Excellent. I’m sure I don’t thank you often enough. I also know enough about you to know you want a high level of integrity to be associated with your site. Daunting task, but your efforts are always noticed and appreciated. So thank you.
But talk is cheap! So I just sent you some cash Merry Ho Ho Bro!
Ah bullshit. I should be doing that more often. The value I (and I’m sure many, many others) place on what you’ve provided can’t really be expressed in dollars. Nuff said. Party on Garth.
i’m right there with you, brother…after a day of admiring his updates to the site, i shot another donation his way…and have made a mental commitment to do this more often (the donation, not the admiring, lol)… @daath, you’re like our very own Jim Jones, our very own David Koresh or Charles Manson…
you’re the founding father of this community that we all cant wait to get back to when our personal lives call for us…work, family, chores, bills…they all call for us and we HAVE to answer, but as soon as that call has been answered, sometimes in the most minimal fashion, we come back to the “home” of our choice, ELR…
i have never been a member of a forum, for many reasons, probably mostly because i am a very private person who doesnt much care for human interaction, but this forum has changed things for me/in me/about me…
thanks @daath, i/we really appreciate you and owe you so very much respect, kindness, love and so much more…
I haven’t shared any recipes I don’t think are at least a 4 star. I am easily impressed because I like just about anything. But I have a dozen or so recipes that are probably 2 star that I haven’t shared yet. I don’t give up on an idea I have though. I reformulate and fix what I think is wrong. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. But I get more ideas from the recipes that don’t work than those that do. I admire your honesty in rating your own recipes. And because of that I am betting I really need to try those 5 star recipes of yours
I hear ya! I do the same thing. Thats why the PB Banana Cookie is on version 6 now. Honestly though, the first one is still the best I think. v4 was okay…2, 3, and 5 were not good. LoL. I guess the saying “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” holds true with mixes, too. Most of my recipes are private at this point. I publish 3, 4, and 5 star recipes. I doubt anyone tries the 3 or 4 star ones, but I put them out there in the hopes that they will give other people ideas and maybe others can improve them in ways I never would have thought of. The only problem is people rarely leave constructive feedback. Oh well.
Well hell, in that case let’s see V1! I love me some PB and B!
I joined another forum recently for the sole purpose of thanking a member there. OMG what a bunch of jackholes. People looking down their noses at anyone who doesn’t own a $200 mod or $150 atty, elitist, narcissistic fksticks. Just like on our “former” hangout where they had a thread devoted to the Provari. Those kinds of I’m better than you because I own one shenanigans. Yeah I’m so glad it isn’t that way here.
You are welcome. When I went back to rate it and saw it wasn’t 5 stars I assumed you were just being modest and gave it 4 stars or something. I hate jerks like that.
IMO if you rate under 5 stars you should be required to leave a comment. And if your comment is not substantive - immediate deletion. Otherwise punks just get to go around downgrading recipes out of childish spite and not contributing one iota to the community.
I may differ in opinion from others here, but I do respect yours. I personally don’t read all that much into the ratings system. It’s not like there’s a prize at the end for anyone. By placing a lot of restrictions it can become unwelcoming for newcomers. Part of what I hate about Reddit DIY is the up vote down vote thing and how emotional people get over it. Don’t get me wrong, I hate downrating schmucks too.
To me the ratings help me sort things, but I’m not overly attached to what people say. I appreciate and respect the comments a lot more. Just my two cents. Full disclosure: I say that without having a single published recipe, but I really think it’s just how I’m wired.
P.S. Apologies @LordVapor I hit the wrong reply button.
