Hazelnut and Cream (WF) 3.5% (8-25-19) – Although I’ve never been a HUGE fan of Hazelnut, I learned by watching many use FW Hazelnut. This one was pretty damned great, in a word, out of the gate. Not sure exactly how to describe a Hazel, but it had all the right top and bottom notes, and perfectly creamed and sweetened. Nothing off putting, I could see this one being used VERY frequently. Honestly, pretty damned good as a solo. Could this replace FW’s Hazel ?? Hmmmmm, not sure yet, but this one IS one of the standouts in series 2 testing. Continued vaping, is leading to more … continued vaping of this one. 10/10.
My cousin is addicted to this one, mix it for her regularly. Very nice added to coffee vapes.
Lemon Squares (WF) 3.5% (8-25-19) – Once you’ve tested a load of flavors from a manufacturer you run across a common flavor they re-use. This one had it (again), for the base or squares part of the mix. Not terrible, I’ve tasted it before, kind of a sweetish bakery element. Not a pastry, just a generic bakery-ish flavor. The lemon was present, but not very. We all know lemons fade, and also what it’s like to have too MUCH lemon, which this def. does not. It comes across as a faintly lemonish bakery, but that’s about it. I wasn’t expecting FE or MF lemon, but more than what was present, and the deal breaker for me was the generic bakery element, which to me did not portray “squares”. Leaving this @ 3/10.
Marshmallow Candy (WF) 3.5% (8-25-19) – This one actually DID taste a lot like small candy marshmallows like the kind in some cereals. It was mostly vanilla, and a little drier than you would expect from a MM, and somewhat sweet. It was seemingly relaxed (weaker) at this percentage, unsure if higher mix rates would help to strengthen/thicken it or not. Some mouthfeel, but this is not like a full on MM like FA MM, but it doesn’t claim to be. I could def. see using this to boost/make a MM cereal type recipe. The bonus is it’s not flavored other than vanilla so you could bend it depending on your need. Unsure if this would tame sharper flavors or not. As it is named, this one although weaker, is accurate. 9/10.
Marshmallow Gooey (WF) 3.5% (8-25-19) – Back to back comparison with the “candy” version revealed this to be a more traditional MM. Fuller, with more mouthfeel than the previous, although not up to where FA MM is at. Smooth, sweet, and mallow with perhaps a hint of something, wintergreen maybe ? Not sure. As far as WF’s namings I would have just called this MM, with the previous being mini’s. Sits pretty good, heading towards FA MM, just not quite there yet. 8/10.
Personally I like the lemon squares for a cheesecake crust since I have an aversion for graham flavors. The sft reminds me of chesscake and the texture is good to build on.
@Letitia you actually brought up a VERY good point in regards to flavors, AND why SF Tests are NOT the end all be all of flavor judging. I do, and have done a shit ton of SF tests (maybe too many), but I find it interesting. I have thought many times when testing, first reaction, possible increase/descrease % changes, possible taste-a-likes, possible uses, and/or base(s) for other flavor profiles, etc. It’s a LOT to keep track of. I had considered MAYBE adding some of that into SF Testing, BUT, that was just too overwhelming. Better I just simply focused on the flavor at hand, the name, and steeped results.
I’m often worried if something tastes like crap to me, if I write that, do I dissuade another mixer from even trying it ?? I hope not, and the hope is, at least there are SOME readlible notes about the flavors, as a single/solo, with somewhat (hopefully) accurate notes. After reading your post, I could see the LS being used for what you mentioned. Thank you.
One of the reasons I like the squares for cheesecake is they’re way too sweet, the sft nearly put me off too.
Peach Gummy Candy (SC) (WF) 3.5% (8-26-19) – Peach and I have a love affair, so if anyone’s going to hit the Peach, it’s me. My current go to is TPA Juicy Peach for reference. Out of the gate, this one screamed WINNER. At 3.5% it was really damned good, full, and tasty. When I read “gummy candy” I cringed as I’ve had some sub-par GC’s prior to this test. The peach was very juicy and fresh tasting, and (dare I say) fuller than Juicy Peach. Now although I didn’t get a “gummy” per se, I did get a somewhat jammy-ness, maybe even a hint of Pear in there. At first I thought similar to JF’s Honey Peach, but that was heavy on the honeydew, where as this had none, but if you’ve tried that, and remember the pairing, this is similar, but maybe two peaches, and some pear tossed in. No spices, just the way I like it, it’s not a pie filling, but sure could be used as one. CAP’s yellow peach comes to mind, but this is superior IMO. If you want a super gummy, this may not be for you, but if you want a good jammy peach with a hint o pear, you WILL want to get this one. Continued vaping on this one tells me you COULD solo this one. Maybe push it a % up for a super solo maybe. Now I would have called it Jammy Peach, so I gotta knock off a point for not much gummy, but it’s just too damned good to mark it down. 10/10 as a Jammy Peach, 9/10 as a Gummy Peach.
