No worries mate will do, and yeah I read through alot of this thread haha. So much back and forth across the months, if its even 90%+ cloned that’s amazing.
I’ll let you know what I think of the OG when it comes.

Brilliant! The more the merrier. The last recipe that @RicklePick-Eddie1z put out with 9% (cap) “blackcurrant” is the one. Add 1.5% “Fuji” instead of the stated 1%.
Was Cap Silverline BC out when this was created? It came out around the same time as FA DF iirc.
There doesn’t appear to be surprisingly any recipes using it. I’ve searched for announcements and product announcements and can’t find much info.
(Fa) “Dragon fruit” was released early 2018,
“Black vine” released September 2018.
(Speedee) normally checks the release dates and he’s not said anything…
So I’m not sure really but it tastes spot on to me. If it’s not it it’s a blackcurrant that tastes very much the same.
The last recipe is about spot on and what pushed it that extra little bit is the brightness and taste of the “blackcurrant”.
I’ll do a bit more searching for info this afternoon.
Ps… I searched for “blackcurrant” as 1 word, with no success because (capella) have spelt “black currant” as 2 words and there’s lots of recipes using it.
Capella did not release the entire silver line range all at once but in batches.
Initial release 2013,
New flavours added throughout the years…
2014 - 2016.
Another search shows the first review of the entire silver line range in October 2017, you have a good memory though because that review is not far behind the (fa) “df” release.
“Blackcurrant” could have been in the last 2016 release but luckily that’s still 2 years before “black vine”.
Of course Bull City doesn’t carry it… FFS
I had to order somewhere other than my normal (nomz) to get the blackcurrant, here in the UK, but luckily they had enough good other flavours for me to do a decent order.
I think you’ll be surprised by Black Vine, it has surprised many at how well the profile has been done, the latest clone attempts are equally as enjoyable. Taste is obviousIy subjective, but objectively I think both the OG and the clones serve as a masterclass on how to contruct a decent E-liquid.
Will be good to have an extra set of taste buds on it, welcome aboard.
Not for a minute suggesting we go down this road, just mearly asking for an opinion, I was just sat here knuckle testing the og and thought I was picking something up, I wondered back to a lot of reviews I had seen (yeah I know, not the most reliable), but I heard various comments that they were picking up maybe a citrus, what do you think of the possibility of there being a some really small percentage of something like an orange, tangerine, mandarin or even a bergamot or something like that? sometimes when I taste this it even reads a little like a faint pineapple, maybe because of the almost sour juiciness I am getting, was thinking if maybe the mix of the tropical we have with one of those citrus fruits might be like that maybe idk, or even a pineapple? yeah, I know, pineapple is not citrus but there seems to be this extra juicyness coming from somewhere that’s activating the sour region of my tongue that’s causing instant salivation just like a fruit like one of those i have mentioned would. just thought I would put it out there to see what your thoughts are? not to fill your carts up! lol
I can already sense the impending eye twitching as I write this, think I’m going to hide in a bunker somewhere for a while and come out when the dust settles.

Just an FYI, I am seriously enjoying the latest attempt and thinking of making a bigger bottle and Niccin it up! and I only ever nic something up if I really like it!
Edit: just went and tasted some of the citrus I have, mostly FA…mmm nah! not convinced, sweet tangerine by capella is nice but I am getting some bitter and extra taste on the top of my tongue that I’m not getting in og, hard to say when just knuckle testing these concentrates how they will work in a mix, maybe it might be some sort of pineapple?? theres just something, grr! I hate the not knowing.
Possibly could be just Capellas supersweet instead of purilum? With the addition of ‘citric acid’ thats in capella this could add a touch of that cirtus punch? Wheras purilum is just sucralose + pg, i dont actually have any CAP supersweet left to test with that either, i only have purilum + my own made sucralose (although i suppose if i can find out the % of citric in caps i could make some with citric?)
I still have quite a bit of testing to do on a few variations i have sitting atm though but once i have vaped through some of these (& i have some bottles free, lol) ill see where im at & move forward from there, i dont really think theres any additional flavours in there tbh, i think if it does need another flavour it would most likely be in place of something else (like i think FA passion for example feels the most “out of place” in the recipe for me?) & not “on top of” the flavours thats in there already, if that makes sense? When i start to add to the existing flavours (basically increasing total flavour count) i always seem to get some muddying &/or muting going on, even certain % tweaks can cause some muting in the recipe, it seems to be a fairly delicate blend of flavours tbh?
I think we will be looking at a 1:1 replica if we get it any closer
.
Hopefully we will have another set of taste buds helping soon too, would be fantastic if we could get a couple more people trying both the OG & the remix recipe.
Edit - it could also just be a case of one flavour needing to be a touch higher? FA fuji for example i dropped back down to 1% in these latest variations, not even because i meant to, but because i adapted these from one of the older variations & completely forgot i had even increased the fuji. I think increasing the fuji would boost the acidity a little & it is a “juicy” flavour.

