What Do You Really Hate? (III)

OMG. I hope there aren’t many casualties. That’s horrible.

I hate when my gentoo installation explodes with errors.

When a dog food brand changes their formula without warning. My guy has loved his Taste of the Wild ancient grains, just opened a new bag… won’t touch it. Thankfully I can return it, but now I’m left figuring out what hell to get him and how to switch over slowly so he doesn’t get tummy issues… :cold_sweat:

I hate that, well for ANY pet food @Lynda_Marie. Guess you gotta KEEP checking the labels. :frowning:

Well, turns out Buddah isn’t the only one who’s having issues. After I put a post up on FB, 3 people I know have had the same issues with the same brand. I can’t find much online except they are having supply chain issues. :expressionless:

Who HASN’T been having supply chain issues…Great googly moogly! One would think that after four years we’d have sussed this out by now.

Problem is ingredients come from China. They are in the recovery process we were in in 2022. China to this day can’t put their people back to work.

Provincial Vaping Excise Tax Coming July 1, 2024

December 21st 2023 | Revised December 28th 2023

Provincial Vaping Excise Tax Coming July 1, 2024

Save

What is it?

The Canadian federal government introduced an excise tax on October 1st, 2022, that requires every e-liquid bottle or pre-filled pod sold within Canada to be excise-duty stamped (similar to the excise stickers found on tobacco and cannabis products).

When the government drafted that regulation, they allowed each province to also “piggyback” and collect excise duty on behalf of each province if the province wished to opt in.

Starting July 1st, 2024, the following provinces will also be collecting an excise duty on all vapeable vaping products (E-Liquid, Disposables, Pre-Filled Pods)

  • Manitoba
  • Ontario
  • Quebec
  • Northwest Territories
  • Nunavut

How much is it?

The provincial excise duty rate is identical to the federal rate, effectively doubling the excise duty in the provinces that have opted in.

  • $1 per 2mL on the first 10mL of e-liquid (or pod, or disposable) (effectively, $5 on the first 10mL of a bottle)
  • $1 per 10mL above the first 10mL

This effectively adds $7 (Federally) + $7 (Provincially) in tax on a 30mL bottle, $10 (Federally) + $10 (Provincially) on a 60mL bottle, $16 (Federally) + $16 (Provincially) on a 120mL bottle, and $54 (Federally) + $54 (Provincially) on a 500mL bottle.

Bottle Size Federal Excise Tax Per Bottle Provincial Excise Tax Per Bottle Total Excise Tax Per Bottle
30mL + $7.00 + $7.00 + $14.00
60mL + $10.00 + $10.00 + $20.00
120mL + $16.00 + $16.00 + $32.00
500mL + $54.00 + $54.00 + $108.00

When does it start?

Manufacturers must add provincial stamps to products as of July 1st, 2024.

Sometimes I hate to be a Canadian…I mean frequently :worried:

Then, after they give you that kick in the nuts the federal government makes you pay another 13% tax on those 2 excise taxes. Yeah, taxing the tax. Shake my head.

Not wishing to downplay the taxation and situation you’re facing in Canada as that is a blatant money grab from its citizens but I admit I’d take that over the distinct possibility of what Australians face on that same date.

Apologies if that statement seems unsympathetic but it’s what I think.

Well whatever happens here, it sets a precedent for the rest of the world (particularly the Western World).
I don’t think people are aware of that.

My St Bernard’s love the dog food from “Blue” . They really don’t like anything else. They make different kinds and they like all of them. They have a plant not to far away from me in Wisconsin where they let me purchase… It’s a little spendy but it’s cheaper than McDonalds 1/4 pounders which the also love. I made that mistake which I regret.

We avg around 250 inches of snow per year but this year the Nino hit and absolutely crushed our winter. Now that Spring is on the horizon its not a good time for 30 more inches, lol.

Oh my, i love St Bernard’s. Ive been wanting a malamute to join our family cuz they are so talkative but as they are twice the size a St Bernard would be twice as cuddly!

When our Argentine Dogo was alive i made every single meal for him, it wasnt cheap and wasnt always fun, especially slipping in drool, but at the time the Royal Oak food he was raised on by the breeders was so outrageously prices that it was cheaper to split a side of beef with my folks and cook for him.

Love my St Bernard’s. I sent you a DM about the Ginger Snap also

Just saw that and replied.

They would do well in this climate up here. Please tell me you have at least considered getting a tiny barrel for booze to go around their necks like on Bugs Bunny, lol.

Haven’t done that. They don’t like anything around their necks except scratches. And they damn sure don’t like being sprayed with a water hose. I thought I had the Cujo twins on me .

And most of the time I lay on the living room floor with my arms around them when we sleep. You wouldn’t believe the bond between us when we do that.
