Australia and vaping

What else would you expect,

This quote from another dumb uninformed health minister makes the crackdown seem even more ridiculous.

“Because they’re not coming in as shipping containers labelled vapes,’’

Don’t forget the kids…

“Warning it was the “biggest behavioural issue” in schools, he warned that the strongest possible action had to be taken.”

So, what will it achieve? A greater thriving black market. But you can’t argue with idiots.

Interesting and I’m sure extremely frustrating times ahead. To my way of thinking I simply can’t move past the legality of combustible tobacco and the fact it’s a well proven killer and yet vaping is the enemy.
It just completely flys in the face of common sense and I honestly would have thought that blind Freddy could see the glaringly obvious.
Every move governments make for as long as I can remember just pushes everything Vape related further underground and into the hands of the black market.
There eventually has to be a realisation that the legal sale of nicotine domestically without the stupidity of prescriptions and sensibly designed and implemented regulations is the only way forward.
I’ve absolutely no problems with plain packaging and completely agree that anyone selling to school kids should be prosecuted but don’t demonize vaping in general.
I enjoyed the SKY news report although I took exception to his comment that vaping was illegal. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve heard that and just wish these reports were completely fact based from all sides.

These figures shocked even me and again proves a point.

Think of the kids.

Dear Friend,

We always knew prescription vape laws were a cosy deal between big business and government – to shut down independent vape shops and create a monopoly on what you can buy and where.

When prescription vape laws kicked in on 1 October 2021, there was one chemist chain and one vaping company ready to go on day one – Chemist Warehouse and Nicovape.

Earlier this month we learned from the Sydney Morning Herald that Nicovape is part-owned by Chemist Warehouse and a former Health Minister, Michael Wooldridge.

You don’t need to follow the money too far to know what prescription vaping was all about.

But now, Chemist Warehouse’s Sam Gance has a problem.

Gance’s $43 million property can’t fit all his high-end furniture. And he’s having a garage sale.

Gance is auctioning off art, furniture, chandeliers and even a billiards table – to squeeze into his new $43 million Toorak mansion.

And while Gance and his wife say they’re “crying” for the loss of their surplus furniture, we think they should hold the tears until prescription vape laws are repealed here in Australia.

Legalise Vaping Australia will continue fighting these bad laws.

We fight for your rights and the rights of small business owners across the country who are struggling to keep their doors open.

And to Gance and Chemist Warehouse, no one’s crying for you.

Yours sincerely,

Brian Marlow

Last summer my younger sister visited us in Canada. She lives in Cronulla with her 2 sons. They really young, maybe 10 and 13 and were watching me vape. The older one said it was very common in his grade and some in the younger ones grade vaped also. I asked if they were getting them from older siblings and he told me no. They’d pick them up off the ground around garbage bins, or even go right into some sort of semi locked garbage cans.

Funny that only now, when it can help them profit, do they proclaim vaping as a legitimate smoking cessation method. Hypocrites the lot of them!

Yes last week they where crying each pharmacy would lose $170 K a year . Stock up so we can give these assholes the finger

How come a pharmacist can claim smoking cessation products but a vape store can’t for fear of prosecution?

Absolute joke.
Money is the great leader here and not health.

and there lays the issue, Vape Shop DO NOT help the issue by selling DRY HERB products and devices. They blurred the lines also in the pursuit for $$$ in Australia.

Hey @Jetz, will this crap affect you guys at all since your products include vaping in the usage sections? I know the new changes still have to go through Parliament, but we all have a good idea on how that is going to go…

We are a flavour concentrate manufacturer, and the e liquid part of the business is only 1%. Flavours are in everything you use and consume everyday. From dishwashing liquid, shampoo, biscuits, drink, beverages, vodkas, beers, wine and everything else in between

Take our Flavour Shots, they are used in the distilling industry for vodkas, syrups for yoghurts, Snow Cones, Slushy mixed, Mocktails and even candle making and lip balms.

So when it come to who purchases flavour concentrates, we have no idea where they are being used and what for. Take the flavour concentrates from other flavour houses, they are the same and why most of them have DAAP, benzyl alcohol etc in them as they are safe to ingest or consume not atomise.

We had seen the writing on the wall so to speak and the heavy regulation that was to come, hence we made a discussion to change our flavour concentrate formulation to contain NO DAAP.
With the likes of the major retails now DEMANDING that no palm oils are used in any products or their derivatives. The same will happen with DAAP etc.
Most, 99% of e liquid is made with palm oil derived VG as it cheap and much cheaper than rapeseed or soya bean derived VG. But major distributor and e liquid manufacturers still use the cheaper option as it is a bit of a money grab over ethics, I guess.

To answer your question, NO not really as we can not stop who purchases flavour concentrates as they are used in everything and everywhere. Even the likes of BAT use flavour concentrates to make the cigarettes have different profile tobacco flavours.

Ill say this what all governments should do is ban disposables outright. Thats what the kids are getting. Kids use them because they are easy to get. My daughters 10 year old friend vapes and she got my daughter to try it. I was pissed. The fact is its not vaping thats the problem its the ease of access of these kids getting and buying disposables. Ban disposables and the problem will drop by 90%. Kids wont be spending money on eliquids and devices to use them. Cause they wont have it.

Smart proactive move(s).

That’s interesting, as I only use Palm Based VG over Soy. Have never used Rapeseed.

I’m still a little confused over the true severity of the news Australian vapers received this week but I find this bloke to be very informative and often watch and trust his reviews.
He speaks with a level of obvious frustration in this video but also shows extreme restraint.
I appreciate this will only affect Australian vapers but thought perhaps vapers from other countries might be interested to hear about the shit show we’re about to enter.

And Bogans explanation with a few more expletives but still explaining what seems to be our immediate future well.

Watch @ Hunky Vape also.

The new rules means basically that you will need to DIY if you want flavour, our understanding that was from internal that you will be able to purchase liquid nicotine unflavoured so you can use this to diy

Though they are looking at 24 or 30mg /ml as the max strength

The only place to purchase them will be at the pharmacy with a prescription and from our information the prescription is a ONE OFF and only lasts a year. After that you options are quit or go back to the cigarettes or patches etc.

What does these mean, if they introduce these new laws with the budget next week, then NO MORE vape shops. They have nothing to sell as it will be illegal.

Our advice is to stock up on liquid nicotine 100mg/ml and freeze it, so you have enough for a couple of years. Mix your own.

That’s what I did (and then some), and I am in the US. Very agreed @Jetz.

Good for the DIY team, not sure about brick and mortar vapers though.

I don’t want to inflame the situation, but I’m not 100% up to speed on the “prescription” process, difficulty, etc. Does anyone know what exactly is involved, how long the script lasts (Darren said 1 year ??), how hard it is to get one, etc. ??