Yeah, chances are if you like the black vine then you will most likely like the remix recipe too, they are VERY close.

I mixed the recipe before the last one then added extra “BC” and “FF” so mine has 1.5% Fuji in. You can just taste the apple and it does make it very slightly brighter/tarter. Also the freshness of the flavours especially blackcurrant actually makes it more sour than the OG that has steeped properly. I should really mix some more fresh OG to compare the clone to.
I’ve used (tpa) “super sweetener” as well which is sucralose and has citric but not sure how much difference a tiny bit of citric makes but my clone tastes really good.
I’ll put in an order to “wizard vapes” (there expensive) soon to order (Flv" “passion fruit” also they have the 2 (Flv) tobacco flavours I’m missing from the collection, but that’s another topic.
Capella Golden Pineapple all but disappears in mixes the few times I’ve played with it. My wife only ever notices it because I mention it.
Flavour warnings on CAP Super sweet might make that a no?
Yes, I thought FA Passion Fruit was something that I was tasting that I’m not getting in og, that said, there is no getting away from the fact the FA PF is a beautiful flavour, FA did a really good job with that flavour.
You see this is something I would really struggle with, for me that’s analogous to going fishing and getting into a right birds nest of a tangle and throwing my tackle into the water out of frustration lol
The determination in you is palpable, I can tell that based on the flavours involved you know this is somewhat achievable.
Yeah, I would recommend to anyone who has access to it, even if you only ever bought the og concentrate once, just to try it, liquids of this quality are so few and far between. If you’ve ever been sick of buying loads of different shortfills and not being happy, I can pretty much garantee that trying Rochford Projects line will save you a lot of trouble.
That makes alot of sense to me.
Is there any reason yas got away from using the TFA Blackberry Jay used in the OG recipe?
It got used less because we are using the blackberry that’s in “forest fruits”. It sort of got fased out but we didn’t really discuss it. The darker fruits are really good in the clone, it’s a slight difference in the tropical part that’s slightly noticeable especially when you vape the clone.
I’m ordering (Flv) “passion fruit” soon and hopefully it will make it a 1/1 copy.
The creaminess has increased and blackcurrant dropped to the right amount on day 3 of the clone.
I actually like the addition of the blackberry but not sure it’s used in the OG.
Yeah, I’m pretty sure I tried TPA BlackBerry in an earlier mix and even at .5% I could tell it was there and it didn’t fit compared to og, not horrible though, it’s a good flavour when it’s what you want, bet it’s really nice in your midnight vine, great name by the way.
I find TPA Blackberry really benefits from a 10+ day steep. It mellows out more and more as the weeks go on too. But as @Dj35 said, it sounds like you’ve nailed the dark side of the recipe anyway.
This actually made me LOL
, because i have actually done this, best part was it wasnt even my fishing tackle but by the time i had realized it was my mates rod etc it was too late, already in the water.
I did replace the damaged items of course.

I’ve been doing a few colour tests pulling the fresh mixed OG and our clone into large syringes;
OG is very slightly off clear and ours is clearer.
I’ve added 1 drop of (fa) “vanilla classic” to ours.
It’s a dark flavour so I thought it would darken it too much but there now the same colour. Also…
What has happened is you can’t taste the vanilla but it’s playing a trick with the pallet into making the creaminess taste like there’s a cream in it, like the OG.
Something to think about.
You will have to try with the vanilla then tell me if I’m loosing the plot or not.
I’ve pulled up some 3 weeks steeped OG and it’s really quite dark now but that happens as things steep.
When I get the (Flv) “passion” that may actually add the extra touch of creaminess without us adding the vanilla.
