I’m running as smooth as it did when my laptop was brand new. Not even a hiccup. I installed it on my desktop a few days ago. No problems their either. I like the new features too. It took a little getting use to.
Windows 10 is a lot like Windows 7 from what I hear. I had to update my graphics driver and didn’t care for the title bar of windows being white. @daath told me a fix for the title bar if you read above. The only problem I have had is with Mozilla Firefox. The graphics will crash and I have to reboot Firefox. I’m sure they will have a fix soon enough. Whether it is better than Windows 7, is hard to say. Probably depends on your needs which you use your computer for. Basically Windows 10 is fashioned after Windows 7 Just a few added things here and there which many people wouldn’t even care about. Ability to have more than one desktop, etc. Being it’s free to upgrade now and if your intentions are to upgrade eventually, it is bug free enough to upgrade now. Your choice…
I’ve been fairly satisfied, but that was coming from windows 8.1
I take it you install from fresh? the tought of re-installing things fills me with dread
I took me a minute to figure out the tiles. Now that I have I use them often. It’s a lot similar to apps on you phone. I haven’t downloaded any apps yet. I mostly use them similar to File Explorer except everything you want is only one click away.
It’s not exactly like a fresh install. I will say you do not want to allow it to install automatically. You need to choose options during setup if you value your privacy. Microsoft is getting as bad as google now so choose to setup choosing your options, for sure…It wasn’t too painful but of course any install of operating systems does take a little time whether upgrade, or fresh install. That’s a given…
Got your back, Jim.
Been using Macs since System 7. (Still my fav OS ever).
10 yrs or so ago, I was forced to get a few Windows sleds, due to work.
I gotta give them credit, they’re still running…on Linux
Good Luck with your Crash Project!!!
iOS <> Mac OS X
iOS isn’t my OS.
I use an old flip phone! Seems to be working peachy.
A pager too?
I have the option to upgrade 2 but im wondering does it “just” upgrade? I have no experience with upgrading so im wondering if i can keep all the stuff ive got installed? or is it better to just format and reinstall?
Those who care about their privacy should not allow it to install automatically. It’s now getting harder and harder remembering specifics since I installed it over 2 months ago now. It is not a complete reinstall and actually went faster than Windows 8 to 8.1 I thought. Somewhere towards the beginning of the install you will be asked something like allowing to install automatically (possibly install with default settings) and I value my privacy greatly. I chose no to set all privacy setting and the like. Once this was done then all went fairly quickly. Probably between a hour or two max time. I expected worst but was surprised. I had to update my Graphics Card driver so keep in mind you may need to do little things such as that. Good luck !!!
ok so it just “updated” then? so all other stuff programs and such r basically unaffected? its not like it used to be when installing a new os?
All my programs and files were still there. Had a little trouble with Mozilla Firefox graphics crashing but possibly it is fixed with the last update. Has not happened in a while now. To my knowledge, nothing else is having any issues…
thx a bunch good to know
I would have given you a ️ earlier, however, I only saw your comment because I was looking through posts in your profile!
I have a metric crap ton of threads which have been purposefully “muted”, because of one reason or another , so I don’t see when someone has mentioned or agreed with me.
Peace!
Yeah I’m the same way…too much clutter especially when a thread gets turned into a thread of a thread of a thread all about the same subject
hey… I carry a pager every day… for work of course lol
I have upload my system to win 10.
And I feel it is great and excellent.
