The Rochford Project Black Vine clone?

Sounds fantastic.

Yeah it’s lovely, and these things take a lot of time and a lot of samples to flesh out don’t they. I really appreciate your hard work and effort though, you’ve took it to places I could never of got to. So many will get to enjoy a profile that I don’t think has been done quite this well before.

yes will defo give that a go.

Yeah I know what you mean, everytime I have added a cream, you know it’s there, don’t really get that in the og, I could maybe see it going in at a percentage that’s not typical…mmm

What do we think about some of the approaches that seem to be typical of those times, like additions of marshmallow and/or meringue?

I don’t think it’s a “Meringue” or “marshmallow” type of sugar. There’s quite a lot of sweetener in it that will cause similar to black vine. I will add a little “marshmallow” and “meringue” to 2 of my mixes though to make sure. I think it’s been achieved with fruits and sweetness how he has got that extra little creaminess using fruit is what has me baffled. I was really surprised by the addition of (tpa) “Df” and how much creaminess it adds mixed with the other flavours.
I need to let the last recipe steep properly because with the OG the creaminess increased a little with a good steep.

I’m definitely ordering the flavours I’m missing to be able to mix this stuff up. It’s made me really want to taste this stuff reading about it every day. You guys are doing great work.

These are the types of things I were having trouble with, knowing what type of effect is produced by what, I even got in OoO powered sugar a few months back thinking that maybe it would provide the effect I was looking for without the eggy note baggage, but since I hadn’t got close with the basics, I just didn’t get that far, now I’m learning there maybe less obvious ways that maybe responsible for it, in flavours that I just wouldn’t associate that effect with. This is where experience in these flavours reigns supreme, and why I need so much help.

So after making this version and vaping through it I’ve decided, if this is a step closer to the original then it’s a back step from what I prefer. The FA DF and INW DF regardless more of one or the other is much better with the FA Passion than the TFA Jackfruit being in the mix. I haven’t fully removed the INW yet but this is still really good. I think the FA Passion is doing a lot of the heavy lifting the INW DF was doing before when it was higher.

Cloning is so difficult man. I’ve been trying to get close to sweet mint gum from pop vapors, & poseidon from cyclops, but could never even get in the same ballpark, & I had over 1500 flavorings, & have been mixing since 2017/2018. The joy of diy anyway is to make something of the same profile, that fits your taste buds more. Commercial liquids were wayyyyy over flavored, & over sweetened imo. Makes sense, since they had to work in a large variety of devices. If you’ve had the liquid, make something of the same profile. I’d start with cap, fw, tpa, & fa. They were the most widely used flavor houses. I’m not sure when black vine started being sold, but that’s your best bet. If you don’t have a flavor, read through the flavor notes, & see if it’s similar to whatever note you were getting from that liquid. Hope you can find something that works for you!

Order on the way for tomorrow including flavours I need for black vine. Tropicals need adjusting a little and will be able to try it with (cap) “blackcurrant”.
The (wf) “jackfruit” I’ve been using comes out a little strong at the 1%, I think (wf) and (tpa) “jackfruit’s” are roughly the same strengths so tomorrow I’ll try (tpa) at 0.75%.

Update on where im at, actually glad you have the flavours on the way now DJ because i could do with a second opinion on these, also @SpeedeeVape if ypu can, if/when you get chance? -

im just struggling with which way to go? I think the TFA dragonfruit one is actually closer but i think i do prefer the one with INW dragonfruit? & i think that kinda gets in the way of decision making a little when im testing/tweaking them?
Its definitely VERY close to the original though, both versions are & i think either way you go you end up with a really nice eliquid in the end.
I have also only tested these specific variations over 3/4 days so far & they’re holding up really well.

Just noticed you have the super sweetener & not their normal sweetener/maltol, this will still work fine but its quite a bit stronger than the normal one, i would keep this one around the 1% mark, possibly under depending how you want/like it. 2.5% of the super sweetener would be extremwly sweet.
Edit - i also want to add that i actually prefer it with 0.5-0.75% supersweet anyways.

This is so good. Really liking the FA Passion in this. I don’t miss the INW DF. I can’t wait to try this with some added BC instead of the upped FF but honestly I’m in no hurry.

Tell me about it, lol. I do like the challenge though especially when its a liquid i like, so far over the years i have had pretty decent success getting close enough for me to be satisfied at least & i do quite enjoy it.
But yeah i agree, i do actually prefer to create/build my own recipes from scratch, i do draw a lot of inspiration from commercial liquids though for profiles etc, not even of juices i have tried, just flavours that sound nice to me. Whenever im stuck for flavours to make ill just browse the most popular eliquids/one shots etc on vape sites.
I also agree that the majority of commercial eliquids are just way over-flavoured/sweetened, i like my eliquids pretty sweet but most commercisl is too sweet for me, personally i use between 0.5 - 1% max, in most of my own liquids the usual go-to is 0.6% supersweet, just for reference.

Hope you’re well though Bob brother.

Look good. I’ll mix them both tomorrow when receive order. I think the 0.75% (tpa) “jackfruit” is exactly where I was putting it. I’ll try both “dragon fruit’s” and lower them a little. I think the mix will the (tpa) “dragon” is the closest so far. I’ll add 0.5% “passion” to taste but I think that possibly could be a little higher. I can always add a little more though if not enough but can’t reduce it if added to much. (better to start low and work up).
Just noticed you’ve upped the apple a little. Ok, I’m thinking it may add a little more creaminess.

@NIL8URBUDZ , I’ve got one of your mixes in one of my tanks now and enjoying it. It’s the one where you compare the flavours to all the metalic colours in a cars paint work, (I’ve got a mod like that). It’s Been steepiing for about 2 weeks. Your latest looks good also.

Those look really good, based on the previous version, that FA Passion fruit looks like a better percentage as well, though I would also be very interested In DJ35’s opinion when he gets his flavours though, I feel his opinion might more helpful than mine.

I tried adding .5% of Vanilla swirl to the last lot and I’m not convinced about the addition of cream either, was interesting that Vaping with Vic in his video didn’t seem to think so either, though I’m never sure when it comes to him tbh.

I was convinced there was cream in it but after adding the (tpa) “dragon fruit” to the “jf” and “passion” and seeing how creamy it makes it, I’m pretty sure it’s from the fruit combination. “Vanilla swirl” does work well in it but it seems to sit slightly separate from the fruit. My first taste from black vine was “there’s a really nice smooth creaminess”.
I’ve learnt a lot from doing this.
