also I recently found out what I was doing wrong with the kendo gold. Normally I would roll a bit to make it into a wick, but not I just tear off a bit of the cotton, do not roll it except for the ends and just push em through the coils. And I kid you not, it wicks like a mother lover. Try it some time, doesnt have to be too tight. It expands even more when it is not rolled and very low chances of choking it. I’m never rolling it again after this new discovery lol
That’s the way I’ve been wicking with it too. I should have passed on that bit of info lol
Do you think that would be the same with the team vape lab stuff? I got some today and it’s just a chunk of cotton. God I’m not that good at wicking to begin with. This stuff whilst good is going to require some patience.
I have no experience with that cotton at all. What I do with Kendo and cotton bacon is to rip a bit off and very slightly separate the strands in the core, twist one end and insert it in the coil. Finding the balance between too little and too much cotton can be the tricky part. Different rta’s need different wicking also. I’m still pretty new to this as well but I’ve found that it’s very much trial and error to see what works for your needs. The more you practice the easier it’ll become. That’s probably not much help but it’s the best I can do.
intently watching youtube with people wicking the tanks i have to get a drift on how much. I thought I got the hang of my protank4 RBA. working beautifully no more dry hits. Today, major leakage. UUUGGGhhh, back to the drawing board. I think this one is also about length and placement of the wick ends.
I’ve had plenty of advice from here which is awesome, but without someone coming over and showing me exactly how much, etc it’s hard. But i really appreciate everyones help. Lots Coz I’m getting closer. Much closer.
I’ve not used a protank 4 either. A TC mod with some SS wire will help eliminate the dry hits, then you don’t have to worry too much about packing in too much cotton, you can kinda work backwards from there. Unfortunately it’s one of those things you just have to work out for yourself, irregardless of how many videos you watch or how much advice you get. The folks in here will definitely steer you in the right direction though.
Thats how I learnt too, only watching videos lol. Im an introvert kind of guy, even at vapeshops never managed to get into vape discussions , no one showed me how to wick in the first place, except for mike vapes and rip trippers lol. Take your time, soon you will be a master wicksman, everyone makes it there within a month or two anyway
I could come over and help you wick it but it would probably take me about a bazillion tries. RBAs are tricky.
The best way to learn about wicking is to get a Griffin 25. If you can wick that, you can wick damn near anything. And it’s made by Geek Vape.
Also I can recommend you a wismec theorem, easiest to wick so far, but you have to be very careful at taking that glass off, tends to break if you are careless. I recently found a flawless way to take it off though using the metal sleeve, works everytime. You can buy the pre wicked notch coils from fast tech for so cheap , you just have to cut off the end of the wicks and you are ready to prime and vape. Do your research with that theorem, one of the cleanest tasting genny style atty I ever had, too bad I like to stay in trend buying all new attys when they come out hehe.
I won a Wismec theorem form VapeSourcing about a month ago. Seems to be still in China so I will be waiting a bit.
Have you tried notch coils before mate?
Not as of yet.
Nice, you might really like the wismec theorem, good warm and clean tasting vape outta that, annoying to fill though. Just a heads up, the glass sleeve can be tricky to take off and tends to break off if you are not very careful. I have found that putting the metal sleeve to cover the whole glass, then taking the glass off is the best way to take it off and reduces the risk of breaking the glass.
Hope this prepares you for your win
Thanks a bunch man!
Of all the different cotton out there, I am most concerned with it keeping up with high voltage sub-ohming.
What would you guys say would be the fastest wicking cotton that can move liquid the fastest?
I have just used the same consistent cotton for the past year or so and haven’t changed in a while.
If you have used the same cotton for the past year i would say that any cotton wold do the trick for you
Sorry i couldn’t resist that one.
I use Kendo Gold right now but i don’t use it in tanks so i can’t say how fast it wicks in those, but i do think it is a good cotton.
Have you tried rayon?
Still doing a little research on just how safe it is, never looked into it before. I am sure it is safe, just always making sure.
Can’t fault you there.
In my TFV8 , using alien 3mm ID, 0.21ohm dual coil setup, firing at about 55-65W, using kendo gold, no dry hits so far. I dont know if that is high enough for you? If you are using really high watts, stuff that shit with more cotton
