@Kev I checked my OG manual, and it doesn’t mention any power down, or time outs. I think I used it for a week on batteries, but it did time out, and then I plugged it in, and it never powered down again. Mine stays on for hours at a time, and not only does the backlight stay lit, the scale stays powered up to.
The TARE button label self destructed over a year ago LOL. All of mine, have green lights on the transformer too. This pic is after it’s been powered up for over an hour with no load on it.
If yours is powering down with the AC transformer plugged it, either the scale is defective, or AWS made some kind of product change, which doesn’t make sense, as powering down defeats the purpose of using the transformer in the first place.
Hmmm, @Kev the red LED aside, those two issues above, are enough to return it right there. I’ve NEVER seen a low bat symbol, and we’ve already talked about the AC transformer not powering down issue too.
Definitely no complaints about how the scale was packaged, everything was in great shape when I got it but when I plugged it in I was getting that low battery symbol, I even tried another plug that I know would fit and same result, so I just outright bought a new one and will return the other this weekend.
So sorry you’re having this trouble with the scale. That totally sucks. It looks like they changed manufacturers. Look, I can see the difference in the 0.00 on the screen. Wow.
Don’t know if it’ll harm or repair, but if it’s giving you more trouble than not, you could try some Quick Dry Electronics Cleaner. You can find it at any car parts store. I’ve used it in the past when wicking wasn’t my strong suit and my mods got gunked.
I don’t think it’ll help, the plug itself that came with it doesn’t go very far into the scale and the light is red.
I found 2 other plugs that fit into it as well and tried them and still had the low battery symbol, I figured maybe being plugged into a power strip could be a factor, tried them all directly into the outlet and same thing, so the scale has to be defective on the inside somewhere.
I purchased a 2nd one and same exact problems, any idea for a replacement with the same capabilities that won’t power on and actually stay on unlike this 501?
I’m not knocking on anyone who’s praised it but 2 scales within a week is a bad track record, there’s just no way 2 of them are both damaged the same exact way.
As soon as I put the adapter into the wall it was red as well, put it in the scale and still red.
Did you try the scale just using batteries and not plugged in ?
I’ve never plugged mine in, probably couldn’t find the power adapter if I had to… honestly can’t remember ever replacing the batteries either
