at 3mg cause I’m probably going to chain vape it (I have had no creams or custard flavors been vaping sodas, chocolate ,marshmallow, cheese cake, black honey and Fruits since I started mixing)
