Well, another tasty version again. I know it has the same base and I’m just swapping out one flavor at 0.5% but it really does change the recipe a decent amount.
Off the shake: More “tang/brightness” on the back end compared to ALL the previous versions. A slight floral, like all the version minus the TFA DF. The FA DF seemed to hit at the beginning of the exhale and this one is there at the front but carries to the tail end, farther than the INW DF. A blanket of tropical highlighted “all kinds of shit” throughout the vape. Seconds later after the exhale, I get all the dark berry goodness mouth coating aftertaste. It really confuses me. If someone handed me this idk what the hell I would say. I don’t think I can even detect the apple. I’m a little nonplussed.
Just mixed up a few variations with varying ammounts of blackcurrants/grape etc, tried a couple with both cap + fa blackcurrants together, a couple using them alone etc, obviously using PUR dragonfruit for the time being.
Whilst im waiting for more flavours i thought id try 0.75% INW cactus in a recipe with the purilum dragonfruit just to try it & it seems to have given it more of that “bite” i mentioned earlier (cant believe i never thought to try cactus tbh).
Honestly with the base blackcurrant, grape, forest fruit & dragonfruit its really not that far off, im fairly confident we will have something we can call a “clone” or a really close remix pretty soon though, especially with this many minds involved.
Got a few slightly tweaked variations to try though now over the next week -
I’ve tried the dark fruits with (cap) “Df” and we can rule that one out. It’s a shame I haven’t got the (purilum) to try but I’m pretty sure it’s (inw) around 1%. Also mixed (tpa) “Df” up to 4%, 2 drops at a time. I’m pretty sure it’s not (tpa). Been trying both (fw) and fa) “kiwi” mixed with (inw) “Df”, tastes really nice with the (fa) but we can rule them out.
Been sitting here racking my brain to try and fit a tropical flavour that will match the original. It’s hard to describe the flavour but almost hoppy (as in beer) very slightly almost herbal, it’s right there with the"Df". Hadn’t thought of “cactus” well done. “Cactus” is very slightly pine, herb like. Will try that with the (inw) “Df” this afternoon. Will return when mixed.
So after it settled over night the Mangosteen chilled out and blended in. It’s pretty good. I’d amend this a little higher (0.7%) according to the feedback from yas. In full discloser my flavoring is pretty old compared to my other DF concentrates. Also, it’s a clear concentrate.
I think we’re about 95% the way there. I’ll add a V2. I think you may have altered the dark fruits slightly. I’m not 100% sure if it needs the “blackberry” or “jackfruit”.
I’ve included the “jf” in this one. We may need to lower “cactus” slightly and add (tpa) sweetness.
This is around abouts where im thinking it needs to be tbh? I have the forest fruits a little higher at 5%, but i do have a couple with different %'s, same with the blackcurrants (some withfa+cap together & alone).
I just need the inw dragonfruit & tfa jackfruits to try those.
Mine with just purilum DF + Cactus is pretty close so i imagine the inw will be much closer?
Ok, I’ll try a few different mixes including upping the “FF”. Full credit to you though, yourve done a lot of the work. And @NIL8URBUDZ because I really like your recipe. Can’t do with this heat ended up with a headache last night (didn’t last long though). Speak to soon.
yeah it has some things in common with piney/floral/citrusy thing going on. Its a weird one but could see it in relation. Cactus takes over everything over 0.25% for me so I think I’m out on that personally.
Thank you I’m going to read all the flavour notes about it. It’s sometimes hard to explain flavours, nearest you can do is compare it to something similar. There’s a flavour at the base of the tropical part of “black vine” that’s like that. It could be “mangosteen” I’ve never tasted it.
So, I think this is my version, Ode to the OG I never tasted… I slightly toned down the Blackberry and FA BC and retained the FF. I love the mixed berries it brings, with a good amount of BC, and it doesn’t hurt that I have a liter left after the last gallon I bought. I barely brought up the INW DF with a slightly less dark berry and middle road the Fuji at 1.1%. So, I’ll see how this tastes over a longer period than 24 hours.
First impressions trying cap blackcurrant alone i dont think its capellas BC? Not alone anyway, its hard to say if its both or just FA because you can achieve the exact same effect just using FA blackcurrant, the recipe with cap alone is bordering on “harsh”, its not actually harsh but its just on the very edge of becoming harsh & the blackcurrants not prominent enough, i think increasing it would bring some roughness?
