Introducing the GC, Game Changer Homogenizer

I can’t hear my wife yelling at me from 15 feet away. :sob:

Hearing aids are a fabulous invention. They have an off button!

Lucky man…or did you just turn your hearing aids off?

Actually, I’m getting aids this Saturday. I was told I needed them in 97 but I put off for a few years. Wife gets annoyed nowadays with me. Truth be told, I’m a bit apprehensive about having them.

I can understand that I would be too. Have you heard of cochlear implants? It’s supposed to work quite well.

I have but I’m not a candidate for them. My hearing loss requires the typical model. I’m well past the point of vanity, thankfully. It’s going to be a bit of shock being able to hear things clearly again. But as already pointed out, I can turn them off.

Well, I hope that they work for you man. I think it should be nice to hear again.

I should get my hearing checked. Between standing in front of loud amps night after night for years and my mother having a hearing problem, I might be a candidate, Idk. I was told years ago that I lost a good deal of midrange frequency. That means I have trouble hearing consonants even though I still have volume. It also means difficulty hearing a TV or a phone conversation because they typically lack midrange sound.

Lol, depends on your environment. As long as you can hear music you can manage. Tell everyone else to write a note.

You will be pleased you did get hearing aids, I’ve worn them for the past 15 years and what a difference. I generally only wear them when going out, or to watch TV, the rest of the time I enjoy the peace and quiet. You have the power.
As has been noted, you can either turn them off, or just take them out

My wife is looking forward to the TV and radio not being at 11. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I am now at the stage where she sets the level of the volume on the TV and I just adjust the volume of my hearing aids. I have them linked via bluetooth to my iPhone which is very handy.

Lol… Hands up who googled “Hielscher + price”

They are amazing devices now. You can link to all kinds of entertainment e.g. TV or phone. They have external mics you can place in a room and link to. I have an app on my phone where I can control mode, number of microphones used, volume, eq, balance, yada yada. No more batteries. It has a charging pod with a lipo in it that provides multiple charges. If I have it linked to my phone I have a small clip on unit that has a mic and an answer/call switch so I don’t even have to pull my phone out of my pocket.

That is super cool man. It makes me think about AI (artificial intelligence) and being a science fiction fan, I can see myself getting " the surgery " to have an interface implanted and be able to remember everything, and of course, there would be files to open and close so that your brain doesn’t overheat.
Imagine being able to “zoom” in and out with your eyes. You could have the vision of an “eagle”. Same with your ears. I never thought of putting a device in another area and being able to hear what’s going on. Good idea dude. Oh, how about leaving a device in another room so that you could hear something that lies beyond the room the device is in. WHAT!? lol. I think I’ll stop now…

My audiologist was kind of pushing rechargeable vs battery. Have you tried both? What’s your opinion on them?

I like the rechargeable a lot. The case the aids drop into is a charger. Now every few days you have to put the case on a charger (USB) but each charge to the aids lasts longer than a full day. Much more convenient than batteries. I’ve got Beltones and they are impressive. The other thing that helps me a lot is my audiologist. I do mixing and mastering of audio and we really hit it off having so much in common and yet from different perspectives. Actually, I have two audiologists now. The two are good friends and the last check up I had they came out to the house to visit the studio, and they vape. We had an absolute ball. Next visit they want to do the same way, lol. I can show them on frequency graphs where I experience different aberrations and together we work it out in the programming of the aids. Like music production hearing aids use eq, compression, stereo separation, and such. Then at the end we share recipes.

That’s pretty damn cool, you’re very lucky. Last month, my proctologist asked if I wanted to get together and check out his dildo collection.
