I was “mixing” some pancake batter…
I accidentally put 2 tablespoons of vanilla paste instead of 2 teaspoons into my pancake batter. The aroma was beautiful, but I still can’t taste any vanilla. ಠ_ಠ

Oh it’ll be fine let it steep a few weeks and try it again. LMAO oh you meant actual pancakes.
You know though, I’m actually wondering now. I can’t seem to be able to really taste vanilla in my eLiquids either. I can taste artificial vanilla in cooking, but I have a harder time tasting real vanilla. I can definitely tell it’s in there, It just doesn’t pop out at me.
I’m sitting here if I have like a little batter left I’m going to try to put two to four drops of custard cake flavor into it and see how it tastes. I’ve tried putting custard cake flavor into my eggs want to make French toast. Interested on how it’ll taste in the pancakes. It’s the perfect way to use flavorings that I don’t like to vape.
Update: omg that custard cake flavor just transforms stuff. I ended up putting 6 drops in my last pancake. Just that tiny bit makes such a difference.
Y’know… Yeah. I just thought of something. So, some of these artificial flavors are designed to release their maximum potential when exposed to heat. They get added to boiling sugar, so they have to be able to withstand that heat. I reallllllly got to wondering now…
What if… One of the secrets of commercial juice is heating the flavor and pg? Not just a warm water bath though. I’m thinking, double boiler. A lot of heat. Oh I so gotta try this!!! I’m gonna give it a shot with some fruit flavors first. I’m getting in my razzleberry flavor on my next order. I’m gonna start there. Just gonna see how it goes.
Not sure if I should use razzleberry actually. I gotta see if it’s categorized as a drink or candy flavor.
I know some flavorings like Loraans oils can be used in candies & food stuff and some can be used in vape flavors. I recently got a bottle of Deiman Artificial Food Flavoring Irish Cream to try as a vape flavor. It is alcohol based and wouldn’t steep out enough for the use in vape liquid but it works great blended with oat milk and a bit of MCT oil for an amazing Irish cream coffee creamer. And I’ve used a few Inawera flavors to make scented soaps and candles.
Shit. So I just realized razzleberry contains benzyl alcohol, that must be why it’s harsh when I vape it. It has a boiling point of 401°F and doesn’t readily evaporate at room temp. Ffs. I wonder if Theres another flavor out there with the same profile as razzleberry. Not sure what it is supposed to be used for either when it comes to culinary/confectionary use. I still wanna try heating a flavor. Maybe not this one, but someday.
these flavors can have many compounds from furfuryl alcohol, oligolactones, linalool, benZaledehyde etc
could be anything
Nice to see my ancient ass recipes are still giving inspiration
Yo , Always great to see you pop in…Hope all is well. Have you earned a Michelin Star or 2
Hey Fidalgo! Funny you mention it, I just got a Michelin “key”. Which is the hotel version of a star. I retired a few years back (from exec @ restaurants, etc) and left the islands to focus on my kids and be closer to family. Single parent life while being a chef is draining. I now run 2 hotels and we were among the first to get a key. Pretty cool, especially that I had no idea Michelin was doing such a thing haha
That’s awesome…Funny your in hospitality, My wife and I recently bought a 9 room Inn with 3 massage rooms. We only serve breakfast. Its a lot of work anwear ar many hats. It was scary because we took it over 3 months before Covid. Luckily ownership didnt tranfer 100pct yet so we were able to hang on and work through it. Congratulations you ever hear from Amy2
I mixed this up last night, I wanted to make a fruit to take a break from my ADVs. Side note, anyones else find that bakeries and creams taste really strange right after switching from fruits?
The hand wrapped coil I put in here seems to be mediocre and lackin’. It looks fine when I glow it, once the coil is in it just doesn’t want to cooperate. The flavor is poking though though. But, disregard that, that’s off the topic here. I’m only mentioning it because Im not getting full flavor yet to describe this one.
ANYWAYS… I like it. My fruits always seem sweeter than my bakeries. I could swear that Fuji adds sweetness. Ever since I got the Fuji and lemon I seem to enjoy these better.
Update… This tastes bland. Very vague, nondescript sort of fruit, a little tangy, sweet. I think percentages need to be upped. It’s still a good one for sort of resetting flavor fatigue for my ADVs. I’ve never been brave enough to mix up a plain one for that. This just tastes like a plain, sweet liquid with a hint of fruit.
After taking a break from my crunch berry I think I can actually taste the 1% cap vanilla custard I put in. It’s actually really nice!!! It doesn’t mute the crunch berry flavor at all It must really need a week to get to this point though. I need to mix 2 60 ml bottles of it. By the time it gets to be this good I only have like 10ml left.
#TMA flavor for Wednesday is Lychee…I don’t have a lychee flavor, so this week is a cheat week for me. I used 2 pairing fruits, a spice, and a misc. sticking with mixing with flavors I never use. Not sure I’ll publish this, but it’s good, and different.
Nice man, congrats!! Happy to hear you weathered the storm. Too many independent places did not, sadly
As far as Amy goes, it’s been a while now. We keep in touch from time to time, but she stopped vaping ages ago. Last I knew, she was doing great
I’m not really a “Cereal Vapist” but really liking this one…
Lol
Looks good tho.

I still have a list of flavors saved for my next order so that I can try the classic Lynda Loops. It looks so good, I can just sort of imagine the way the key lime works with the fruit loops. This is one of the only recipes that I’ve actually planned to buy flavors for that I wouldn’t have gotten myself. I think I need to chill on the bull city orders for a couple weeks though. I’m gonna try to use what I have now work on some new stuff. I can’t wait to try this though.