FA blackcurrant just seems to fit right with or without the additional support, the recipes with FA blackcurrant alone & both blackcurrants mixed taste pretty damn close,
So at this momemt im thinking -
3.5% fa blackcurrant
1.5% cap concord grape
5% fa forest fruit
1% fa fuji
1% inw df (pitaya)
0.5% inw cactus
1% tfa vanilla swirl
2% tfa sweetener
The inw dragonfruit is purely guesstimate % based on Nilbur & DJs observations, & depending on how everything else sits when the inw dragonfruit is introduced? Some things may need a little tweaking just to balance out the dark - tropical?
@SpeedeeVape how are you doing buddy? I think if you have those ingredients you should give it a try see what you think? Direct us, does it need more “dark”? More “tropical”? Dont feel awkward about telling us what you think it needs? Both @NIL8URBUDZ & @Dj35 recipes look awesome too, some absolutely cracking recipes come from this little project.
With the version i have now using purilum dragonfruit it is pretty damn close & vaping both side by side there is definitely a very strong resemblance like really strong, the only thing its missing is that little twang on the finish thats very hard to describe because with each hit you get a different bombardment of flavours hit the palate so its hard to pinpiont, sometimes i get like a FLV golden kiwi kinda vibe but, it doesnt smell like kiwi per se, just got that same kinda funk as golden kiwi.
I think we have all the right ingredients though now, that tropical layer really threw me off when i first smelt the concentrate, my first thought was tfa jackfruit from the smell of the concentrate? But vaping it & reading notes & your twos descriptions of inw dragonfruit i believe this actually fits the bill & the additional cactus i added my previous recipe really enhanced that bite that you get from the original, wether it acts in a similar way with inw dragonfruit im not sure?
Awesome work though guys, i am very happy with pretty much every recipe i have made around this, the first few were much datker & more like the artwork imo, the original has a very prominent tropical layer that rides through pretty much the entire vape but everything just feels really well balanced, full saturated vape from start to finish.
The recipe im vaping now is one of my first iterations but i am really enjoying a lot & it is still very close to the original imo -
I have about another 8/9 variations mixed up to try over this week though just to mess around with the “dark” base.
Sorry, been so hot and bothered. I know you moved on from it, but last night I mixed up the variation with the jack fruit and I did one with grape at 1% and one at .5%, at 1% I could still detect that grape in a way that I don’t in the OG, .5% was far better, overall all very nice, though I think i’m with you, the jackfruit doesn’t seem to provide the correct funk. Now in terms of the grape and how it’s gonna sit at 1.5% in your new recipe, I’m gonna have to mix that up to see, I do have those ingredients though.
I also thought once there might be a kiwi in there, was trying FA Kiwi and couldn’t seem to make it work, but was never very sure about writing it off completely, but like you say, a different one could well be in there.
you could well be right about cap blackcurrent, it’s just something I thought I could just about detect from snorting the concentrate and mixing a dot of CAP BC with 3 dots of FA BC and spreading on my hand, and then spreading some og concentrate on another part of my hand and smelling them side by side and tasting also. It just seemed the same to me but I could never be sure about it and could well be wrong about it.
regarding the twang, one theory I had and experimented with a little, was I looked long and hard at the artwork and realised that what it really looks like is a smoothie, whenever I have had a smoothie or made one myself I use greek yogurt, so I played with that a little but didn’t take it very far because I wanted to focus on the berry part as i felt I was just throwing too much together and so I pulled myself back a little and simplified my experiments with the intent of returning to the idea, but I swear sometimes I am getting some greek yogurt twang but at a lower percentage than you normally see it in a lot of recipes. more of an accent percentage. idk
I guess the thing with AI artwork like that, depending on how they prompted it and what revisions they did, you might be chasing a machine’s idea of what this juice tastes like.
absolutely possible, but I would think at a basic level you would have to tell it “smoothie” for it to generate something that looks like that. maybe I’m wrong.
Honestly, I could see FA DF or Mangosteen being it. My gut thinks its those over INW. Also, mixing Cactus and INW DF is that direction too. I like all three (tropical) versions for different reasons but My Black Midnight is my favorite if I’m forced to chose.
