Why do all my recipes have max three percent flavor and still too strong and seems like most people use twenty percent

I’m finding even after only putting two to three percent flavor I’m still having to cut the batch in half with nic base. Do I just have the bad ass flavor or is it just me.

Hi Ggrhauling well there’s a couple things I’m curious of what flavors are you using , what’s your % in the base as well as what mg of nic. Are you new to vaping and what are you vaping on ?

Depends on the flavouring. Companies like Inawera and Flavour Art tend to make ultra-concentrated flavouring, some of them like INA Banana Concentrate even need 1:10 PG dilution before usage. American companies like Capella tend to produce less concentrated flavourings, some of them can be added as much as 40%.

Amy2 my preferred mix is max VG. Most of my flavor is TFA or CAP trying to stay away from LA since so many from this company are dark.
Everything is purchased from Wiz Labs, my flavor ratio would be pecan 2%, and sweet cream 1% in a 50ml batch. I tend to use 10-15% PGA or Vodka (100 proof).
My nicotine is nine and been vaping since 1/1/15.
My preferred sub tanks Atlantis 2 (3ohm) but same basic taste in Melo, Lemo 2, Artic or my Rda. To many to name them all.
Have six or eight boxes but my most resent is the IPV4. Would loves to Vape at say 60watts but have to stay around 40 watts because flavor is so strong.
Been making my own eliquids since the beginning.
Sorry so such a long reply. But trying to understand how so many people can Vape 20% flavor.
Oh yea I never steep with heat and always let juice breath for 12 hours to 24 hours and then sit one week in cool dark place.

Sounds like everything is right on … Enjoy being one of the lucky ones I’m a 20% flavor all day long it sux I want to try all these recipes and then I have to modify Bc I cant taste them.

It may be your additive of PGA and the fact that almond is dang strong stuff. And the Atlantis is amazing in flavor providing abilities.
Did you ever smoke cigs ?

I’m with you @Amy2; however, mixing with more FA and IWA flavors these days, I am finding I can reduce the percentages in the mix quite a bit and get great flavor!

Smoked like a freaking freight train. :steam_locomotive: But I’m not doing it wrong then? I thought maybe people saved money by diluting mix before using or some other trick. Cool then…
Thanks for the info.

This does bring up anther question with my situation.

When I’m mixing such low levels of flavor it’s really hard to get a multi flavored recipes to work. Any advise on this would also be greatly appreciated.

By the way my favorite Vape all day when possible is:

Dill Pickle 2%
Super Sour 1% (WL)
Steeping two weeks. But can shake and Vape but liquid is cloudy.
I use to use .5% brown sugar but it would separate and clog coils.

Jim where do you purchase most of you supplies and flavors. I’m not familiar with FA or IWA.
Thinking of trying some new flavors. However I already have a collection of over two hundred different flavors.

Oh one more step I do that I should mention is stir juices while mixing receipe with a magnetic stir plate. Do y’all think this may be helping flavor attach to the VG better?

Hmm now you have me shopping for this ??? Is this mixing via ultra sonic vibration ? How does this process work ? I’m going to do some research on it as well. It could be the combination of it all your palate the flavors the magnetic mixer. Whatever it is I’m jelly wish I could be like that :sunglasses:

What is your model I want one !! My birthday is coming !! What setting (rpm ) do you use and heat option ???

Try eBay, Amazon cheap ones cost about $40 but I would recommend a little better model. They do have a heated plate so you can control temp so not to go over 115F, which would start to affect nic levels. I never use any heat just add PGA and flavor first slowly adding in VG and Nic. Stir until cloudy. Those who use PG would make this even easier.

By the way if you go this route make sure to get several different size magnetic stir sticks. Different size batches require different size sticks. They are cheap. I got a pack from Amazon shipped from China for like seven dollars.

Thinking about not using it next batch to see if it changes the level of taste. Wonder if it my problem.

Flavor Arts and Inawera are carried by many U.S. flavor vendors; Ecigexpress for example. Super concentrated and tasty!

I’m a DIY junkie. I went to utube and built one out of a computer fan. Simple but thru trial and error. After the fact just buy one.

thank you. Yea I won’t be building one that’s for sure ! I grab some different stirring sticks and wondering if the graduated container comes w/ or will I need to look into flasks glass. Cool I’m guna check them out

I use the glass 100ml glass graduated container, making sure it’s a flat bottom. This is important. Most bottles have a curved or raised bottom which seems to keep stir stick off center and has a throw out.
I tried to use it on my nic solution when I first got it and could never get it to stir until I put into a flat bottom.

All this talk is making me want to pull out the mixing gear and make something off the chain. But feel so limited with the dang low percentages.

I purchased mine at a local big box store for $1.50 each. (Glass)

Simple. Make 10-50% dilutions for your strong flavors. For a 10% dilution, just 10% flavor and 90% VG (or PG) - then work with that

You’ll want Erlenmeyer flasks

There are quite a few magnetic stirrers and magnetic hotplate stirrers on Ebay. I am watching several now that are under $100
