I have ASL LUPUS, was diagnosed 17 years ago, I went through pure hell to find a doctor to give me a correct diagnosis. He started me on Hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil) and AzaTHIOprine (Imuran). It took about 6 months before I started to even feel better and slowed the Flare ups considerably. After about 1 year of taking the medication I was back to work and close to 75% normal (I will never be normal, but). It has effected my eyesight, but that’s just using drugstore reading glasses. So I hope Hydroxychloroquine does help with most people with Coronavirus, but I have found no clinical trials that endorse that, other than the French trials.

Im Washington State there has been apprx 10pct of.people tested have corona , which means if everyine was tested and those numbers hold up 700,000 people in Wa State would ve infected if everyone was tested…Today I had to go to Safeway and nine of their employees had gloves . I watches as cashiers ha dled everyone’s stuff and people serving food also had no gloves. I asked the manager why not ? Tbeybread me a letter from corporate that said gloves were not needed bc the virus isnt passed from skin to skin contact. I said BUT if one person has it and sneezed on something then the employee touched what was sneezed on tbey potential can get the virus and then the circle continues round and round we will go. She looked at me as if I was crazy… These are the reasons govts are putting entire states on lock down

The members of the American tour group tested positive overnight, with a further four members of the 18-strong party awaiting test results.
They will remain in self-isolation at their accommodation.
“Then we have a tour group from the US … a male in his 50s, a male in his 60s and a female in her 70s, and the details of the rest of the people from the tour group are still being finalised,” Dr Spurrier said.

Would you say they (probably) are likely fortunate to receive Aussie (rather than US) health-care ?

I cannot say as I have no experience with your healthcare system or our healthcare system in the current environment.

I have found it difficult to find any other information as to “treatment” other than what I’m posting below.

I think we’re all in the same boat…

"These tests should be used for patients who really are at high risk of having the coronavirus and for clearing patients who have had the coronavirus and need to have two clear tests before they can be let out into the community."

From this article:

“There is a global shortage of the test kits that pathologists use to diagnose COVID-19. This is why we are doing targeted testing instead of widespread testing.

After testing

It may take a few days for the test results to come back.

If you have serious symptoms you will be kept in hospital and isolated from other patients to prevent the virus spreading.

If your doctor says you are well enough to go home while you wait for your test results, you should:

What I can say regarding our Healthcare system is that it is very good in emergency situations.
The treatment that you receive from the Hospital/Doctors/Nurses is the same regardless of whether you are a Medicare or Private Health Insurance patient.

Having been treated as both Public and Private the biggest difference is the time you wait for Elective Surgery (almost no-wait for Private versus can wait for years Public), the aesthetic of the hospital (Private is a nicer environment), the food (Private has nicer food).

I’ve been considering the possibility of the virus mutating so frequently, and if it is indeed a lasting pandemic then those mutations could be our saving grace…viruses seem to mutate towards being less harmful to their hosts because a dead host is a dead virus, I’m in school for clinical laboratory sciences and we have been learning about things like this recently, the best example being HIV.

Getting HIV in the 90’s was a death sentence for most people without magic in their name, I even had a distant relative that got it in the mid 90’s from drug use, she died in 2011iirc. Our treatments for HIV have gotten better since the 90’s but the virus itself has mutated into a far less harmful version, to the point where people can have extremely normal lives with drugs that were available back when it was still killing people frequently.

All of this is too new to really know enough to guess at a future, and if we could trust the information coming from China we might all be able to get ahead quicker, but I simply don’t trust their reports due to their past history of covering things up and manipulating numbers, that goes from their medical system all the way down to shipping goods, How many of us have received packages from China with a ribbon or a balloon in it? I have a couple times, and it’s just a scam to boost their numbers for some reason lol. I hope that the end result of this politically is that people realize we live in a global community now and we need to focus more on helping each other instead of the constant dick measuring that is most all of our current systems, and I hope that at the local level we all realize we have lost our sense of community and we need to get it back, people in a small town of 10,000 like mine are hoarding goods and screwing over their fellow man instead of doing our best to take care of each other.

None of our current systems work outside the bubble we have created, and in reality no government outside of South Korea has handled this very well, I guess Puerto Rico has done ok but they are an island so it’s a little easier for them.

Too long, ramble over lol

This isn’t Star Trek, Earth vs. Universe, my man. We haven’t quite gotten to a One World place just yet.

Let’s throttle those ambitions back a bit and just say let’s hope that all the disparate countries in the world are working together to fight this pandemic by sharing information and supplies as is practical. Which, based on which reports you want to believe, is happening.

I detest those things happening, but that particularly will never change. There will always be a certain percentage of people that will disproportionately gather their roots and berries at the expense of others. I’m sure it’s happening to some degree in my small part of the world, but supplies have mostly kept up with demand in most cases.

This is all so simple. If you don’t want to die from Covid19, vape e vitamin acetate. Sheesh.

I don’t expect us to like each other or all be on the same page working for the same goals, but it would be ideal if the next time a global threat rolls around we could all act like we live on the same planet. I dislike communism and authoritarian regimes, but if a functional and safe vaccine happened to come out of North Korea tomorrow I think we would all want it… and if China had been forthright about what was happening and willing to let other people see the extent of it then maybe it wouldn’t be as bad everywhere else, and other countries could have sent their best and brightest to help them get it under control more efficiently. That doesn’t seem too unreasonable, does it?

What happens if we discover a planet killing asteroid headed towards earth? If we handle it separately like we did this virus then we won’t survive…our world systems are built around a bubble where we are the only thing trying to kill each other, and it’s only worked for the last 100 years, not even a blink of time compared to the planet itself…

I do agree, @Fishaddict420 and I think the back and forth bickering and bashing does not help anyone at all.
