The Rochford Project Black Vine clone?

Yes, that’s what I felt, Iv’e tried various creams in the past and they all seemed to do the same sort of thing, does seem like a Triethyl Citrate kinda thing going on and whatever other interplay of chemistry is happening between these flavours.

On tasting straight after mixing, I think the recipe using (tpa) “Dragon fruit” is almost spot on. Need to let it steep to really tell.
If someone had tasted black vine before and were given this they would say “it’s black vine”.
I prefer it with (inw) “dragon” but it’s not as close to the OG.
I thought that the “passion” was too low but on first taste it seems ok.
(Tpa) “Jf” and “df” are good where they are at the lower percentages.
It’s better with (cap) “blackcurrant” but on first taste it seems a little brighter and slightly stronger than the OG. But ! I’m hoping it calms a little with a steep. I’ll be able to tell after 24 hours…, (it’s a good Blackcurrant though).
It needs the (tpa) sweetener with maltol in to match the OG, (sugar lips) not the “super sweetener” that I got.
We need @SpeedeeVape to do a 10 mil tester and get his opinion, if he thinks it’s close enough for him.
Well done.

It really isnt far off is it?
Heres where im at now -

After a few days with the blackcurrant around 5% ish in the previous recipes it was kind of sinking into the rest of the recipe & that kind of “bite” the cap blackcurrant has fades a bit, in the original that “bitey” kind of note from the blackcurrant is very prominent, i think pushing the blackcurrant has definitely pushed it that bit closer to the original?
Give it a couple days with yours as is & see how you feel? then try adding the extra % on the blackcurrant.
I am enjoying this eliquid though its a damn good job its an easy ADV without getting sivkly or anytbing, i must have vaped litres of this stuff by now .
@NIL8URBUDZ & @Dj35 you two have been/are awesome team mates to have :ok_hand: both helped/contributed so much to the progression of this “remix”, im actually happy we have got it this close tbh because it really isnt far off but, i do think we can get it that little bit closer for SpeeDeeVape :+1:.

The “blackcurrant” has calmed quite a bit after 2 hours. I’ll wait until tomorrow, re-taste and add extra. It’s good job I’ve got a new bottle of it although shouldn’t have to mix much more for testing because it tastes damn good to me.

@NIL8URBUDZ somebody over on A,T, F, likes your midnight vine recipe and have left you a review. Wasn’t sure if you’d seen it yet.

Yeah! My first review being positive was a great feeling and is very rewarding.

This is @NIL8URBUDZ recipe over on A, T, F,. It’s his interpretation of black vine, without having tasted it. It’s good and someone’s reviewed it and like it also.
It’s how I actually imagined it to taste before I actually had…(it’s more like the picture).

We really need a dedicated youtube channel for recipe reviews man, i really enjoyed watching recipe reviews/critiques from gary vapes & wayne etc.

So sorry guys, been so busy, kids and the holiday’s :man_facepalming:

Is this the version you would like me to try? If so, wondering whether I should work in TPA sweetener? enough room for 2% without adjusting other percentages?

ah, me too, shame how gary seemed to disappear of the face of the earth, always wondered why his channel never seemed to grow past 10k subscribers. Think we might see, not only a resurgeance, but an increasing amount of newcomers to DIY with the vape tax coming in, would’nt surprise me if more channels pop up.

Well done man, and thank you for sharing the profile. I have a few of the flavours I need in my shopping list to try your version, next pay day i will try it.

I think that’s the other thing that excites me, not just the clone, but the potential remixes and where you guys might take it.

Mix the “blackcurrant” at 6%, and “Forest fruit” at 4% to start with. That’s what I’ve done because I followed the recipe before this one. The “BC” is bright and tastes like a little too much but he says after a few days it calms right down and to add more then. I’ve used the 6% and 4% and it tastes about spot on. I’m letting it steep for a few days then we can see how much more to add.
Try about 1.5% (tpa) sweetener with maltol.
I knew what your saying if you add 2% sweetness and follow the above recipe the total percentage is over 20%.
He’s pushing the “BC” really high in the above recipe to test.

yeah I meant if you remove super sweet at .75% which brings it to 18% then there is enough room for 2% TPA sweetener.

unfortunately I haven’t had time to try that one yet. I’m about to try the latest one

I get you, I miscalculated the total %.

It’s ok, I get it, you’re saying i’m not sweet enough lol

Honestly im not overly keen on it with the TFA sweetener/maltol, i feel i get some muting in the recipe using this. I would recommend sticking with supersweet personally, i think it vapes so much better.
& i think the 9% blackcurrant is definitely an improvement. When testing the recipes with 6% side by side with the black vine i always felt the blackcurrant lacking, you know that specific “bitey” note that CAP blackcurrant has? thats the note/nuance i was describing as “that FLV funk” that was missing earlier on in the thread.
The lacking blackcurrant is especially noticeable when knuckle testing both side by side, the recipe with 9% is MUCH closer i think almost spot on? im thinking an extra 1% would match the originals intensity?
Try it, knuckle test them both side by side, paying extra attention to that “funk” or “bitey” note i was describing. The higher i pushed cap blackcurrant the closer it got, i think 9% is so close, if it holds as it is now over the next few days then i think the 9% will be fine? Im still testing a lot of stuff though but i think its definitely getting closer🤔.

I’ve added the extra 3% “BC” and 1% “FF” and it’s really good. Tasting the OG alongside the clone and the only difference is the blackcurrant in ours is slightly brighter.
That’s what I’m really enjoying, that brightness.
I know it will calm in a few days but when it does I won’t be able to tell the difference between the two.
That (cap) “BC” is a really good flavour. I had some doubts during the process that we wouldn’t get it this close, but wow !! Tastes about spot on to me.
This is when it’s at its best, before that brightness calms a little.

Yeah it is REALLY close isnt it?
& i completely agree, i actually do prefer this (& the original Black Vine) as a shake n vape/during the first 3 days. I mean its still fantastic after too but i do prefer those first few days when everything still has its “bite”.

Just ordered some of the original 30ml concentrate myself to test out this liquid since everyone seems to be immersed in cloning it.
In trying to learn more I’ll have to give a few of these cloned recipes a try and see how close to the original they taste to me and my tastebuds.

Im/we’re only trying to clone it for SpeeDeeVape, for me its mainly because i said i would help him try to get something close to his all day vape, but i do also enjoy the challenge too.
Honestly i think we have pretty much succedded at this point, its not 100% perfect but damn its so close.
Thats awesome you have the OG on its way though, i would love to hear your opinion &/or feedback/criticism on both the original black vine & the clone/remix recipe. Same for anyone else that wants to try it id love to hear your thoughts. Feel free to DM me if you need any help or if you’re unsure on which is the latest/most up to date variation.
