I wish we could drag our old friend @woftam back here for this, as he is as “hooked in” to what’s going on in Australia than anyone I know.
They will go as they will not legally be able to sell, flavours of any type. A bit like the Californian flavour ban
https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CCDPHP/DCDIC/CTCB/Pages/CAFlavorTobaccoLaw.aspx#:~:text=On%20November%208%2C%202022%2C%20California,information%20on%20the%20election%20results.
The prescription model they brought in Australia , was flawed from the start. Half of all the Vape shops sales went to offshore companies like NZ who would send nic flavoured e liquids WITHOUT a prescription.
So people basically did not bother getting one.
Then the UBER drivers, the likes of the The TOBACCO STATION started selling disposables under the counter. No policing, no enforcement they could have easily wiped the problem out
Plus on top of that ONE 7, yes SEVEN doctors could prescribe liquid nicotine in Australia.
Like I said flawed from the start and we all know that vaping is the NUBMER 1 cessation pathway that works. But the issue is it was not TAXED nor was it developed by BIG PHAM. So at the end of the day it about getting it back in line to be TAXED and BIG PHAM controlled. After all that is where they get their political donations from.
My suggestion is stock up on legally imported liquid nic as you can private import at the moment. Learn how to make flavours, or simply use companies that provide a recipe that covers various industries.
In a nutshell the vaping industry is gone unless we can turn this around in the next 7 days
All vape shops in Australia will be gone, all juice manufacturing will be gone all hardware (including coils) will be a prohibited import they have banned what they call recreational vaping (0 nic, open systems etc) the only vape equipment that will be available is from a pharmacy with a prescription. There is only one pharmacy in Australia that sells vape equipment (Chemist Warehouse) and they only stock pod systems.
They have just murdered about 500 + small businesses and destroyed the income of 1000’s of people.
As an aside, if you are a tourist guess what, your vape gear could be seized upon entry.
So unlike a politician to look after his mates
@Gazza7 posted a video above from Legion Vapes, Steve and I will be talking about this ban with the crew from Proper Coils Show on Saturday morning Au time - tune in and hopefully we can maybe answer a few questions you may have and give some advice please bear in mind the details are still pretty sketchy for everyone so we will not have all the answers yet.
I plucked this from the article if it needs new legislation that will slow it down a bit but I have heard different stories.
How long before the new restrictions kick in?
No timeline was given, but new legislation is required and it is likely to take several months before the new rules apply.
I’m surprised I’ve not seen mention of the upcoming laws on many Australian vape sites.
To date I’ve only seen this on Vapr.
Yeah, I got my SX Mini from them as they have always been good to me so still wanted to support them just in case.
And this crap at a Brisbane barber shop
At Melbourne airport last week out of 20-30 people outside smoking aka vaping.
4 where smoking cigarette. The read not one had a mod. They where all disposables
Now that’s the real issue. Police the laws already in place
But the issue even caught the fine is a whole $1200. Make that $250,000 and you will find they will disappear. Only have to catch on or two and make it very public
Would solve the whole … ohh kids are using them
You never see them using a mod ? Dtl, mtl
Mixology is selling a nicotine alternative called Stym got an email from them
One of the most prolific vape shops called Vape Square here in South Australia has announced a closing down sale. They are part of the Smoke Mart group which is a tobacco retailer. No real info on why they are closing, but since the main company is large and has seemed to have been favoured by the South Australian state government when the last lot of laws went through, it may be a sign of things to come across the industry.
I ordered from them. Never used golisi batteries before but for $ 10 a pair for 18650 and $20 for 21700 a pair also 4 bay and 6 bay chargers $15 each
I have 3 Golisi 21700’s that I use in my Dovpo Odin 100. Not too bad and last well.
I reckon so, so sad! There’s gonna be lots of sales for Aussies to stock up on. I’m sure I’m not the only one stocking up to the hilt.
There must be a shitload of devices and nicotine in the country already and probably container loads of disposables.
They might need a buy back program like the guns in the 90s not that I’d part with mine nor would they offer.
Well they should do that for the vape retailers that will be shut down at least.
Get ready for the horror stories that’ll be plastered everywhere in regards to children being sold ‘vapes’ laced with all sorts of poisons.
I hope not but do suspect some are going to become seriously ill or worse.
It won’t be the government’s fault of course.
There’s some evil bastards out there who will do or sell anything for a buck.
There’s already something called monkey dust the kids will just move on to that then something else then something else again, in my thoughts aren’t ya better off with the devil you know
Someone in a thread somewhere asked about Vape Train Australia (I can’t remember where & can’t find it )
Their site is under maintenance.
I believe that they are preparing for Vapegeddon here in Aus, possibly just a name change but I cannot find any confirmation at this stage.
Last time I looked on there website they didn’t have many options under 500 ml and 1 ltr for concentrates
Me too and that ain’t happening.
Therefore I believe I’m waving goodbye to VT and hoping Flavrz come up trumps.
I’m unsure if we’d be able to buy concentrates from overseas when the shit hits the fan here in Australia. I suppose we won’t truly know what’s in the pipeline until it properly hits but I’m guessing as long as the word vape isn’t mentioned they’re food flavourings?
I don’t know if a tobacco concentrate can be considered a food or drink flavouring though. I certainly wouldn’t have wanted to drink a fag butt cocktail or snow cone.
It is a little more than that - you will have to prove that your flavour concentrates are supplied else where, for the last 14 years ours have been and still continue to do so. Though we can still supply our clients overseas including NZ in the e liquid industry. This is one reason that Flavor Revolution is NO LONGER supplying ANY E LIQUID manufacturers WORLDWIDE due to the change in legislation in the Netherlands where they are based.
