There is an update from Amy on their go fund me page. Thought I had saved to paste but evidently I missed a step.

For anyone who missed it, here’s the link to grab a lovely “Team Scotty” T-shirt, and further show your support! Back graphic says “You were given this life because you are strong enough to live it.”

It looks like they could use our help with sharing on social media, guys.

Kindground and his family are truly inspirational. I cannot believe they just went through a battle with cancer with his wife, as well. Kindground, you and your family are in my prayers.

I read on GoFund me
"…A single chemo treatment will cost upwards of $20k alone. I will most likely need to endure about 15-20 of these coupled with radiation treatments at the same time… "
Then I saw that the goal was $20k and thought: heck, that’s gonna go nowhere towards all that.

So maybe there’s something i’ve misunderstood here? I’m very much hoping the financial pressure is no so dire as it looks from the above and/or this just one of a seies of $20k funding drives Can anybody enlighten me?

In any case , wishing @kindground and his beautiful family all the very best. And it’s great to see everybody rallying round like this.

I know this got replied to. But I’d just like to add that PP will take a % too, ofc, but last time I checked, . yes, it was quite a bit less than GoFundMe’s portion .

I’m not halfway convinced that GoFund Me really need to charge what they do, so i’ll be contributing my little bit by any other means.

As I understand it his health insurance covers most of the cost the GFM will hopefully pick up the slack.

You can use Paypals Friends and Family option to send money, no fees but you have to fund it via a bank account, no credit cards. Take note to never use that for purchasing from someone you don’t know, no recourse to get you money back.

The last time I contributed to a go fund me… was maybe a year ago? They did take a portion of the moola you contributed. This time for Kindground… maybe they changed something? I was able to pay the portion of taken by Go Fund Me outside the contribution. So basically it was donation amount + required fee = what I was charged. I like that a little better, as its at least clear now that the portion you allot for donation is all going to the recipient.

And @jay210 I was worried about the exact same thing. Praying they have great insurance. But either way, assuming the goal is met (please Lord let the goal be met)… they can still leave the campaign up for future donations, I think? Hoping so, anyway, as I’d like to have been able to be much more generous than I was able to this month.

jay210, woftam is correct. My health insurance is going to cover most of the costs. We still have co-pays, prescriptions, and my part of the bills to pay (20%). In the last 3 weeks I’ve had about $2000 out of pocket expenses for medications, pic line surgery, port surgery, doctor visit co-pays etc.

I’m sorry you are going through this. I’m a fellow cancer warrior, leukemia. I start chemo again on the 12th. I’ve been fighting for 10 years and this is my third round of chemo and I’m still fighting. I have no doubt you are a fighter also! You’ve got this, I know you are strong and will think of you often.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me. Cancer and chemo meds are different for everyone, but have a lot in common as far as side effects. Also a lot of things I didn’t even consider until I started. Even if you just need to vent, please feel free to contact me.

Hang in there and best wishes :purple_heart::blue_heart::orange_heart:

Have you applied for financial aid at the hospital and cancer center? It’s based of your income. If not, ask your nurse/care navigator about it and they can help find out for you.

Sorry to hear of this news. Has anyone had any luck using a strong CBD vape recipe? I know there has been many successful stories of fighting cancer with CBD oil alongside chemotherapy. Wishing you the best
