robin, this is a great song. Check out a couple of the live performances of it. One in particular is outstanding. Phil Collins - In The Air Tonight LIVE HD - YouTube

OMG…yes. Restores my faith in modern rock…This band has always been compared to a modern day Zeppelin but I’m feeling a bit of Freddie Mercury being channeled here. I find myself playing this on repeat. Great use of their time during lockdown to create this one.
“Can you feel my love?” < That line…beautiful. :heart_eyes:

Calexico are wonderful. I’m biased because I got to play hand percussion with them for a gig at a Denver record store a number of years ago. Their percussionist also plays another instrument, so I filled in and then they just let me play on all of the songs during the gig. I was honored and it is a very fond memory.

You don’t have to be biased to recognise good craftmanship and their love for music. I’ve been following Calexico and some of the other Burns/Convertino projects since the 90s and I’ve seen them play once in Germany. Although I liked their earlier stuff more than the more recent albums but they’ve never been standing still.
That reminds me, there are a few albums I have to check out…

After hearing this story on the news, I can’t get this song out of my head;

Oh yeah. One band I wish I had seen live and have enjoyed their music since…well, let’s just say I’m old.

I think I just had an eargasm. This man’s vocal range is off the charts. Rock and roll’s not dead after all.

i have seen them, mid 80’s ? nov 4 1984 to be exact. it was an arena show, 20,000 people ? anyway, my buddy and i are listening to the show, and we were like wtf. unbeknown to us, they played more than just Rock&Roll. they were playing some jazzy stuff we never heard of. so after several tunes, they busted out Aqualung . we were like F Yeah !!!, stood up and, well, just what you do at a ROCK concert. … i then turned to look around the stadium, my buddy and i were “thee ONLY ones” standing and cheering/whatnots. i tapped my buddy and pointed around, he looked. in astonishment :astonished: he looked at me . we then sat down. that was one of my least favorite shows.

on a side note. i had offered him the option of the Tull show, or DEEP PURPLE Perfect Strangers tour, show. the DP show was one of the best i have ever seen, KICK ASS’us MAXIMUS !!! and i have seen a lot of concerts.

Isn’t it funny how particular voices and styles bring back certain memories from far back in one’s early years? Jethro Tull and Aqualung do exactly that for me. Memories of times, girls and activities partaken are flooding through my hippocampus, prefrontal cortex and cerebellum as I listened to that song. Thanks for the share @deb_laing, you’ve done good :heart_eyes:.

Anyways, when you listen to the following Bowie track and you’re just 10 years old (a friend of mine’s older brother had the album) it changes “brain chemistry” (in a good way). So grateful this sort of music was there in my young formative years. Peace :peace_symbol:.
