@woftam, people at work complain my emails are to long. Sorry. So the cotton goes bad? I didn’t know that. I thought coils lasted longer but Ive been running at high watts. Would the wattage make the cotton get bad faster? I’m trying to switch between my Legend at low watts to the other at high watts to see the difference. The flavor is still the same but I get a better “jumpstart” from the higher wattage unit. That and the coils the smoke beast tank uses doesn’t go low enough to be a low watt unit. It stops tasting like anything at 160w.
Is it dangerous inhaling from the unit the cotton is going bad in? I heard that formaldehyde starts to increase as the coil goes bad. Is that true with the leaky cotton?

The formaldehyde can be formed from the actual combustion of the cotton (ie it burns) this usually happens when there is not enough liquid.
Once the cotton degrades a little then the tank will start to get a little leaky. You will also find that if you leave your mod sitting for a bit of time it will start to leak as the wicking action doesn’t stop just because you are not hitting it.

@woftam yeah, that happens… gotta love that. Ok, so these coils aren’t cheap. Ugh. I also have to mail order… that’s extra cheese too for shipping. I try to get several packs at a time because shipping is the same for 2-3 as apposed to 1. Ok, here’s a question for you. Why get the V14 (no clue here but its got 14 coils) vs the V8 (not the tomato drink lmao). Is it taste? smoothness??? Or do you just find out as you work up which one has the best flavor?

The cost of stock coils is the reason many build rather than pay $$$$$$$ for replacements.
There are a few reasons that people go for the multiple coil heads v14 over v8 the resistance/heat/wattage capabilities/price/flavour it is all down to personal preference.

@woftam, Ok, I thought the more coils, the smother the hit was. if the unit can’t handle the 5w, .25 ohms… something went wrong… I guess it uses more battery life is all if the wattage goes up. Oh well. I’ll try the T6’s. and yes, it’s costly to get the pre-mades. If it’s still cheaper than cigarettes, it’s ok. I stock up on coils. The V14’s are hard to find still but they’ll become mainstream soon I imagine. They aren’t cheap though. I have a ton of v12-t6’s (got the wrong damn things! UUUUGGGHHH!!!)

I love talking about things Doug. I’ve been mixing since not long after I started vaping in 2015, but when it comes to the building RTA, RDA stuff, that’s new to me, so I’m not the person to ask on that. I prefer a tank like I said my Tobeco supertanks, I went through about 8-10 before I finally stuck with that one. My reason for deciding to do the RTA and RDA stuff now is because I’m not sure if we’ll be able to buy the tanks after May when the PMTA thing happens and I know I need to be prepared.
Mods. Well I used to be a huge Snowwolf chick but like I said earlier, the Vfeng kind of ended that for me and I pretty much will just pick up whatever cheap mod will work for 100w or below. Heck show me a sale and I’ll pick up a mod LOL I’m really not that picky on them. What I don’t like I give away to people that can’t afford them which is why I have so few mods on hand. I got into vaping to stop smoking after COPD and I continue to push helping others give up a smoking habit with vaping. I personally believe it’s my job to save as many lives as I can by teaching them about vaping.
As far as DIY it’s about what you want to do. I watch a lot of Youtube shows, mainly for entertainment (because television sucks these days) and I love the fun of hanging out with other mixers. @authormichellehughes, I’ve had 2 heart attacks. when I went to the hospital, they told me I had 2 complete blockages and the 3rd artery to my heart was 80% acluded. They put a stent in me the next week and did one of those procedures where they break up a clog by ultrasound??? I was close to dieing. Scared the crap out of me. Made me wake up to the fact that I was overweight, smoked to much and had to quit. I tried those little pouches of tobacco but they were as expensive as cigarettes and I was going through 2-3 cans a day. 2 people I knew told me about vaping. told me how safe it was and that it had flavors, not like smokes or that canned crap. So I tried one of theirs. I found it to be nice.
It took me 3 days to adjust to not getting all the other crap you get in your body like arsenic, formaldehyde, CO, CO2… 3 things off the top of my head I know are addictive after long term exposure. Then I didn’t need the smokes.
I got into diy because a place called Vape Dojo made a wonderful cucumber honeydew menthol mix. the menthol made my lungs hurt so I wanted to take that part out, bought the flavors, and the juice.Then I made it and it was awesome!!!
After that, I went and got a ton of flavors I wanted to try. I kept screwing up the mix though because I added to much flavor. Now I have 3-4 100ml bottles of juice I need to fix.

I’m so sorry to hear that Doug but I’m very happy someone introduced you to vaping. It took that COPD diagnosis to finally kick me in the butt after 30+ years of smoking to finally give vaping a try. I’d tried all the crap they push too with no luck. Vaping worked the first day for me. Cucumbers, Honeydew, and Menthol are three flavors I know absolutely nothing about. I poured many a mixes down the drain when I first started, and don’t let anyone tell you they haven’t screwed up a mix, because I promise you they have even the so-called Pro’s LOL. @authormichellehughes, Damn COPD at such a young age? That would kick my ass into looking for something else. The tfv-v12-t6 is actually very nice! it crackles when I hit it (dunno if that’s bad or good because it’s at it’s lowest w… but like everyone here, they probably had a reason to try. I didn’t want to die and they told me I would feel better. They also told me that refined nic was less addictive than most people know. I was told that vaping actually cleaned your lungs over time too
I love the flavors!!! IDK what that’s doing to my lungs so I really think the scientific studies on it are a good thing! I’m hoping that the CDC is forced to put out more good news about it. The bastards that are doing this are control freaks and they need to be run out with good info about it.