Oats and Cream Cookie (SC) (WF) 3.5% (8-27-19) – Choo Choo, the Oat Train is leaving the station !!! Alright, I know, what the hell… This is a GREAT flavor @ 3.5%. It may be one of the CLOSEST Oat flavors I have tried, and I’ve had some bad ones. It’s not 100%, but man is it up there, close, and a great vape, even as a solo. I have NO clue how in the hell you would try to sim oats, but WF has it pretty close. To cut to the chase, it is oaty, and creamy. Done. It is a very full creamy mix @ this % with enough sweeteness to not be overbearing. To be honest, having such BAD luck with any/all oats up until this one, beyond the obvious like Brown Sugar, I’m not sure what you would pair to boost this, but as it stands you might not have to. It has a very few subtle overtones when smelling it vs. vaping, but it translates very well. Nothing off-putting, just a very somewhat sweet, creamy oaty mix. I find it hard to really explain oatmeal in general, so we’ll cut it short, and give this one 9.5/10.
I was excited to try this one, but for me it was a flop. I wanted an oatmeal cream pie and it is just flat and lifeless to me. I am happy to see a glowing review of it, because I was pretty sure it was just me.
@anon70102222 There are soooo many variables, setup, coils, wicks, personal taste, etc. I love this, you hate that. Sorry that one flopped for you. I can’t remember the other brands I tried, but man, they really let me down hard, or just tasted terrible, so this one really sparked it for me. I could have used some MORE oatmeal (LOL), but I’ll take what I can get. Every time I break out a new SF test, I’ll actually take notes as to my INITIAL reaction (so I don’t forget after it’s taken hold), then then either write the review after a tank full (or two), and keep the initial and/or sustained notes all in.
This one I could tell I loved out of the gate. After the initial “Wow, I’m not throwing up” wore off, I continued vaping trying to get all the pieces and parts straight, and started thinking about EXACTLY what you mentioned.
I was thinking some graham crust (maybe TPA), hint of INW biscuit, some TPA Brown Sugar, and some FA Whipped Cream with (maybe) a dash of TPA Vanilla Swirl, BUT, they would have to stay low, as to not overpower the Oat.
I appreciate your feedback, and can’t wait to hear more !!!
Amen brother! I have been noticing it comes into play more so with mesh vs normal coils. I have a juice that I love in my mesh tanks but falls flat in my normal setups. The mesh just brightens up the mix and you get a better separation in individual flavors that gets lost in a standard coil tank.
Of course personal taste makes the biggest difference, we all can’t like the same thing. I have this flavor but have yet to use it, too many flavors, too little time. It is on the list though, gotta get it tested soon based on your testing.
Thanks again for all your testing, it really helps
I appreciate that @mjag. Reminds me of when I had a SHOCK moment years ago. Broke out my tried and true Honey Nut Flue Tobacco that I had been mad dripping forever, and tried it in one of my tanks, and I hated it ?? !!!
Hahaha, that recently happened to me with the same juice I mentioned. Met up with a friend to give him juice and he tried my mesh tank and said wow, what is that. Told him it was sex of the peach and he said shit, why doesn’t the one you made me taste like that. Now I gotta find him a good deal on a mesh tank, he is hooked
LOL. I tried mesh waaay back when, before it was mainstream, and it never took hold for me. Realizing mesh HAS come a long way since then, what types (if any) of flavors favor a mesh. I’m assuming fruits ??
I read EVERY review here on ELR with great focus, and am unsure if there is a clear winner in the “If you love flavor, you need to get this mesh tank” tank.
You assume right my friend, it really accentuates fruit flavors, they tend to get brighter and more nuanced, you can taste the individual flavors better.
Maybe try a Profile RDA first, the easiest to build and wick. On the Profile I prefer the OFRF SS316L mesh, on Mesh RTA’S I prefer the Vandy Vape SS 200 mesh. The VV200 is more spity than the OFRF which is why I like the OFRF more in a mesh RDA.
I saw the other day that Steam Crave still has plans for a mesh deck for the Plus, I so hope it happens.
As far as Mesh RTA’S the Profile, Doom and Kylin M are all pretty good. The Profile still has the slight edge on flavor for me but I have been using the Kylin M a lot lately, already have 2 of them and want a 3rd in SS for my Sxmini SL as mesh is great for single 21700 mods.
Roger that @mjag. That ^^^^^^ is what I had planned on waiting for before re-entering the mesher marketplace.
They have been working on it for a while and at one time abandoned it. It was a few days ago I read they are back at it and should release a mesh deck for the Plus by the end of this year. You know Steamcrave, they take there time to get things right so I am excited.
