I know nothing on the building… but I do have tools… if I get the time I want to learn…
another vaping company they intend to put out of business… wow
If you check the Good Deals thread, I just posted a 25% sale at Eciggity. They have some of the older (good) Smoant 218w mods on sale. Those are pretty much bulletproof, as long as you mind your tanks (and make sure they don’t leak, like you should with any other).
My original Cylon (218w board) is still going strong 3+ years later. The Ranker and the other 218w they list use the same board I’m pretty sure (100% sure on the Ranker).
it ate my post edit too @Sprkslfly
I want to learn to do pwn boxes… I have tools, if I can get the time.
issue is they do have chips and anything like that will eventually die faster than just a reg mech… I know how to make sure of my own ohms… and I want something I can hit like a brick ____ house
Had an IPV8 which I loved and used exclusively daily for 4 years, last week it took a crap in power mode (says atty short and won’t fire) but it still works in TC (jewel mode) - go figure…I have no use for crappy TC though …I wish I could find a couple more with the same size profile!
I used an iPV8 for a loooooonnnnngg time too, great little mod. Perhaps if you’re handy you could disassemble it and give it a good cleaning. Possible juice coating on sensitive bits over the years.
Yeah, I kinda figured that.
Kept meaning to confirm it with you, but I’ve learned that all too often, when you lower the power, you have to increase the flavor percentages (by varying degrees of course).
Which is one of the reasons you and I have had the rare/occasional “impass”. lol
not crazy about mechs…at least they need a mosfet (for me)
Maybe… haha but you loves me so it dont matter in the end as long and you and I are both happy and you know it
however most of my mixes for the last year and a half are for pod and aio box set ups… seriously… I miss my 9 ft clouds so bad tho… <3
you can put a mosfet on it tho, @HVPGH…
Ima learn… will see if I get the time… I also have access to some really nice woods and I own a scroll saw and sander… 4 dremels and a ton of bits. I carve on my guitars I build.
Same here bud.
Putting safety “aside” for a moment (which is NO small thing), my main gripe against mechs is that they go way past my preferred temp too fast. And on top of that, I couldn’t take the 7 second pulls I do, at a reasonable temp/power.
it all depends on your ohms too… My perfered is between .4 ohms and up to .8ohms anything higher is just not for me… I dont like having to “suck thru a straw feeling” either…
I love vaping threads that are actually about vaping methodology, but we’re drifting off topic pretty far. I’m guilty here as well, obviously. Maybe a split of this mod talk into its’ own worthy thread is in order?
Don’t get me wrong, it’s a breath of fresh air (pun intended) to talk about something other than advocacy and wrongdoing, but this thread is good and should probably be kept withing bounds, agreed?
Of course. And you’re absolutely correct!
But the whole reason I wrap what I do (26/36, and 26x2/32), is so that I have the impedance low enough (typically around 0.20) that it gets to temp fast, doesn’t “overburn” (continue to disperse the heat; think heat Flux), while only using 30-40w (which extend battery life)!
There’s a lot of thought (and reasoning) that went into why I do things like I do! (Though I know most probably look at my “specs” and go “huuuh?”
It works for me!
I think @anon84779643 has a letter confused. I think she means PWM which is Pulse Width Modulated. These mods vary power not by changing the voltage applied to the coil but by the percentage of time current is available to the coil. PWM is used by both regulated and non regulated mods. The mods she is referring to are simple, build yourself mods that may utilize PWM without all of the protections a regulated mod would provide. Another type of simple mod utilized an electronic switch called a MOSFET or very fast electronic switch to limit the high current to only the batteries and the coil and let the fire switch work at a low voltage, again typically without regulation. All options are very reliable.
So now we’re about a million miles further than a “flavor” ban. The intent in congress appears to be total prohibition save the protected monopoly of lobbyist patronage. If they don’t get you by the strawberries, they will get you by the excessive nic tax, or the final nail in the coffin; banning transport of product, or any part of.
Thank you for covering this…
I’m being pulled through multiple replies AND PM’s at the moment.
Just got one… The Dovpo MVV2 is ultra light weight potentiometer based MOD. Has protections and no frills.
