I had my doubts about it, but then I read Taylor Sheridan was behind the production and thought if it’s anything like YS and 1883 it should be good. Was not disappointed!

Er indoors has been watching this and I must admit it’s caught my attention and I’ve started watching it with her. Makes a change from bloody Coronation Street on all the time :weary:

We enjoyed this series too.
I enjoyed the realism in regards to peoples lives but must admit series 3 was the weakest I thought.

Funny you should mention Coronation Street as my ruling overlord has been hooked on that crap for a few years now ever since we got Foxtel. I believe Sarah Lancashire was in that many moons ago but her acting skills must have improved as she pulls off the lead character in Happy Valley well.

Yes she was the blonde bimbo Raquel married to Curly Watts back in the day. I have never been fortunate enough to escape the clutches of Coronation Street since both my Grandmothers watched it, my Mother and now to present day with my Mrs.
Oh no, don’t tell me as I am just about to embark on series three of Happy Valley.:see_no_evil:

Sorry as I thought you’d already watched the third series. I’m glad I didn’t elaborate on my opinion!
My earlier comment is not to say that I didn’t enjoy it and don’t consider as time wasted in watching it.

Well, I could have been doing more important things such as work around the house but as I’m getting older I’m getting lazier and less driven to undertake certain chores and projects.

Thirteen-year-old Zack is forced to fend for himself when his sadistic stepfather throws him out of the house. When they meet again, only one of them will survive. *warning - If you are sensitive to domestic abuse this not for you.

We used to watch it religiously. Rosie was always my favorite followed by David (Gail’s son). But my wife always hated what they did with Steve, just too many breakups and eventually we stopped due to that.

It came on nightly, and if you missed an episode, on the weekend they showed all 5 episodes back to back.

Aye up, it’s grim up north. Now where’s my hairnet :man_facepalming:

Great. In that second video I smiled when that lady at the beginning was complaining of prices and had paid 10 pence apenny. We had those in Jamaica back in the 60s. Shillings and pence. So for the Americans, an apenny was ½ a penny (cent really). 12 pennies to shilling. We even had a thruppence yup a 3 penny coin. IIRC that apenny was larger than a penny and I could buy my favorite snack with one.

I started watching when Ken Barlow was a much older man.

That was old Ena Sharples with her famous brown hairnet on. I remember going to the waxworks in Blackpool where there was a replica of the actual street and on the corner stood a tall imposing figure that was Ena, I must admit that when I stood up close to her she looked rather intimidating and creepy.
I have also visited the original Coronation Street in Manchester where it was all originally filmed, the feeling was very surreal when we stepped out onto the cobbled street. I remember some of the old money like pounds shillings and pence and also the threepenny bits as they were known. They were about the size and thickness of a British pound coin but with faceted sides. Now I feel really old :older_man:t2:

I thought threepenny bits were something else but I’ll leave that there.

I don’t own a TV, therefore I have no cable service. My Sister called me to talk about the Oscar Awards for this year. This A24 studios Movie swept the Oscars. Now I love A24 studios. They have most of the excellent New Horror genre films.
The film cast Michelle Yeoh.
Who I love for her vast Martial Arts body of work.
Jamie Lee Curtis the iconic Scream Queen.
And James Hong an Actor not well known. But who has graced the Silver Screen for over 5 decades.
So I watched it, It did not impress me.
I really don’t get the Oscars? And how they select winners? There are so many other Excellent Films to choose from?

I could never understand any awards. It’s a industry slapping each other on their backs with a look at me attitude. Doesn’t matter what industry it is. It’s a long commercial to me.

I saw the trailer for that movie and my first thought at the time was ‘I need to be really high before I watch this.’

It’s been a very longtime since I have used drugs or alcohol. But some form of Psychedelic would probably be apropos for this Movie.

Though I have not posted on a daily basis in the past few weeks, I have been enjoying oddities and recovering from bullshit during March Madness. The cowpats in question were Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Antman and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Frankly, after watching those two (it took three attempts with the further as it was utter drivel and the fact that people leapt on it for racial points made as much sense as me dancing in a bath of lime jelly and complaining about not securing a tequila sponsorship deal), I am an left wondering if someone wiped out the whole writers’ room and all who would consult on any detail during the process of polishing a script.

I think the only phase 4 Marvel movie I liked was Thor: Love and Thunder. Yes, Tiger did just rehash a lot of the last one (which he didn’t write) but it at least managed to have a heart to it.

To recover, I will watch a sequel which wasn’t made as such but ends with a man living his life with a 21-year-old Angelina Jolie: Cyborg 2. Yes, I know I have mentioned it before but, there are a couple reasons I return to it.
