I always hesitate to use fa vanilla cookie as it tends to mute things. I wish it didnt cuz i like it. Jf cookie is a good choice.

I think a vanilla extract or madigascar type is a must because all these types of processed shortbread cookies all have vanilla extract in them

This recipe i have is the perfect cookie profile. If i could just tweak it with some caramel and ice cream it would be awesome. It already has a somewhat ice cream taste

Looks interesting! BTW, can’t stop making more of your snickerdoodle recipe, its awesome!! Hehe.

One thing im noticing. These shortbread cookie flavors are not meshing well with ice cream flavors. I tried a few versions with jf cookie, ssa shirtbread and a few others and each time they get muted bt the ice cream. Maybe they just need a lot of steeping but it may work better if we build a ice cream instead of using a ice cream flavor. Something like a milk, sweet cream and another heavy body cream.

I’ve been playing around with ideas- Nomz brownie is a blonde brownie…chewy dense cookie. On a Sft I might have gotten some Cocoa notes, but this was mainly a vanilla dense chewy cookie. 1% maybe with another cookie, or INW biscuit for the cookie…if I have time I might throw together my idea later.

Brownie SC Nomz 2%

I didn’t get much chocolate from this, maybe some cocoa, but I mainly got a blonde brownie. Dense brownie style cake with brown sugar/caramel-ish notes swirled about. I got a hint of walnut, that worked well. Not too sweet, but very dense, with hints of vanilla, but definitely not a vanilla cake. A blonde brownie. I did get notes of light cocoa, but not enough to call it a chocolate brownie. I like it! Could go 3% in a recipe or as low as 1% accent.

edit- I just saw the video above, it’s caramel ice cream…redoing my idea lol*

problem with a lot of creams, even ice creams like ssa icv, is they act as kind of an emulsifier, as in making everything kinda blend together, they are ok for the first week or so but after a decent steep they make it hard to find the separation in a recipe, with bright fruits etc this is easy to combat, but with caramels etc it is harder to do. Adding a touch of tfa meringue & inw biscuit(0.5% each) can help form a bit of separation with creams, i wonder if it would also work with an ice cream?

I would imagine there are creams/ice creams that would work well with caramels & not blend? but off the top of my head i cant think of one? But i think you are right that you may be better off building the ice cream.

Try the old Vienna Cream , Fresh Cream FA IC base

Just something I threw together with my friends stash. It’s ok as a snv but as the creams develop it should get richer. I put an explanation of the flavors used in the recipe notes.

That look good @McDuckie. I have a gut feeling after all this is done, we will have created one of the best Ice Cream Sandwich recipes around. :muscle::muscle:

Many fantastic IC (sandwich) recipes! This was a great idea (team work) where we can learn a lot and you chose a perfect profile too! :ok_hand:

This one really hits the mark. I was thinking and my golden shower recipe is the perfect caramel and when steeps and nice ice cream note comes out so i designed this one based off that recipe. So far its great and pretty authentic tasting. Should only get better with steeping. For those that dont know dont get scared off by the fj ry4. Its not a tobacco ry4.its almost entirely caramel with hint of vanilla unlike other tobacco ry4s.its a bright caramel candy which works perfect

@Lynda_Marie great call on that one, and to my tastes as well, it was about 99% a Blondie.

Love you guys but i get a chocolate brownie from that one. Konda like the crispy light chocolate layer on top of the brownie.I think sam was saying the same. One of those flavors i guess where everyone gets something different

Yeah, best I got was maybe, a very light cocoa, but only just …

Brownie (SC) (Nomz) 1.5% (2-29-24) – Alright, something was going on with this one, and it took me a bit to finally figure it out. I smelled chocolate in the bottle, but I wasn’t really tasting it in the tester. Maybe light, to VERY light, but hehe, I know what this is. It’s a BLONDIE, not a BROWNIE !!! Now I only know this because I’m not a real choco-head, and actually almost prefer Blondies. Very light cocoa/choco taste, which was almost completely overshadowed by a pretty decent bakery base, that did resemble a blonde brownie. At 1.5% it was a little underpowered, and felt llike maybe a bit higher for solo’ing would be better, and at about mid-level sweet. I didn’t get an overwhelming taste of brown sugar, which is very indicitive of a blondie, but some light buttery and caramel notes. Maybe the more accurate name would be a “Blank Slate Brownie”, because you could EASILY push/pull this one directly INTO a brownie, or better, over to a full on Blondie. I did get some very convincing baking powder from the bakery, and it just sold it perfectly. Very tasty, super easy to turn into whatever you wanted, but not really a brownie. Despite the “not brownie”-ness of it, the bakery elements were so good and accurate, I think I’m going to get a bigger bottle. Knocking this one down only for the lack of the needed cocoa/chocolate to push it into a true brownie, but that’s it. Leaving this one at a 6.0/10 only for that reason. Tasty.

I had to rethink this though after my first go round in theory crafting, and since watching the video and finding out it’s shortbread and caramel ice cream…I’ll mix this tonight- so hard to get separation between creams and cookies- might decide to add a toasted almond (?)
